Psalms 4
1 God, answer me when I pray to you. You are the one who vindicates me; Rescue me from things that distress me. Act mercifully toward me, and listen to me while I pray.
Au chef des chantres, avec accompagnement d’instruments à cordes. Psaume de David. Quand j’appelle, réponds-moi, Dieu de mon salut! Dans la détresse tu me mets au large; sois-moi favorable, écoute ma prière.
2 How long will you people cause me to be disgraced instead of honoring me [RHQ]? You [people] love to falsely accuse me.
Fils des hommes, jusqu’à quand mon honneur sera-t-il avili? Jusqu’à quand aimerez-vous les choses vaines, rechercherez-vous le mensonge? (Sélah)
3 All those who are loyal to Yahweh, he has chosen them to belong to him. Yahweh listens to me when I pray to him.
Sachez bien que l’Eternel distingue celui qui lui est fidèle, il entend quand je l’invoque.
4 When you people get angry, do not [allow your anger to control you and cause you to] sin. While you lie on your bed, silently examine what you are thinking.
Tremblez et ne péchez point; rentrez en vous-mêmes sur votre couche, et gardez le silence! (Sélah)
5 Also, offer to Yahweh the proper sacrifices, and continue trusting in him.
Immolez de pieux sacrifices, et mettez votre confiance en l’Eternel.
6 Some people ask, “Who will allow good things to happen to us?” [But I say], “Yahweh, continue to act kindly toward us.
Beaucoup disent: "Qui nous fera voir le bonheur?" Fais lever sur nous la lumière de ta face, ô seigneur!
7 You have made me very happy; I am happier than people who have harvested a great amount of grain and grapes.
Tu me mets plus de joie au cœur qu’à eux, au temps où abondent leur blé et leur vin.
8 I can lie down [at night] and sleep soundly because [I know that] you, Yahweh, will keep me safe.”
En paix, je me couche et m’endors aussitôt; car toi, ô Seigneur, même dans l’isolement, tu me fais demeurer en sécurité.
