Psalms 46
1 God is the one who protects us and causes us to be strong; he is always ready to help us when we have troubles.
Au maître de chant. Des fils de Coré. Sur le ton des vierges. Cantique. Dieu est notre refuge et notre force; un secours que l’on rencontre toujours dans la détresse.
2 So, even if the earth shakes, we will not be afraid. Even if the mountains fall into the middle of the sea,
Aussi sommes-nous sans crainte si la terre est bouleversée, si les montagnes s’abîment au sein de l’océan,
3 and if the water in the sea roars and foams, and the hills shake violently, we will not be afraid!
si les flots de la mer s’agitent, bouillonnent, et, dans leur furie, ébranlent les montagnes. — Séla.
4 [Blessings that come from] God are like a river that makes everyone in the city where [we worship] God joyful. It is the city where the temple of God, who is greater than any other god, exists.
Un fleuve réjouit de ses courants la cité de Dieu, le sanctuaire où habite le Très-Haut.
5 God is in this city, and it will never be destroyed; he will [come to] help [the people in] that city at dawn every day.
Dieu est au milieu d’elle: elle est inébranlable; au lever de l’aurore, Dieu vient à son secours.
6 [Sometimes] the [people of many] nations are terrified; kingdoms (are overthrown/cease to exist); God speaks [loudly like thunder], and the earth melts (OR, people everywhere become terrified) [MET].
Les nations s’agitent, les royaumes s’ébranlent; il fait entendre sa voix et la terre se fond d’épouvante.
7 But Yahweh, the commander of the armies of heaven, is with us; the God whom Jacob worshiped (OR, we Israeli people worship) is our refuge.
Yahweh des armées est avec nous; le Dieu de Jacob est pour nous une citadelle. — Séla.
8 Come and (see/think about) the amazing things that Yahweh has done [DOU]!
Venez, contemplez les œuvres de Yahweh, les dévastations qu’il a opérées sur la terre!
9 He stops wars all over the world; he breaks bows [and arrows]; he destroys spears; he burns up shields.
Il a fait cesser les combats jusqu’au bout de ta terre, il a brisé l’arc, il a rompu la lance, il a consumé par le feu les chars de guerre:
10 [God says], “Be quiet, and remember that I am God! I will be honored by the people of all nations. I will be honored all over the earth.”
« Arrêtez et reconnaissez que je suis Dieu; je domine sur les nations, je domine sur la terre! »
11 [So never forget that] Yahweh, the commander of the armies of heaven, is with us; the God whom Jacob worshiped (OR, we Israeli people worship) is our refuge.
