Psalms 47

1 You people all [over the world], clap your hands for joy! Shout joyfully to [praise] God!

Dem Musikmeister, von den Korahiten, ein Psalm. Ihr Völker alle, klatscht in die Hände,

2 Yahweh, who is much greater than any other god, is awesome; he is the king who rules over all the world!

Denn der HERR, der Höchste, ist furchtbar, ein mächtiger König über die ganze Erde.

3 He enabled us to defeat [the armies of] the people-groups [that lived in Canaan].

Er hat Völker unter unsre Herrschaft gebeugt und Völkerschaften unter unsre Füße;

4 He chose for us this land where we now live; we Israeli people [MTY], whom he loves, are proud that we own this land.

er hat uns unser Erbteil auserwählt, den Stolz Jakobs, den er liebt. (SELA)

5 God has gone up [into his temple]. The people shouted joyfully and blew trumpets as Yahweh went up.

Aufgefahren ist Gott unter Jauchzen, der HERR beim Schall der Posaunen.

6 Sing songs to praise our God! Sing to praise him [DOU]! Sing to God, our king!

Lobsinget Gott, lobsinget, lobsingt unserm König, lobsinget!

7 God is the one who rules over everything in the world; sing a psalm to him!

Denn König der ganzen Erde ist Gott: so singt ihm denn ein kunstvolles Lied!

8 God sits on his sacred throne as he rules over the people of [all] ethnic groups.

Gott ist König geworden über die Völker, Gott hat sich gesetzt auf seinen heiligen Thron.

9 The rulers of those people-groups gather as God’s people, the people [descended] from Abraham, [do]. But God has more power than the weapons/shields [of all the kings] on the earth; (he is greatly honored/people honor him) everywhere.

Die Edlen der Völker haben sich versammelt als das Volk des Gottes Abrahams; denn Gott sind untertan die Schilde der Erde: hoch erhaben steht er da.
