Psalms 75
1 We give thanks to you; our God, we thank you. You are close to us, and we proclaim to others the wonderful things that you have done [for us].
Nous te louons, ô Dieu, nous te louons, et ton nom est près de nous; on raconte tes merveilles.
2 [You have said], “I have appointed a time when I will judge people, and I will judge [everyone] fairly.
Au terme que j'ai fixé, je jugerai avec droiture.
3 When the earth shakes and all the creatures on the earth tremble, I am the one who will (keep its foundations steady/prevent it from being destroyed).
La terre tremblait avec tous ses habitants; moi j'ai affermi ses colonnes. (Sélah)
4 I say to people who (boast/talk proudly about themselves), ‘Stop bragging!’ and I say to wicked people, ‘Do not proudly [do things to] show how great you are [IDM]!
J'ai dit aux superbes: Ne faites pas les superbes; et aux méchants: Ne levez pas la corne;
5 Do not be arrogant, and do not speak so boastfully!’”
Ne levez pas votre corne en haut; ne raidissez pas le cou pour parler avec insolence!
6 The one who judges people does not come from the east or from the west, and he does not come from the desert.
Car ce n'est pas de l'orient, ni de l'occident, ni du désert que vient l'élévation;
7 God is the one who judges people; he says that some have sinned and must be punished, and that others have not done what is wrong.
Car c'est Dieu qui juge; il abaisse l'un et élève l'autre.
8 [It is as though] Yahweh holds a cup in his hand; it is filled with wine that [has spices] mixed in it [to cause those who drink it to become more drunk]; and when Yahweh pours it out, he will force all the wicked people to drink it; they will drink every drop of it, [which means that he will give them all the punishment that they deserve].
Car il y a dans la main de l'Éternel une coupe où le vin bouillonne; elle est pleine de vin mêlé, et il en verse; certes, tous les méchants de la terre en boiront les lies.
9 But [as for me], I will never stop saying what the God whom Jacob [worshiped has done]; I will never quit singing to praise him.
Et moi, je le raconterai à jamais; je chanterai au Dieu de Jacob.
10 He will destroy the power [IDM] of wicked people, but he will cause righteous people to become more powerful.
Je romprai toutes les forces des méchants; mais les forces du juste seront élevées.
