Psalms 87

1 The city that Yahweh established is on his sacred hill.

Av Korahs born; ein salme, ein song. Det som han hev grunnfest på dei heilage fjelli,

2 He loves that city, Jerusalem, more than he loves any other city in Israel.

Sions portar elskar Herren mest av alle Jakobs bustader.

3 [You people in] [APO] the city that God (owns/lives in), people say wonderful things about your city.

Herlege ting er sagde um deg, du Guds by. (Sela)

4 [Some of those who know about God are the people of] Egypt and Babylonia, and also [the people of] Philistia and Tyre and Ethiopia; [some day they all] will say, “[Although I was not born in Jerusalem], [because I belong to Yahweh, it is as though] I was born there.”

«Eg vil nemna Rahab og Babel millom deim som kjenner meg; sjå Filistaren, Tyrus og Kusj: Denne er fødd der.»

5 And concerning Jerusalem, people will say [“It is as though] everyone was born there, and Almighty God will cause that city to remain strong/safe/secure.”

Og um Sion skal det verta sagt: «Kvar ein er fødd der», og han, den Høgste, gjer det fast.

6 Yahweh will write a list of [the names of] the people of various groups [who belong to him], and he will say that [he considers them] all to be citizens of Jerusalem.

Herren skal telja soleis, når folki vert uppskrivne: «Denne er fødd der.» (Sela)

7 They will all dance and sing, saying, “Jerusalem is the source of all our blessings.”

Og dei som syng og dei som dansar, skal segja: «Alle mine kjeldor er i deg.»
