John 4
1 Assone as the Lorde had knowledge how the Pharises had hearde that Iesus made and baptised moo disciples then Iohn
Als dan de Heere verstond, dat de Farizeen gehoord hadden, dat Jezus meer discipelen maakte en doopte dan Johannes;
2 (though that Iesus him selfe baptised not: but his disciples)
(Hoewel Jezus zelf niet doopte, maar Zijn discipelen),
3 he lefte Iewry and departed agayne into Galile.
Zo verliet Hij Judea, en ging wederom heen naar Galilea.
4 And it was so that he must nedes goo thorowe Samaria.
En Hij moest door Samaria gaan.
5 Then came he to a cyte of Samaria called Sichar besydes the possession that Iacob gave to his sonne Ioseph.
Hij kwam dan in een stad van Samaria, genaamd Sichar, nabij het stuk land, hetwelk Jakob zijn zoon Jozef gaf.
6 And there was Iacobs well. Iesus then weryed in his iorney sate thus on the well. And it was about the sixte houre:
En aldaar was de fontein Jakobs. Jezus dan, vermoeid zijnde van de reize, zat alzo neder nevens de fontein. Het was omtrent de zesde ure.
7 and there came a woman of Samaria to drawe water. And Iesus sayde vnto her: geve me drynke.
Er kwam een vrouw uit Samaria om water te putten. Jezus zeide tot haar: Geef Mij te drinken.
8 For his disciples were gone awaye vnto the toune to bye meate.
(Want Zijn discipelen waren heengegaan in de stad, opdat zij zouden spijze kopen.)
9 Then sayde the woman of Samaria vnto him: how is it that thou beinge a Iewe axest drinke of me which am a Samaritane? for the Iewes medle not with the Samaritans.
Zo zeide dan de Samaritaanse vrouw tot Hem: Hoe begeert Gij, Die een Jood zijt, van mij te drinken, die een Samaritaanse vrouw ben? Want de Joden houden geen gemeenschap met de Samaritanen.
10 Iesus answered and sayde vnto hir: yf thou knewest the gyfte of God and who it is that sayeth to the geve me drynke thou woldest have axed of him and he wolde have geven the water of lyfe.
Jezus antwoordde en zeide tot haar: Indien gij de gave Gods kendet, en Wie Hij is, Die tot u zegt: Geef Mij te drinken, zo zoudt gij van Hem hebben begeerd, en Hij zoude u levend water gegeven hebben.
11 The woman sayde vnto him. Syr thou hast no thinge to drawe with and the well is depe: from whence then hast thou yt water of lyfe?
De vrouw zeide tot Hem: Heere! Gij hebt niet om mede te putten, en de put is diep; van waar hebt Gij dan het levend water?
12 Arte thou greater then oure father Iacob which gave vs the well and he him silfe dranke therof and his chyldren and his catell?
Zijt Gij meerder dan onze vader Jakob, die ons den put gegeven heeft, en hijzelf heeft daaruit gedronken, en zijn kinderen en zijn vee?
13 Iesus answered and sayde vnto hir: whosoever drinketh of this water shall thurst agayne.
Jezus antwoordde, en zeide tot haar: Een ieder, die van dit water drinkt, zal wederom dorsten:
15 The woma sayd vnto him: Syr geve me of that water that I thyrst not nether come hedder to drawe.
De vrouw zeide tot Hem: Heere, geef mij dat water, opdat mij niet dorste, en ik hier niet moet komen, om te putten.
16 Iesus sayde vnto her. Go and call thy husband and come hydder.
Jezus zeide tot haar: Ga heen, roep uw man, en kom hier.
17 The woman answered and sayde to him: I have no husband.
De vrouw antwoordde en zeide: Ik heb geen man. Jezus zeide tot haar: Gij hebt wel gezegd: Ik heb geen man.
18 Iesus sayde to her. Thou hast well sayd I have no husbande. For thou haste had five husbandes and he whom thou now hast is not thy husband. That saydest thou truely.
Want gij hebt vijf mannen gehad, en dien gij nu hebt, is uw man niet; dat hebt gij met waarheid gezegd.
19 The woman sayde vnto him: Syr I perceave yt thou arte a prophet.
De vrouw zeide tot Hem: Heere, ik zie, dat Gij een profeet zijt.
20 Oure fathers worshipped in this mountayne: and ye saye that in Hierusalem is the place where men ought to worshippe.
Onze vaders hebben op deze berg aangebeden; en gijlieden zegt, dat te Jeruzalem de plaats is, waar men moet aanbidden.
21 Iesus sayde vnto her: woman beleve me the houre cometh when ye shall nether in this moutayne nor yet at Ierusalem worshippe the father.
Jezus zeide tot haar: Vrouw, geloof Mij, de ure komt, wanneer gijlieden, noch op dezen berg, noch te Jeruzalem, den Vader zult aanbidden.
22 Ye worshippe ye wot not what: we knowe what we worshippe. For salvacion cometh of the Iewes.
Gijlieden aanbidt, wat gij niet weet; wij aanbidden, wat wij weten; want de zaligheid is uit de Joden.
23 But the houre commeth and nowe is when the true worshippers shall worshippe the father in sprete and in trouthe. For verely suche the father requyreth to worshippe him.
Maar de ure komt, en is nu, wanneer de ware aanbidders den Vader aanbidden zullen in geest en waarheid; want de Vader zoekt ook dezulken, die Hem alzo aanbidden.
24 God is a sprete and they that worshippe him must worshippe him in sprete and trouthe.
God is een Geest, en die Hem aanbidden, moeten Hem aanbidden in geest en waarheid.
25 The woman sayde vnto him: I wot well Messias shall come which is called Christ. When he is come he will tell vs all thinges.
De vrouw zeide tot Hem: Ik weet, dat de Messias komt (Die genaamd wordt Christus); wanneer Die zal gekomen zijn, zo zal Hij ons alle dingen verkondigen.
26 Iesus sayde vnto hir: I that speake vnto the am he.
Jezus zeide tot haar: Ik ben het, Die met u spreek.
27 And eve at that poynte came his disciples and marvelled that he talked with the woman. Yet no man sayde vnto him: what meanest thou or why talkest thou with her?
En daarop kwamen Zijn discipelen en verwonderden zich, dat Hij met een vrouw sprak. Nochtans zeide niemand: Wat vraagt Gij, of: Wat spreekt Gij met haar?
28 The woma then lefte her waterpot and went her waye into the cite and sayde to the men.
Zo verliet de vrouw dan haar watervat, en ging heen in de stad en zeide tot de lieden:
29 Come se a man which tolde me all thinges yt ever I dyd. Is not he Christ?
Komt, ziet een Mens, Die mij gezegd heeft alles, wat ik gedaan heb; is Deze niet de Christus?
30 Then they went ont of the cite and came vnto him.
Zij dan gingen uit de stad, en kwamen tot Hem.
31 And in ye meane while his disciples prayed him sayinge: Master eate.
En ondertussen baden Hem de discipelen, zeggende: Rabbi, eet.
32 He sayde vnto the: I have meate to eate that ye knowe not of.
Maar Hij zeide tot hen: Ik heb een spijs om te eten, die gij niet weet.
33 Then sayd ye disciples bitwene them selves: hath eny ma brought him meate?
Zo zeiden dan de discipelen tegen elkander: Heeft Hem iemand te eten gebracht?
34 Iesus sayde vnto them: my meate is to doo the will of him that sent me. And to fynnysshe his worke.
Jezus zeide tot hen: Mijn spijs is, dat Ik doe den wil Desgenen, Die Mij gezonden heeft, en Zijn werk volbrenge.
35 Saye not ye: there are yet foure monethes and then cometh harvest? Beholde I saye vnto you lyfte vp youre eyes and loke on ye regios: for they are whyte all redy vnto harvest.
Zegt gijlieden niet: Het zijn nog vier maanden, en dan komt de oogst? Ziet, Ik zeg u: Heft uw ogen op en aanschouwt de landen; want zij zijn alrede wit om te oogsten.
36 And he ye repeth receaveth rewarde and gaddereth frute vnto life eternall: that bothe he that soweth and he yt repeth myght reioyse to gether. (aiōnios g166)
En die maait, ontvangt loon, en vergadert vrucht ten eeuwigen leven; opdat zich te zamen verblijde, beide, die zaait en die maait. (aiōnios g166)
37 And herin is the sayinge true yt one soweth and another repeth.
Want hierin is die spreuk waarachtig: Een ander is het, die zaait, en een ander, die maait.
38 I sent you to repe yt whero ye bestowed no laboure. Other men laboured and ye are entred into their labours.
Ik heb u uitgezonden, om te maaien, hetgeen gij niet bearbeid hebt; anderen hebben het bearbeid, en gij zijt tot hun arbeid ingegaan.
39 Many of the Samaritas of that cyte beleved on him for ye sayinge of the woma which testified: he tolde me all thinges yt ever I dyd.
En velen der Samaritanen uit die stad geloofden in Hem, om het woord der vrouw, die getuigde: Hij heeft mij gezegd alles, wat ik gedaan heb.
40 Then when the Samaritas were come vnto him they besought him yt he wolde tary wt the. And he aboode there two dayes.
Als dan de Samaritanen tot Hem gekomen waren, baden zij Hem, dat Hij bij hen bleef; en Hij bleef aldaar twee dagen.
41 And many moo beleved because of his awne wordes
En er geloofden er veel meer om Zijns woords wil;
42 and sayd vnto the woman: Now we beleve not because of thy sayinge. For we have herde him oure selves and knowe that this is even in dede Christ the savioure of the worlde.
En zeiden tot de vrouw: Wij geloven niet meer om uws zeggens wil; want wij zelven hebben Hem gehoord, en weten, dat Deze waarlijk is de Christus, de Zaligmaker der wereld.
43 After two dayes he departed thence and wet awaye into Galile.
En na de twee dagen ging Hij van daar en ging heen naar Galilea;
44 And Iesus him selfe testified that a Prophete hath none honoure in his awne countre.
Want Jezus heeft Zelf getuigd, dat een profeet in zijn eigen vaderland geen eer heeft.
45 Then assone as he was come into Galile the Galileans receaved him which had sene all the thinges yt he dyd at Ierusalem at ye feast. For they wet also vnto ye feast daye.
Als Hij dan in Galilea kwam, ontvingen Hem de Galileers, gezien hebbende al de dingen, die Hij te Jeruzalem op het feest gedaan had; want ook zij waren tot het feest gegaan.
46 And Iesus came agayne into Cana of Galile wher he turned water into wyne. And ther was a certayne ruler whose sonne was sicke at Capernaum.
Zo kwam dan Jezus wederom te Kana in Galilea, waar Hij het water wijn gemaakt had. En er was een zeker koninklijk hoveling, wiens zoon krank was, te Kapernaum.
47 Assone as the same herde that Iesus was come out of Iewry into Galile he wet vnto him and besought him yt he wolde descende and heale his sonne: For he was eve readie to dye.
Deze, gehoord hebbende, dat Jezus uit Judea in Galilea kwam, ging tot Hem, en bad Hem, dat Hij afkwame, en zijn zoon gezond maakte; want hij lag op zijn sterven.
48 Then sayde Iesus vnto him: excepte ye se signes and wodres ye canot beleve.
Jezus dan zeide tot hem: Tenzij dat gijlieden tekenen en wonderen ziet, zo zult gij niet geloven.
49 The ruler sayd vnto him: Syr come awaye or ever yt my chylde dye.
De koninklijke hoveling zeide tot Hem: Heere, kom af, eer mijn kind sterft.
50 Iesus sayde vnto him goo thy waye thy sonne liveth. And the ma beleved ye wordes yt Iesus had spoke vnto him and wet his waye.
Jezus zeide tot hem: Ga heen, uw zoon leeft. En de mens geloofde het woord, dat Jezus tot hem zeide, en ging heen.
51 And anone as he went on his waye his servantes met him and tolde him sayinge: thy chylde liveth.
En als hij nu afging, kwamen hem zijn dienstknechten tegemoet, en boodschapten, zeggende: Uw kind leeft!
52 Then enquyred he of the the houre when he begane to amende. And they sayde vnto him: Yester daye the sevethe houre the fever lefte him.
Zo vraagde hij dan van hen de ure, in welke het beter met hem geworden was. En zij zeiden tot hem: Gisteren te zeven ure verliet hem de koorts.
53 And the father knew that it was the same houre in which Iesus sayde vnto him: Thy sonne liveth. And he beleved and all his housholde.
De vader bekende dan, dat het in dezelve ure was, in dewelke Jezus tot hem gezegd had: Uw zoon leeft. En hij geloofde zelf, en zijn gehele huis.
54 Thys is agayne the seconde myracle yt Iesus dyd after he was come oute of Iewry into Galile.
Dit tweede teken heeft Jezus wederom gedaan, als Hij uit Judea in Galilea gekomen was.
