Genesis 15
1 After these deades ye worde of God came vnto Abram in a vision saynge feare not Abram I am thy shilde and thy rewarde shalbe exceadynge greate.
Después de todo esto, Dios habló con Abram en una visión, y le dijo: “¡No tengas miedo, Abram! ¡Yo soy tu protector y tu gran recompensa!”
2 And Abram answered: LORde Iehouah what wilt thou geue me: I goo childlesse and the cater of myne housse this Eleasar of Damasco hath a sonne.
Pero Abram respondió: “Señor Dios, ¿de qué me beneficiará cualquier cosa que me des? No tengo hijos, y el único heredero de todo lo que tengo es Eliezer de Damasco”.
3 And Abram sayd: se to me hast thou geven no seed: lo a lad borne in my housse shalbe myne heyre.
Y Abram continuó, expresando tu queja: “¡Mira, no me has dado hijos, y me toca darle toda mi herencia a un sirviente de mi casa!”
4 And beholde the worde of the LORde spake vnto Abram sayenge: He shall not be thyne heyre but one that shall come out of thyne awne bodye shalbe thyne heyre.
Pero entonces el Señor le dijo: “Este hombre no será tu heredero. Tu heredero será tu propio hijo”.
5 And he brought him out at the doores ad sayde. Loke vpp vnto heaven and tell the starres yf thou be able to nobre them. And sayde vnto him Even so shall thy seed be.
Entonces el Señor llevó a Abram afuera y le dijo: “Mira al cielo, y dime si puedes contar las estrellas. ¡Así será la cantidad de descendientes que tendrás!”
6 And Abram beleved the LORde and it was counted to him for rightwesnes.
Y Abram creyó en lo que el Señor le dijo, y el Señor concluyó que Abram y él tenían una relación buena.
7 And he sayde vnto hym: I am the LORde that brought the out of Vrin Chaldea to geue the this lande to possesse it.
El Señor también le dijo: “Yo soy el Señor, que te saqué de Ur de los caldeos para darte esta tierra”.
8 And he sayde: LORde God whereby shall I knowe that I shall possesse it?
“Pero Señor, ¿cómo podré estar seguro de que es mía?” preguntó Abram.
9 And he sayde vnto him: take an heyfer of. iij. yere olde and a she gotte of thre yeres olde and a thre yere olde ram a turtill doue and a yonge pigeon.
Entonces el Señor me dijo: “Tráeme una vaca, una cabra y un carnero, todos de tres años de edad, y además una paloma adulta y una paloma joven”.
10 And he toke all these and devyded them in the myddes and layde euery pece one over agenst a nother. But the foules devyded he not.
Así que Abram mató a los tres animales, luego los cortó por la mitad, y puso cada mitad frente a la otra. Sin embargo, no cortó a las aves por la mitad.
11 And the byrdes fell on the carcases but Abra droue the awaye.
Cuando los buitres descendían para comerse los cadáveres, Abram los espantaba.
12 And when the sonne was doune there fell a slomber apon Abram. And loo feare and greate darknesse came apon hym.
Cuando se puso el sol, Abram sintió mucho sueño, y a la vez una oscuridad espesa y terrible se posó sobre él.
13 And he sayde vnto Abram: knowe this of a suertie that thi seed shalbe a straunger in a lande that perteyneth not vnto the. And they shall make bondmen of them and entreate them evell iiij. hundred yeares.
Entonces el Señor le explicó a Abram: “Puedes estar seguro de que tus descendientes serán extranjeros en otras naciones, donde sufrirán esclavitud y maltratados por 400 años.
14 But the nation whom they shall serue wyll I iudge. And after warde shall they come out wyth greate substace.
Sin embargo, yo castigaré a la nación que los tendrá como esclavos, y después tus descendientes saldrán, llevándose muchas posesiones de gran valor.
15 Neuerthelesse thou shalt goo vnto thi fathers in peace ad shalt be buried when thou art of a good age:
Pero en lo que a ti concierne, morirás en paz y serás sepultado después de haber vivido una buena vida.
16 ad in the fourth generation they shall come hyther agayne for the wekednesse of the Amorites ys not yet full.
Cuatro generaciones más tarde, tus descendientes volverán para vivir aquí, porque ahora mismo los pecados de los amonitas no han logrado su máximo alcance”.
17 When the sonne was doune and it was waxed darke: beholde there was a smokynge furnesse and a fyre brand that went betwene the sayde peces.
Después de que el sol se puso y se hizo de noche, de repente apareció un horno echando humo y una antorcha encendida que pasaba entre las mitades de los cadáveres de los animales.
18 And that same daye the LORde made a covenaunte with Abram saynge: vnto thy seed wyll I geue thys londe fro the ryver of Egypte even vnto the greate ryver euphrates:
Así fue como el Señor hizo un acuerdo con Abram ese día, prometiéndole: “Yo le daré esta tierra a tus descendientes. Se extiende desde el Wadi de Egypto hasta el gran río Éufrates,
19 the kenytes the kenizites the Cadmonites
e incluye el territorio de los quenitas, los quenizitas, los cadmoneos,
20 the Hethites the Pherezites the Raphaims
los heteos, los ferezeos, los refaítas,
21 the Amorytes the Canaanites the Gergesites and the Iebusites.
los amorreos, los cananeos, los gergeseos, y los jebuseos”.
