< 2 Corinthians 8 >
1 We would remind you, Brothers, of the love that God has shown to the Churches in Macedonia —
Wachalal, kamik kꞌut kaqaj kiwetaꞌmaj ri utoqꞌobꞌ ri Dios ri xuya chike ri komontyox ri e kꞌo pa Macedonia.
2 How, tired though they were by many a trouble, their overflowing happiness, and even their deep poverty, resulted in a flood of generosity.
We e komontyox riꞌ pune iꞌkꞌowinaq pa sibꞌalaj nimaq taq kꞌaxkꞌolal xuqujeꞌ e mebꞌa, sibꞌalaj nim sipanik xkiyaꞌo je ta ne chi qas e qꞌinomabꞌ.
3 I can bear witness that to the full extent of their power, and even beyond their power, spontaneously,
Qas xinwilo chi ri sipanik ri xkiyaꞌo qas pa kikꞌuꞌx xkꞌiy wi, man xa ta xetaqchiꞌxik, nim xkiyaꞌo cho ri qas kekwin chuyaꞌik.
4 and with many an appeal to us for permission, they showed their love, and contributed their share towards the fund for their fellow-Christians.
Sibꞌalaj xkita toqꞌobꞌ chaqe rech kekwinik ketobꞌanik, kakiya bꞌik ri sipanik chike ri e tyoxalaj taq winaq.
5 And that, not only in the way we had expected; but first they gave themselves to the Lord, and to us also, in accordance with God’s will.
Sibꞌalaj nim xkiyaꞌo cho ri qachomam apanoq uj rij, rumal cher tzi xkijach kibꞌ cho ri Ajawxel xuqujeꞌ chiqawach uj, jetaq ri karaj ri urayibꞌal kuꞌx ri Dios.
6 And this led us to urge upon Titus that, as he had started the work for you, he should also see to the completion of this expression of your love.
Rumal riꞌ xqata toqꞌobꞌ che ri Tito chi karilij ubꞌanik we chak riꞌ, rumal cher areꞌ majininaq kanoq ubꞌanik.
7 And, remembering how you excel in everything — in faith, in teaching, in knowledge, in unfailing earnestness, and in the affection that we have awakened in you — I ask you to excel also in this expression of your love.
Ix iwetaꞌm chi sibꞌalaj ix utz chubꞌanik ronojel, ix utz pa ri ikojobꞌal, pa taq ri itzij, pa ri iwetaꞌmabꞌal xuqujeꞌ pa ri iloqꞌanik chike nikꞌaj chik, rumal riꞌ chiwilij uyaꞌik ri sipanik.
8 I am not laying a command upon you, but I am making use of the earnestness shown by others to test the genuineness of your affection.
Man xa ta tajin kinbꞌij chi tzi jewaꞌ wi kabꞌan che, xane are kawaj kiwetaꞌmaj jas keyoꞌw sipanik ri nikꞌaj alaxik rech taq ri nikꞌaj taq komontyox chik, rech jeriꞌ kiwilo chi qas tzij ri kiloqꞌanik.
9 For you do not forget the loving-kindness of our Lord Jesus Christ — how that for your sakes, although he was rich, he became poor, so that you also might become rich through his poverty.
Ix iwetaꞌm chik ri utoqꞌobꞌ ri Ajawxel Jesucristo, chi pune qꞌinom, xux mebꞌa rumal iwech, rech rumal ri umebꞌail kixux qꞌinomabꞌ.
10 I am only making suggestions on this matter; for this is the best course for you, since you were a year before others, not only in taking action, but also in showing your readiness to do so.
Kinya jun inoꞌj puꞌwiꞌ we jastaq riꞌ. Ix xixnabꞌej chuyaꞌik ri isipanik junabꞌir, man xwi ta xiya ri isipanik, xane xibꞌan rukꞌ ronojel iwanimaꞌ.
11 And now I want you to complete the work, so that its completion may correspond with your willing readiness — in proportion, of course, to your means.
Chibꞌana bꞌa ri chak rukꞌ kiꞌkotemal, jas na kꞌu ri kixkwin chubꞌanik, chibꞌana ri xitzuj ubꞌanik.
12 For, where there is willingness, a man’s gift is valued by its comparison with what he has, and not with what he has not.
Rumal cher we jun kubꞌan rukꞌ ronojel ranimaꞌ ri utzujum ubꞌanik, utz kabꞌan chukꞌamik ri kutzuju, rumal cher man katoqꞌix ta che ri man kꞌo ta rukꞌ.
13 For our object is not to give relief to others and bring distress on you, but, by equalising matters, to secure that,
Man are ta kawaj chi kakiriq utzilal nikꞌaj chik rech maj kikoj ix, xane are kawaj junam ri kikojo.
14 on the present occasion, what you can spare may supply their need, so that at another time what they can spare may supply your need, and thus matters may be equalised.
Ri itobꞌanik katobꞌan chike pa ri kꞌaxal ri tajin kiꞌkow wi aꞌreꞌ, rech jampaꞌ chik ri kitobꞌanik aꞌreꞌ katobꞌan chi iwukꞌ ix, are kajawataj chi jun jastaq chiꞌwe.
15 As Scripture says — ‘The man who had much had nothing over, and the man who had little did not lack!’
Jacha ri kubꞌij ri Tzꞌibꞌatalik: Man kꞌo ta xkꞌojiꞌ kanoq rukꞌ ri nim xuyako, man kꞌo ta xuqujeꞌ xajawataj che ri nitzꞌ xuyako.
16 I thank God for inspiring Titus with the same keen interest in your welfare that I have;
Tyox che ri Dios, xuya pa ranimaꞌ ri Tito chi xkꞌaxir ukꞌuꞌx che ri kꞌaxirinaq wi na kꞌuꞌx in.
17 for Titus has responded to my appeals and, in his great earnestness, is starting to go to you of his own accord.
Puꞌkꞌuꞌx xpe wi xukꞌam uqꞌabꞌ ri xqabꞌij che, xuqujeꞌ xubꞌan rukꞌ kiꞌkotemal.
18 We are sending with him the Brother whose fame in the service of the Good News has spread through all the Churches;
Xqataq bꞌik rukꞌ ri alaxik ri sibꞌalaj nim xil kumal konojel ri e komontyox rumal ri upatanijik pa ri utz laj tzij.
19 and not only that, but he has been elected by the Churches to accompany us on our journey, in connexion with this expression of your love, which we are personally administering to the honour of the Lord, and to show our deep interest.
Ri e komontyox xuqujeꞌ xkichaꞌo we alaxik riꞌ rech kujrachiꞌlaj bꞌik are kaqakꞌam bꞌik ri sipanik, kaqabꞌan we riꞌ chukꞌutik chi kaqaqꞌijilaꞌj ri Ajawxel xuqujeꞌ kaqakꞌutu chi qas kꞌax qakꞌuꞌx chupatanixik.
20 What we are specially guarding against is that any fault should be found with us in regard to our administration of this charitable fund;
Man kaqaj taj kujyoqꞌik rukꞌ ri kaqabꞌan chukojik we jun nimalaj sipanik riꞌ,
21 for we are trying to make arrangements which shall be right, not only in the eyes of the Lord, but also in the eyes of men.
rumal cher kaqaj utz kaqabꞌan chukojik, man xwi ta cho ri Ajawxel, xane chikiwach konojel ri winaq.
22 We are also sending with them another of our Brothers, whose earnestness we have many a time proved in many ways, and whom we now find made even more earnest by his great confidence in you.
Kaqataq bꞌik ri qachalal ri sibꞌalaj ukꞌutum chiqawach chi sibꞌalaj sakꞌaj, qas xqꞌalajin chiqawach kamik chi sibꞌalaj jeqel ikꞌuꞌx chirij.
23 If I must say anything about Titus, he is my intimate companion, and he shares my work for you; if it is our Brothers, they are delegates of the Churches, an honour to Christ.
Are kꞌu ri Tito are wachiꞌl xuqujeꞌ toꞌl iwe, e taqtal bꞌik rumal ri komontyox, rech kakiya uqꞌij ri Cristo.
24 Show them, therefore — so that the Churches may see it — the proof of your affection, and the ground for our boasting to them about you.
Rumal kꞌu riꞌ chikꞌutu chikiwach we winaq riꞌ chi sibꞌalaj kiꞌloqꞌaj, xuqujeꞌ chikꞌutu chikiwach jas che nimal kaqanaꞌo rumal iwe, rech jeriꞌ kakil konojel ri e komontyox.
