Psalms 8

1 Yahweh, our Lord, people all over the world know that you [MTY] are very great! Your glory reaches up higher than the heavens!

En Psalm Davids, till att föresjunga på Gittith. Herre, vår Herre, huru härligit är ditt Namn i all land, der man tackar dig i himmelen.

2 You have taught little children and infants to praise you; they cause your enemies and those who try to (get revenge on/get rid of) you to be silent.

Utaf unga barnas och spenabarnas mun hafver du ena magt upprättat, för dina ovänners skull; att du skall nederlägga ovännen, och den hämndgiruga.

3 When I look up at the sky [at night], and see the things that you have made— the moon and the stars that you have set in place—

Ty jag skall se himlarna, dins fingers verk; månan och stjernorna, som du beredt hafver.

4 it is amazing [to me] that [RHQ] you think about people, that you are concerned about [us] humans!

Hvad är menniskan, att du tänker på henne; eller menniskones son, att du låter dig vårda om honom?

5 You made the angels in heaven to be only a little more important than we are; you caused us to be like kings [MET] and you gave us splendor and honor [DOU]!

Du skall låta honom en liten tid af Gudi öfvergifven varda; men med äro och härlighet skall du kröna honom.

6 You put us in charge of everything that you made; you gave us authority over all things—

Du skall göra honom till en herra öfver dina händers verk; all ting hafver du under hans fötter lagt:

7 the sheep and the cattle, and even the wild animals,

Får och fä alltsamman; vilddjuren också dertill;

8 the birds, the fish, and everything [else] that swims in the seas.

Foglarna under himmelen, och fiskarna i hafvet, och hvad i hafvena går.

9 Yahweh, our Lord, people all over the world know that you [MTY] are very great!

Herre, vår Herre, huru härligit är ditt Namn i all land.
