< Psalms 18 >

1 Yahweh, I love you, the one who enables me to be strong.
[Kas ma David, mwet kulansap lun Leum God, el tu onkakin nu sin Leum ke len se ma Leum God El molella lukel Saul a kutu pa mwet lokoalok lal.] Nga arulana lungse kom, LEUM GOD! Kom ku luk.
2 Yahweh is like an [overhanging] rock [DOU, MET] [under which I can hide from my enemies]; he is like a strong fortress, the one who protects me; he protects me like a shield [MET] [protects a soldier]; he is the one to whom I go (for refuge/to be protected/safe), and he defends me by his great power [IDM].
LEUM GOD El eot ku luk, El nien wikla luk. God luk El mwe loeyuk luk, Ke nga muta yorol nga moul. El lisringyu oana sie mwe loeyuk; El loangeyu tuh nga in moul.
3 I called out to Yahweh, who deserves to be praised, and he rescued me from my enemies.
Nga pang nu sin LEUM GOD, Ac El moliyula liki mwet lokoalok luk. Kaksakin LEUM GOD!
4 All around me were dangerous situations in which I might be killed [PRS]; it was as though there were huge waves [MET] that almost crashed on me and killed me.
Mwe fosrnga lun misa apinyula, Ac noa lun kunausten toki nu fuk.
5 [It was as though] the place where dead people are had ropes that were wrapped around me, or [it was as though] there was a trap [MET] that would [seize and] kill me. (Sheol h7585)
Mwe fosrnga lun misa rauniyula, Ac mwe kwasrip lun kulyuk sruokyuwi. (Sheol h7585)
6 But when I was very distressed, I called out to Yahweh, and from his temple he heard me. He listened to me when I cried out [for help].
In ongoiya luk, nga pang nu sin LEUM GOD; Nga pang nu sin God luk Elan kasreyu. In Tempul lal El lohng pusrek, Ac El porongo pusren tung in kwafe luk.
7 Then the earth quaked/shook strongly [DOU]; the mountains shook very strongly from their centers [DOU] because Yahweh was angry.
Na faclu rarrar ac usrusryak; Pwelung lun eol uh mukuikui ac kusrusrsrusr, Mweyen God El kasrkusrak.
8 [It was as though] smoke poured out from his nostrils, and [as though] burning coals came out of his mouth.
Kulasr fofosryak liki infwacl. Sie e in kunausten ac mulut fol sikyak liki oalul.
9 He opened the sky and came down with a black cloud under his feet.
El ikaselik yen engyeng uh ac oatui Wi sie pukunyeng lohsr ye nial.
10 He flew, riding on the back of a creature that had wings, traveling [fast], blown along by the wind.
El sohksok mui fin sie cherub, Ac eng uh okulla arulana mui, oana sohk lun sie won.
11 Darkness was all around him [like a blanket] [MET]; dark clouds, full of moisture, covered him [MET].
El nokmulla ke lohsr; Pukunyeng matoltol, su sesesla ke kof, raunella.
12 Hailstones and flashes of lightning were around him; hail and burning coals fell from the sky.
Af yohk kosra ac e firir Tuku liki sarom uh ye mutal Ac kunauselik pukunyeng lohsr matoltol uh.
13 Then Yahweh [spoke in a loud voice] from the sky, and [his enemies] heard his voice that sounded like thunder.
Na pusren LEUM GOD ngirla oana pusren pulahl inkusrao me, Ac pusren El su Fulatlana lohngyuk.
14 He shot his arrows at them and caused them to scatter; His flashes of lightning caused them to become very confused (OR, to run away).
El pusrukla pisr natul, ac akfahsryelik mwet lokoalok lal; Ke sarmelik lun sarom, El oru elos kaingelik.
15 The bottom of the ocean became visible, and the foundations of the earth were uncovered, when Yahweh rebuked his enemies when he snorted.
Kapin meoa uh wanginla ma oan fac, Ac pwelung in faclu ikakelik, Ke kom mulat nu sin mwet lokoalok lom, O LEUM GOD, Ac ngirla nu selos ke kom kasrkusrak.
16 [It was as though] he reached down from heaven and grabbed me and pulled me up out of the deep ocean.
LEUM GOD El saplakme lucngi ac sruokyuwi; El amakinyuyak liki inkof loal.
17 He rescued me from my strong enemies who hated me; they were very strong, with the result that I [could not defeat them].
El moliyula liki mwet lokoalok kulana luk Ac lukelos nukewa su srungayu — Elos arulana kula nu sik.
18 When I (was distressed/had troubles), they attacked me, but Yahweh defended/protected me.
Ke nga muta in ongoiya, elos lainyu, Tusruktu LEUM GOD El loangeyula.
19 He led me to a place where I was safe; he rescued me because he was pleased with me.
El eisyula liki mwe fosrnga; El moliyula mweyen El insewowo sik.
20 Yahweh has rewarded me because I do what is right; he has blessed me because I (am innocent/have not done things that are wrong).
LEUM GOD El ase lacnen orekma suwohs luk; El akinsewowoyeyu mweyen wangin mwetik.
21 I have obeyed Yahweh’s laws; I have not abandoned him.
Nga akos na ma sap lun LEUM GOD; Nga tiana forla liki God luk.
22 My behavior was directed by his rules; I have not stopped obeying them.
Nga karinganang ma sap lal nukewa; Nga tia seakos ma El sapkin.
23 He knows that I have not done what is wrong; I have kept myself from sinning.
El etu lah wangin ma sutuu luk, Ac lah nga sifacna taranyu tuh nga in tia oru ma koluk.
24 So he rewards me because I do what is right; he knows that I [SYN] have not committed sins.
Ke ma inge El ase lacnen orekma suwohs luk; Mweyen El etu lah wangin mwetik.
25 Yahweh, you are faithful to those who faithfully [do what you tell them to do]; you always do what is good/right to those who do what you want them to do.
O LEUM GOD, kom oaru nu selos su oaru nu sum; Kom arulana wo nu selos su moul suwohs.
26 You are kind to those who are kind to others, but you act wisely toward those who (act perversely/do bad things).
Kom nasnas nu selos su nasnas, A kom kwaselos su koluk.
27 You save those who are humble, but you cause those who are proud to be humiliated/ashamed.
Kom molelos su inse pusisel, Ac kom akpusiselyalos su inse fulat.
28 You give light to my [soul/spirit]; you take away the darkness of my soul.
O LEUM GOD, kom ase kalem nu sik; Kom sisla lohsr likiyu.
29 You enable me to be strong, with the result that I can run and attack a line of enemy soldiers; with your help I can (scale/climb up) the walls [that surround my enemies’ cities].
Kom ase ku luk in lain mwet lokoalok luk, Ac akkeyeyu in fanyak ac sasla pot ku lalos.
30 Everything that Yahweh my God does is perfect. We can depend on him to do what he promises. He is like a shield [MET] to protect all those who go to him for refuge.
God se inge — ma nukewa El oru arulana suwohs! Kas lal uh arulana fal in lulalfongiyuk! El oana sie mwe loeyuk Nu selos nukewa su suk molela sel.
31 Yahweh is [RHQ] the only one who is God; only he is like an [overhanging] rock [under which we can be safe].
LEUM GOD El mukena God; El mukena mwe molela nu sesr.
32 God is the one who enables me to be strong and who keeps me safe on the roads that I walk on.
El pa God su oru tuh nga in ku, El oru inkanek luk in misla ac wo.
33 He enables me to [walk swiftly without stumbling], like a deer walks/runs in the mountains.
El oru falkuk in okak oana falken kosro deer; El karinginyu ke nga fahsr fineol.
34 He teaches me how to use a strong/metal bow in order that I can use it to fight in battles.
El akpahyeyu nu ke mweun, Tuh nga in ku in orekmakin mwe pisr kulana.
35 Yahweh, you protect and save me with your shield; you have made me safe by your power [MTY]. I have become (strong/a great [king]) because you have helped me.
O LEUM GOD, kom karinginyu ac moliyu, Ac ku lom sruokyuwi in misla. Kasru lom akmwetyeyu.
36 You have cleared the road for me, with the result that now I do not slip/stumble.

37 I have pursued my enemies and caught them; I did not stop until I had defeated/killed them all.
Nga ukwe mwet lokoalok luk ac sruokolosi; Nga tia tui nwe ke na nga kunauselosla.
38 When I strike them, they are not able to get up again; they lie on the ground, defeated.

39 You have enabled me to be strong in order that I can fight battles and defeat my enemies.
Kom ase ku luk in mweun, Ac se kutangla nu sik fin mwet lokoalok luk.
40 You caused my enemies to run away (OR, you enabled me to put my foot on my enemies’ necks [after I captured them and forced them to lie on the ground]); I have gotten rid of all those who hated me.
Kom oru tuh mwet lokoalok luk in kaing likiyu; Nga kunauselosla su srungayu.
41 They called out for someone to help them, but no one saved them.
Elos tung ac siyuk kasru, a wangin mwet molelosla; Elos pang nu sin LEUM GOD, a El tiana topuk.
42 I pulverize them, with the result that they become like [MET] the dust that the wind [blows away]; I throw them out like [SIM] [people throw] dirt out into the streets.
Nga itungulosi, ac elos ekla oana kutkut Su eng uh okla. Nga fotongolosi oana fohk furarrar inkanek uh.
43 You enabled me to defeat those who fought against me, and appointed me to be the ruler of [many]; people whom I did not know about previously are now slaves [in my kingdom].
Kom moliyula liki mwet su lainyu Ac kom oru tuh nga in kol mutanfahl uh; Mwet su nga tia etu meet, inge elos orekma nu sik.
44 When foreigners hear about me, they (cringe/bow low before me) and they obey me.
Mwetsac elos epasr ye mutuk; Ke elos lohng pusrek elos akos.
45 They are no longer courageous, and from their forts [where they were hiding] they come [to me] trembling.
Pulaik lalos wanginla Ac elos rarrar ke elos tuku liki pot ku lalos.
46 Yahweh is alive! Praise the one who is like an [overhanging] rock [MET] [under which I am safe] Exalt the God who saves me!
LEUM GOD El moul! Kaksakin El su nien molela luk! Sulkakinelik pwengpeng lun God su moliyula.
47 He enables me to get revenge on my enemies; he causes me to defeat nations and to rule over them,
El ase kutangla fin mwet lokoalok luk; El akpusiselye mutunfacl su oan ye ku luk,
48 and he rescues me from my enemies. He has lifted me up high so that violent men could not reach me [and harm me].
Ac moliyula liki mwet lokoalok luk. O LEUM GOD, kom ase kutangla nu sik fin mwet lokoalok luk, Ac moliyula liki mwet sulallal.
49 So I praise him [and I tell] the nations [the great things that he has done].
Ke ma inge nga kaksakin kom inmasrlon mutunfacl uh; Nga onkakin on in kaksak nu sum.
50 He has enabled me, his king, to powerfully defeat my enemies; he faithfully loves me, David, the one he has chosen [to be king], and he will faithfully love my descendants forever.
God El sang kutangla lulap nu sin tokosra lal; El akkalemye lungse kawil lal nu sel su El sulela, Aok, nu sel David ac fwil natul nwe tok.
