John 14
1 Do not let your hearts be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in me.
Und er sprach zu seinen Jüngern: Euer Herz erschrecke nicht! Glaubet ihr an Gott, so glaubet ihr auch an mich.
2 In my Father’s Home there are many dwellings. If it had not been so, I should have told you, for I am going to prepare a place for you.
In meines Vaters Hause sind viel Wohnungen. Wenn's nicht so wäre, so wollt' ich zu euch sagen; ich gehe hin euch die Stätte zu bereiten.
3 And, since I go and prepare a place for you, I shall return and take you to be with me, so that you may be where I am;
Und ob ich hinginge, euch die Stätte zu bereiten, will ich doch wiederkommen und euch zu mir nehmen, auf daß ihr seid, wo ich bin.
4 and you know the way to the place where I am going.”
Und wo ich hingehe, das wisset ihr, und den Weg wisset ihr auch.
5 “We do not know where you are going, Master,” said Thomas; “so how can we know the way?”
Spricht zu ihm Thomas: HERR, wir wissen nicht, wo du hingehest; und wie können wir den Weg wissen?
6 Jesus answered: “I am the Way, and the Truth, and the Life; no one ever comes to the Father except through me.
Jesus spricht zu ihm: Ich bin der Weg und die Wahrheit und das Leben; niemand kommt zum Vater denn durch mich
7 If you had recognised me, you would have known my Father also; for the future you will recognise him, indeed you have already seen him.”
Wenn ihr mich kennetet, so kennetet ihr auch meinen Vater. Und von nun an kennet ihr ihn und habt ihn gesehen.
8 “Master, show us the Father,” said Philip, “and we shall be satisfied.”
Spricht zu ihm Philippus: HERR, zeige uns den Vater, so genüget uns.
9 “Have I been all this time among you,” said Jesus, “and yet you, Philip, have not recognised me? He who has seen me has seen the Father, how can you say, then, ‘Show us the Father’?
Jesus spricht zu ihm: So lange bin ich bei euch und du kennest mich nicht? Philippus, wer mich siehet, der siehet den Vater. Wie sprichst du denn: Zeige uns en Vater?
10 Do not you believe that I am in union with the Father, and the Father with me? In giving you my teaching I am not speaking on my own authority; but the Father himself, always in union with me, does his own work.
Glaubest du nicht, daß ich im Vater und der Vater in mir ist? Die Worte, die zu euch rede, die rede ich nicht von mir selbst. Der Vater aber, der in mir wohnet, derselbige tut die Werke.
11 Believe me,” he said to them all, “when I say that I am in union with the Father and the Father with me, or else believe me on account of the work itself.
Glaubet mir, daß ich im Vater und der Vater in mir ist; wo nicht, so glaubet mir doch um der Werke willen.
12 In truth I tell you, he who believes in me will himself do the work that I am doing; and he will do greater work still, because I am going to the Father.
Wahrlich, wahrlich, ich sage euch: Wer an mich glaubet, der wird die Werke auch tun, die ich tue, und wird größere denn diese tun; denn ich gehe zum Vater
13 Whatever you ask, in my Name, I will do, that the Father may be honoured in the Son.
Und was ihr bitten werdet in meinem Namen, das will ich tun, auf daß der Vater geehret werde in dem Sohne
14 If you ask anything, in my Name, I will do it.
Was ihr bitten werdet in meinem Namen das will ich tun.
15 If you love me, you will lay my commands to heart,
Liebet ihr mich, so haltet meine Gebote.
16 and I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Helper, to be with you always — the Spirit of Truth. (aiōn g165)
Und ich will den Vater bitten, und er soll euch einen andern Tröster geben, daß er bei euch bleibe ewiglich, (aiōn g165)
17 The world cannot receive this Spirit, because it does not see him or recognise him, but you recognise him, because he is always with you, and is within you.
den Geist der Wahrheit, welchen die Welt nicht kann empfangen; denn sie siehet ihn nicht und kennet ihn nicht. Ihr aber kennet ihn; denn er bleibet bei euch und wird in euch sein.
18 I will not leave you bereaved; I will come to you.
Ich will euch nicht Waisen lassen; ich komme zu euch.
19 In a little while the world will see me no more, but you will still see me; because I am living, you will be living also.
Es ist noch um ein kleines, so wird mich die Welt nicht mehr sehen; ihr aber sollt mich sehen: denn ich lebe, und ihr sollt auch leben.
20 At that time you will recognise that I am in union with the Father, and you with me, and I with you.
An demselbigen Tage werdet ihr erkennen, daß ich in meinem Vater bin und ihr in mir und ich in euch.
21 It is he who has my commands and lays them to heart that loves me; and he who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I will love him, and will reveal myself to him.”
Wer meine Gebote hat und hält sie, der ist's, der mich liebet. Wer mich aber liebet, der wird von meinem Vater geliebet werden, und ich werde ihn lieben und mich ihm offenbaren.
22 “What has happened, Master,” said Judas (not Judas Iscariot), “that you are going to reveal yourself to us, and not to the world?”
Spricht zu ihm Judas, nicht der Ischariot: HERR, was ist's, daß du uns willst dich offenbaren und nicht der Welt?
23 “Whoever loves me,” Jesus answered, “will lay my Message to heart; and my Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our dwelling with him.
Jesus antwortete und sprach zu ihm: Wer mich liebet, der wird mein Wort halten; und mein Vater wird ihn lieben, und wir werden zu ihm kommen und Wohnung bei ihm machen.
24 He who does not love me will not lay my Message to heart; and the Message to which you are listening is not my own, but that of the Father who sent me.
Wer aber mich nicht liebet, der hält meine Worte nicht. Und das Wort, das ihr höret ist nicht mein, sondern des Vaters, der mich gesandt hat.
25 I have told you all this while still with you,
Solches hab' ich zu euch geredet, weil ich bei euch gewesen bin.
26 but the Helper — the Holy Spirit whom the Father will send in my Name — he will teach you all things, and will recall to your minds all that I have said to you.
Aber der Tröster, der Heilige Geist, welchen mein Vater senden wird in meinem Namen, derselbige wird's euch alles lehren und euch erinnern alles des, das ich euch gesagt habe.
27 Peace be with you! My own peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled, or dismayed.
Den Frieden lasse ich euch; meinen Frieden gebe ich euch. Nicht gebe ich euch, wie die Welt gibt. Euer Herz erschrecke nicht und fürchte sich nicht!
28 You heard me say that I was going away and would return to you. Had you loved me, you would have been glad that I was going to the Father, because the Father is greater than I.
Ihr habt gehöret, daß ich euch gesagt habe: Ich gehe hin und komme wieder zu euch. Hättet ihr mich lieb, so würdet ihr euch freuen, daß ich gesagt habe: Ich gehe zum Vater; denn der Vater ist größer denn ich.
29 And this I have told you now before it happens, that, when it does happen, you may still believe in me.
Und nun hab' ich's euch gesagt, ehe denn es geschiehet, auf daß, wenn es nun geschehen wird, daß ihr glaubet.
30 I shall not talk with you much more, for the Spirit that is ruling the world is coming. He has nothing in common with me;
Ich werde hinfort nicht mehr viel mit euch reden; denn es kommt der Fürst dieser Welt und hat nichts an mir.
31 but he is coming that the world may see that I love the Father, and that I do as the Father commanded me. Come, let us be going.
Aber daß die Welt erkenne, daß ich den Vater liebe, und ich also tue, wie mir der Vater geboten hat, stehet auf und lasset uns von hinnen gehen!
