1 John 2
1 My children, I am writing to you to keep you from sinning; but if any one should sin, we have one who can plead for us with the Father — Jesus Christ, the Righteous —
Meine Kinder, ich schreibe euch dieses, auf daß ihr nicht sündiget; und wenn jemand gesündigt hat [O. sündigt] -wir haben einen Sachwalter [O. Fürsprecher, Vertreter] bei dem Vater, Jesum Christum, den Gerechten.
2 and he is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not for ours only, but for those of the whole world besides.
Und er ist die Sühnung für unsere Sünden, nicht allein aber für die unseren, sondern auch für die ganze Welt.
3 And by this we know that we have learned to know him — by our laying his commands to heart.
Und hieran wissen [O. erkennen] wir, daß wir ihn kennen, [Eig. erkannt haben; die Erkenntnis hat angefangen und dauert fort; so auch v 4. 13. 14.] wenn wir seine Gebote halten.
4 The man who says ‘I know Jesus,’ but does not lay his commands to heart, is a liar, and the Truth has no place in him;
Wer da sagt: Ich kenne ihn, und hält seine Gebote nicht, ist ein Lügner, und in diesem ist die Wahrheit nicht.
5 but, whenever a man lays his Message to heart, in that man the love of God has indeed reached its perfection. By this we know that we are in union with God —
Wer aber irgend sein Wort hält, in diesem ist wahrhaftig die Liebe Gottes vollendet. Hieran wissen [O. erkennen] wir, daß wir in ihm sind.
6 He who professes to maintain union with God is himself bound to live as Christ lived.
Wer da sagt, daß er in ihm bleibe, ist schuldig, selbst auch so zu wandeln, wie er gewandelt hat.
7 Dear friends, it is no new command that I am writing to you, but an old command, which you have had from the first. That old command is the Message to which you listened.
Geliebte, nicht ein neues Gebot schreibe ich euch, sondern ein altes Gebot, welches ihr von Anfang hattet. Das alte Gebot ist das Wort, welches ihr gehört habt.
8 Yet, again, it is a new Command that I am writing to you — manifest in Christ’s life and in your own — for the Darkness is passing away and the true Light is already shining.
Wiederum schreibe ich euch ein neues Gebot, das was wahr ist in ihm und in euch, weil die Finsternis vergeht und das wahrhaftige Licht schon leuchtet.
9 He who says that he is in the Light, and yet hates his Brother, is in the Darkness even now.
Wer da sagt, daß er in dem Lichte sei und haßt seinen Bruder, ist in der Finsternis bis jetzt.
10 He who loves his Brother is always in the Light, and there is nothing within him to cause him to stumble;
Wer seinen Bruder liebt, bleibt in dem Lichte, und kein Ärgernis [O. kein Anlaß zum Anstoß] ist in ihm.
11 while he who hates his Brother is in the Darkness, and is living in the Darkness, and does not know where he is going, because the Darkness prevents his seeing.
Wer aber seinen Bruder haßt, ist in der Finsternis und wandelt in der Finsternis und weiß nicht, wohin er geht, weil die Finsternis seine Augen verblendet hat.
12 I am writing, Children, to you, because your sins have been forgiven you for Christ’s sake.
Ich schreibe euch, Kinder, weil euch die Sünden vergeben sind um seines Namens willen.
13 I am writing, Fathers, to you, because you have learned to know him who has been from the Beginning. I am writing, Young Men, to you, because you have conquered the Evil One. I write, Children, to you, because you have learned to know the Father.
Ich schreibe euch, Väter, weil ihr den erkannt habt, der von Anfang ist. Ich schreibe euch, Jünglinge, weil ihr den Bösen überwunden habt. Ich schreibe euch, Kindlein, weil ihr den Vater erkannt habt.
14 I write, Fathers, to you, because you have learned to know him who has been from the Beginning. I write, Young Men, to you, because you are strong, and God’s Message is always in your hearts, and you have conquered the Evil One.
Ich habe euch, Väter, geschrieben, weil ihr den erkannt habt, der von Anfang ist. Ich habe euch, Jünglinge, geschrieben, weil ihr stark seid und das Wort Gottes in euch bleibt und ihr den Bösen überwunden habt.
15 Do not love the world or what the world can offer. When any one loves the world, there is no love for the Father in him;
Liebet nicht die Welt, noch was in der Welt ist. Wenn jemand die Welt liebt, so ist die Liebe des Vaters nicht in ihm;
16 for all that the world can offer — the gratification of the earthly nature, the gratification of the eye, the pretentious life — belongs, not to the Father, but to the world.
denn alles, was in der Welt ist, die Lust des Fleisches und die Lust der Augen und der Hochmut des Lebens, ist nicht von [O. aus] dem Vater, sondern ist von [O. aus] der Welt.
17 And the world, and all that it gratifies, is passing away, but he who does God’s will remains for ever. (aiōn g165)
Und die Welt vergeht und ihre Lust; wer aber den Willen Gottes tut, bleibt in Ewigkeit. (aiōn g165)
18 My Children, these are the last days. You were told that an Anti-Christ was coming; and many Anti-Christs have already arisen. By that we know that these are the last days.
Kindlein, es ist die letzte Stunde, und wie ihr gehört habt, daß der Antichrist kommt, so sind auch jetzt viele Antichristen geworden; daher wissen wir, daß es die letzte Stunde ist.
19 From us, it is true, they went out, but they had never belonged to us; for, if they had belonged to us, they would have remained among us. They left us that it might be made clear that they do not, any of them, belong to us.
Sie sind von uns ausgegangen, aber sie waren nicht von uns; denn wenn sie von uns gewesen wären, so würden sie wohl bei uns geblieben sein; aber auf daß sie offenbar würden, daß sie alle nicht von uns sind.
20 You, however, have received consecration from the Holy One.
Und ihr habt die Salbung von dem Heiligen und wisset alles.
21 You all know — But I am not writing to you because you do not know the Truth, but because you do know it, and because nothing false can come from the Truth.
Ich habe euch nicht geschrieben, weil ihr die Wahrheit nicht wisset, sondern weil ihr sie wisset, und daß keine Lüge aus der Wahrheit ist.
22 Who is a liar, if not the man who rejects the truth that Jesus is the Christ? He is the Anti-Christ — The man who rejects the Father and the Son.
Wer ist der Lügner, wenn nicht der, der da leugnet, daß Jesus der Christus ist? Dieser ist der Antichrist, der den Vater und den Sohn leugnet.
23 No one who rejects the Son has found the Father; he who acknowledges the Son has found the Father also.
Jeder, der den Sohn leugnet, hat auch den Vater nicht; wer den Sohn bekennt, hat auch den Vater.
24 As for you, let what you were told at the first be always in your thoughts. If, then, what you were told at the first is always in your thoughts, you yourselves will maintain your union both with the Son and with the Father.
Ihr, was ihr von Anfang gehört habt, bleibe in euch. Wenn in euch bleibt, was ihr von Anfang gehört habt, so werdet auch ihr in dem Sohne und in dem Vater bleiben.
Und dies ist die Verheißung, welche er uns verheißen hat: das ewige Leben. (aiōnios g166)
26 In writing thus to you, I have in mind those who are trying to mislead you.
Dies habe ich euch betreffs derer geschrieben, die euch verführen.
27 But you — you still retain in your hearts that consecration which you received from the Christ, and are not in need of any one to teach you; but, since his consecration of you teaches you about everything, and since it is a real consecration, and no lie, then, as it has taught you, maintain your union with him.
Und ihr, die Salbung, die ihr von ihm empfangen habt, bleibt in euch, und ihr bedürfet nicht, daß euch jemand belehre, sondern wie dieselbe Salbung euch über alles belehrt und wahr ist und keine Lüge ist, und wie sie euch belehrt hat, so werdet ihr in ihm bleiben.
28 Yes, my Children, maintain your union with Christ, so that, whenever he appears, our confidence may not fail us, and we may not be ashamed to meet him at his coming.
Und nun, Kinder, bleibet in ihm, auf daß wir, wenn er geoffenbart werden wird, Freimütigkeit haben und nicht vor ihm [Eig. von ihm hinweg] beschämt werden bei seiner Ankunft.
29 Knowing him to be righteous, you realise that every one who lives righteously has received the new Life from him.
Wenn ihr wisset, daß er gerecht ist, so erkennet, [O. so erkennt ihr] daß jeder, der die Gerechtigkeit tut, aus ihm geboren ist. -
