Hebrews 4
1 We must, therefore, be very careful, though there is a promise still standing that we shall enter upon God’s Rest, that none of you even appear to have missed it.
૧એ માટે આપણે ડરવું જોઈએ એમ ન થાય, કે તેમના વિશ્રામમાં પ્રવેશ પામવાનું આશાવચન હજી એવું ને એવું હોવા છતાં તમારામાંનો કોઈ કદાચ ત્યાં પહોંચવામાં નિષ્ફળ થાય.
2 For we have had the Good News told us just as they had. But the Message which they heard did them no good, since they did not share the faith of those who were attentive to it.
૨કેમ કે જેમ ઇઝરાયલીઓને તેમ આપણને પણ સુવાર્તા પ્રગટ કરવામાં આવેલી છે; પણ સાંભળેલી વાત તેઓને લાભકારક થઈ નહિ. જેઓએ ધ્યાન દઈને સાંભળ્યું તેઓની સાથે તેઓ વિશ્વાસમાં સહમત થયા નહિ.
3 Upon that Rest we who have believed are now entering. As God has said — ‘In my wrath I swore — “They shall never enter upon my Rest;”’ Although God’s work was finished at the creation of the world;
૩આપણે વિશ્વાસ કરનારાઓ વિશ્રામમાં પ્રવેશ પામીએ છીએ, જેમ તેમણે કહ્યું છે કે, ‘મેં મારા ક્રોધાવેશમાં સમ ખાધા કે, તેઓ મારા વિશ્રામમાં પ્રવેશ પામશે નહિ,’ જોકે કે કામો તો સૃષ્ટિના આરંભથી પૂર્ણ થયેલાં હતાં.
4 for, in a passage referring to the seventh day, you will find these words — ‘God rested upon the seventh day after all his work.’
૪કેમ કે સાતમા દિવસ વિષે એક જગ્યાએ તેમણે એવું કહેલું છે કે, ‘સાતમે દિવસે ઈશ્વરે પોતાનાં સર્વ કામથી વિશ્રામ લીધો.’”
5 On the other hand, we read in that passage — ‘They shall never enter upon my Rest.’
૫અને એ જ જગ્યાએ તે ફરી કહે છે કે, ‘તેઓ મારા વિશ્રામમાં પ્રવેશ પામશે નહિ.’”
6 Since, then, there is still a promise that some shall enter upon this Rest, and since those who were first told the Good News did not enter upon it, because of their disbelief,
૬તેથી કેટલાકને તેમાં પ્રવેશ કરવાનું બાકી રહેલું છે અને જેઓને પહેલી સુવાર્તા પ્રગટ કરવામાં આવી હતી, તેઓએ આજ્ઞાભંગ કર્યો. તેથી તેઓ પ્રવેશ પામી શક્યા નહિ,
7 again God fixed a day. ‘To-day,’ he said, speaking after a long interval through the mouth of David, in the passage already quoted — ‘If to-day you hear God’s voice Harden not your hearts.’
૭માટે એટલી બધી વાર પછી ફરી નીમેલો દિવસ ઠરાવીને જેમ અગાઉથી કહેવામાં આવ્યું તેમ તે દાઉદ દ્વારા કહે છે કે, જો ‘આજે તમે તેની વાણી સાંભળો, તો તમે તમારાં હૃદયોને કઠણ ન કરો.’”
8 Now if Joshua had given ‘Rest’ to the people, God would not have spoken of another and later day.
૮કેમ કે જો યહોશુઆએ તેઓને તે વિશ્રામ આપ્યો હોત, તો તે પછી બીજા દિવસ સંબંધી ઈશ્વરે કહ્યું ન હોત.
9 There is, then, a Sabbath-Rest still awaiting God’s People.
૯એ માટે ઈશ્વરના લોકોને માટે વિશ્રામનો વાર હજી બાકી રહેલો છે.
10 For he who enters upon God’s Rest does himself rest after his work, just as God did.
૧૦કેમ કે જેમ ઈશ્વરે પોતાનાં કામોથી વિશ્રામ લીધો તેમ ઈશ્વરના વિશ્રામમાં જેણે પ્રવેશ કર્યો છે, તેણે પણ પોતાનાં કામથી વિશ્રામ લીધો છે.
11 Let us, therefore, make every effort to enter upon that Rest, so that none of us fall through such disbelief as that of which we have had an example.
૧૧એ માટે આપણે તે વિશ્રામમાં પ્રવેશવાને ખંતથી યત્ન કરીએ કે, એમ ન થાય કે આજ્ઞાભંગના એ જ ઉદાહરણ પ્રમાણે કોઈ પતિત થાય.
12 God’s Message is a living and active power, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing its way till it penetrates soul and spirit — not the joints only but the very marrow — and detecting the inmost thoughts and purposes of the mind.
૧૨કેમ કે ઈશ્વરનું વચન જીવંત, સમર્થ તથા બેધારી તલવાર કરતાં પણ વધારે તીક્ષ્ણ છે, તે જીવ, આત્મા, સાંધા તથા મજ્જાને જુદાં કરે એટલે સુધી વીંધનારું છે; અને હૃદયના વિચારોને તથા લાગણીઓને પારખી લેનારું છે.
13 There is no created thing that can hide itself from the sight of God. Everything is exposed and laid bare before the eyes of him to whom we have to give account.
૧૩ઉત્પન્ન કરેલું કંઈ તેની આગળ ગુપ્ત નથી; પણ જેમની સાથે આપણને કામ છે, તેમની દ્રષ્ટિમાં આપણે સઘળાં તદ્દન ઉઘાડાં છીએ.
14 We have, then, in Jesus, the Son of God, a great High Priest who has passed into the highest Heaven; let us, therefore, hold fast to the Faith which we have professed.
૧૪તો ઈશ્વરના પુત્ર ઈસુ જે સ્વર્ગમાં પ્રવેશ પામ્યા છે, એવા મહાન પ્રમુખ યાજક આપણને મળ્યા છે, માટે આપણે જે સ્વીકાર્યું છે તેને દૃઢતાથી પકડી રાખીએ.
15 Our High Priest is not one unable to sympathise with our weaknesses, but one who has in every way been tempted, exactly as we have been, but without sinning.
૧૫કેમ કે આપણી નિર્બળતા પર જેમને દયા ન આવે એવા નહિ, પણ તે સર્વ પ્રકારે આપણી જેમ પરીક્ષણ પામેલા છતાં નિષ્પાપ રહ્યા એવા આપણા પ્રમુખ યાજક છે.
16 Therefore, let us draw near boldly to the Throne of Love, to find pity and love for the hour of need.
૧૬એ માટે દયા પામવાને તથા યોગ્ય સમયે સહાયને માટે કૃપા પામવા સારુ આપણે હિંમતથી કૃપાસનની પાસે આવીએ.
