John 11
1 A certayne man was sicke named Lazarus of Bethania the toune of Mary and her sister Martha.
Um homem chamado Lázaro estava doente. Ele morava no povoado de Betânia com suas irmãs, Maria e Marta.
2 It was that Mary which annoynted Iesus with oyntment and wyped his fete with her heere whose brother Lazarus was sicke
Maria, cujo irmão Lázaro estava doente, foi a mesma que colocou perfume no Senhor e enxugou, com seus cabelos, os pés dele.
3 and his sisters sent vnto him sayinge. Lorde behold he whom thou lovest is sicke.
Então, as irmãs enviaram uma mensagem a Jesus: “Senhor, o seu querido amigo está doente.”
4 When Iesus hearde yt he sayd: this infirmite is not vnto deth but for ye laude of God that the sonne of God myght be praysed by the reason of it.
Quando Jesus ouviu a notícia, disse: “A doença de Lázaro não acabará em morte. Isso está acontecendo para que a glória de Deus seja revelada e, assim, o Filho de Deus seja respeitado.”
5 Iesus loved Martha and her sister and Lazarus.
Embora Jesus amasse Marta, Maria e Lázaro
6 After he hearde that he was sicke then aboode he two dayes still in the same place where he was.
e tivesse ouvido a notícia sobre a doença dele, ele permaneceu no lugar em que estava ainda por dois dias.
7 Then after that sayd he to his disciples: let us goo into Iewry agayne.
Então, Jesus disse aos seus discípulos: “Vamos voltar para a Judeia.”
8 His disciples sayde vnto him. Master the Iewes lately sought meanes to stone the and wilt thou goo thyther agayne?
E os discípulos disseram: “Rabi, apenas há alguns dias, os judeus tentaram apedrejá-lo. Você realmente quer voltar para lá agora?”
9 Iesus answered: are ther not twelve houres in ye daye? Yf a man walke in ye daye he stombleth not because he seith the lyght of this worlde.
Jesus respondeu: “O dia não tem doze horas?
10 But yf a ma walke in ye nyght he stombleth because ther is no lyght in him.
Se vocês andarem durante o dia não tropeçarão, pois a luz deste mundo os ajuda a ver para onde estão indo. Mas, se vocês caminharem durante a noite tropeçarão, pois não há luz para iluminar o seu caminho.”
11 This sayde he and after yt he sayde vnto the: oure frende Lazarus slepeth but I goo to wake him out of slepe.
Após isso, Jesus continuou: “O nosso amigo Lázaro está dormindo, mas eu irei lá e o acordarei.”
12 Then sayde his disciples: Lorde yf he slepe he shall do well ynough.
Os discípulos disseram: “Senhor, se ele está dormindo, então, irá melhorar.”
13 How be it Iesus spake of his deeth: but they thought yt he had spoke of ye naturall slepe.
Jesus estava se referindo à morte de Lázaro, mas os discípulos pensaram que ele estivesse realmente dormindo.
14 Then sayde Iesus vnto the playnly Lazarus is deed
Então, Jesus lhes disse claramente: “Lázaro está morto.
15 and I am glad for youre sakes yt I was not there because ye maye beleve. Neverthelesse let vs go vnto him.
Para o bem de vocês, eu estou feliz por não ter estado lá com ele, pois assim vocês serão capazes de crer em mim. Vamos vê-lo!”
16 Then sayde Thomas which is called Dydimus vnto ye disciples: let vs also goo that we maye dye wt him
Tomé, chamado o Gêmeo, disse para os outros discípulos: “Vamos também! Assim, poderemos morrer com o Mestre.”
17 Then went Iesus and founde that he had lyne in his grave foure dayes already.
Ao chegar, Jesus soube que Lázaro havia sido sepultado já há quatro dias.
18 Bethanie was nye vnto Ierusalem aboute. xv. furlonges of
O povoado de Betânia ficava apenas três quilômetros de Jerusalém,
19 and many of the Iewes were come to Martha and Mary to comforte them over their brother.
e muitos judeus tinham ido até lá para consolar Maria e Marta pela morte do seu irmão.
20 Martha assone as she hearde yt Iesus was comynge went and met him: but Mary sate still in the housse.
Quando Marta soube que Jesus estava vindo, ela foi encontrá-lo; porém, Maria ficou em casa.
21 Then sayde Martha vnto Iesus: Lorde yf thou haddest bene here my brother had not bene deed:
Marta disse a Jesus: “Se o senhor estivesse aqui, o meu irmão não teria morrido!
22 but neverthelesse I knowe that whatsoever thou axest of God God will geve it the.
Mas, eu tenho certeza de que, mesmo agora, Deus lhe dará qualquer coisa que o senhor pedir.”
23 Iesus sayde vnto her: Thy brother shall ryse agayne.
Jesus lhe disse: “O seu irmão irá ressuscitar!”
24 Martha sayde vnto him: I knowe that he shall ryse agayne in the resurreccion at the last daye.
Marta respondeu: “Eu sei que ele voltará do mundo dos mortos na ressurreição, no último dia.”
25 Iesus sayde vnto her: I am the resurreccion and the lyfe: He that beleveth on me ye though he were deed yet shall he lyve.
E Jesus disse: “Eu sou a ressurreição e a vida. Aquele que crê em mim viverá, mesmo que esteja morto.
E quem vive e crê em mim não morrerá, eternamente. Você acredita nisso?” (aiōn g165)
27 She sayde vnto him: ye Lorde I beleve that thou arte Christ the sonne of god which shuld come into the worlde.
“Sim, Senhor!”, ela respondeu. “Eu creio que o senhor é o Messias, o Filho de Deus, aquele que devia vir a este mundo.”
28 And assone as she had so sayde she went her waye and called Marie her sister secretly sayinge: The master is come and calleth for the
Depois que disse isso, Marta voltou para casa e disse a sua irmã, Maria, em particular: “O Mestre está aqui e pediu para vê-la.”
29 And she assone as she hearde that arose quickly and came vnto him.
Assim que Maria ouviu isso, rapidamente se levantou e foi vê-lo.
30 Iesus was not yet come into the toune: but was in the place where Martha met him.
Jesus ainda não tinha chegado ao povoado. Ele ainda estava no lugar em que Marta o havia encontrado.
31 The Iewes then which were with her in the housse and comforted her when they sawe Mary that she rose vp hastely and went out folowed her saying: She goeth vnto the grave to wepe there.
Os judeus, que estavam consolando Maria em sua casa, viram como ela se levantou rápido e saiu. Então, eles a seguiram, pensando que ela talvez fosse até o túmulo do seu irmão para chorar.
32 Then when Mary was come where Iesus was and sawe him she fell doune at his fete sayinge vnto him: Lorde yf thou haddest bene here my brother had not bene deed.
Quando Maria chegou ao local em que Jesus estava e o viu, ela caiu aos seus pés e disse: “Se o senhor estivesse aqui, o meu irmão não teria morrido!”
33 When Iesus sawe her wepe and ye Iewes also wepe which came wt her he groned in ye sprete and was troubled in him selfe
Quando Jesus a viu chorando, e também os judeus que vinham atrás dela, ele ficou muito comovido e aflito.
34 and sayde: Where have ye layed him? They sayde vnto him: Lorde come and se.
Ele perguntou: “Onde vocês o sepultaram?” Eles responderam: “Senhor, venha e veja!”
35 And Iesus wept.
Então, Jesus chorou.
36 Then sayde the Iewes: Beholde howe he loved him.
Os judeus disseram: “Vejam como ele amava Lázaro!”
37 And some of the sayde: coulde not he which openned the eyes of the blynde have made also that this man shuld not have dyed?
Mas, alguns deles disseram: “Se ele conseguiu curar a cegueira de um cego, então, ele não poderia ter impedido que Lázaro moresse?”
38 Iesus agayne groned in him selfe and came to the grave. It was a caue and a stone layde on it.
Jesus, se sentindo muito aflito, foi até o túmulo. Era uma caverna, com uma grande pedra colocada na entrada.
39 And Iesus sayd: take ye awaye the stone. Martha the sister of him that was deed sayd vnto him: Lorde by this tyme he stinketh. For he hath bene deed foure dayes:
Jesus lhes disse: “Retirem a pedra!” Porém, Marta, a irmã de Lázaro, disse: “Senhor, haverá um cheiro terrível, pois Lázaro já está morto há quatro dias.”
40 Iesus sayde vnto her: Sayde I not vnto the yt if thou didest beleve thou shuldest se ye glory of God.
“Eu não lhe disse que se crer em mim, você verá o poder de Deus?”, Jesus respondeu.
41 Then they toke awaye ye stone from ye place where the deed was layde. And Iesus lyfte vp his eyes and sayde: Father I thanke the because that thou hast hearde me.
Então, eles tiraram a pedra. Jesus olhou para o céu e disse: “Pai, obrigado por me ouvir.
42 I wot that thou hearest me all wayes: but because of the people that stonde by I sayde it yt they maye beleve that thou hast sent me.
Eu sei que você sempre me escuta. Eu digo isso para que a multidão que aqui está acredite que você me enviou.”
43 And when he thus had spoken he cryed wt a loud voyce. Lazarus come forthe.
Após dizer isso, Jesus gritou: “Lázaro, venha para fora!”
44 And he that was deed came forth bounde hand and fote with grave bondes and his face was bounde with a napkin. Iesus sayde vnto the: loowse him and let him goo.
O morto veio. Havia tiras de linho envolvendo as suas mãos e os seus pés e também um pedaço de tecido sobre o seu rosto. Jesus lhes disse: “Tirem as faixas dele e deixem que ele vá.”
45 Then many of the Iewes which came to Mary and had sene the thinges which Iesus dyd beleved on him.
Assim, muitos dos judeus que vieram para consolar Maria e que viram o que Jesus tinha feito creram nele.
46 But some of them went their wayes to the Pharises and tolde them what Iesus had done.
Mas, outros foram até os fariseus e disseram para eles o que Jesus havia feito.
47 Then gadered the hye prestes and the Pharises a counsell and sayde: what do we? This ma doeth many miracles.
Então, os chefes dos sacerdotes e os fariseus fizeram uma reunião do conselho superior. Eles perguntaram: “O que devemos fazer? Esse homem está fazendo muitos milagres.
48 Yf we let him scape thus all men will beleve on him and ye Romaynes shall come and take awaye oure countre and the people.
Se permitirmos que ele continue, todos irão acreditar nele e, então, os romanos irão destruir tanto o Templo quanto a nós como país.”
49 And one of them named Cayphas which was the hieprest yt same yeare sayde vnto them: Ye perceave nothinge at all
Caifás, que era o grande sacerdote daquele ano, disse: “Vocês não entendem nada!
50 nor yet consider that it is expedient for vs that one man dye for the people and not that all the people perisshe.
Não conseguem perceber que é melhor que morra apenas um homem pelo povo do que toda uma nação ser destruída?”
51 This spake he not of him selfe but beinge hye preste that same yeare he prophesied that Iesus shulde dye for the people
Ele não disse isso por si mesmo, mas como grande sacerdote naquele ano, ele estava profetizando que Jesus iria morrer pela nação.
52 and not for the people only but that he shuld gader to geder in one the chyldren of God which were scattered abroode.
E que ele se sacrificaria não apenas pela nação judaica, mas por todos os filhos de Deus espalhados por toda a parte. Então, eles se reuniriam e formariam um só povo.
53 From that daye forth they held a counsell to geder for to put him to deeth.
A partir daquele momento, eles começaram a planejar como conseguiriam matar Jesus.
54 Iesus therfore walked no more opely amoge the Iewes: but wet his waye thence vnto a coutre nye to a wildernes into a cite called Ephraim and there hauted with his disciples.
Por isso, Jesus não andava mais publicamente entre os judeus; ele foi para uma cidade chamada Efraim, na região próxima ao deserto e lá ficou com os seus discípulos.
55 And the Iewes ester was nye at hand and many went out of the countre vp to Ierusalem before the ester to purify them selves.
Já estava próximo o dia da Páscoa judaica, e muitas pessoas saíram dos campos e foram para Jerusalém, para se purificarem para a Páscoa.
56 Then sought they for Iesus and spake bitwene the selves as they stode in the teple: What thinke ye seynge he cometh not to the feast.
As pessoas procuravam por Jesus e, enquanto estavam no Templo, falavam a respeito dele. Elas se perguntavam: “O que você acha? Ele virá para a festa?”
57 The hye prestes and Pharises had geven a comaundemet that yf eny man knew where he were he shuld shewe it that they myght take him.
Os chefes dos sacerdotes e os fariseus tinham dado ordens para que todos que soubessem onde Jesus estava contassem a eles, pois queriam prendê-lo.
