< Psalms 16 >
1 God, protect me because I go to you to keep me safe!
Ko e Saame mahuʻinga ʻa Tevita. ʻE ʻOtua, ke ke fakamoʻui au: he ʻoku ou falala kiate koe.
2 I said to Yahweh, “You are my Lord; all the good things that I have come from you.”
ʻE hoku laumālie, naʻa ke pehē kia Sihova, “Ko hoku ʻEiki koe: ʻoku ʻikai aʻu atu ʻeku angalelei kiate koe;”
3 Your people who live in this land are wonderful; I delight to be with them.
Ka ki he kau māʻoniʻoni ʻoku ʻi māmani, pea ki he angalelei, ʻoku ʻiate kinautolu ʻeku fiefia kotoa pē.
4 Those who choose to worship other gods will have many things that cause them to be sad. I will not join them when they make sacrifices [to their gods]; I will not even join them when they speak [MTY] the names of their gods.
ʻE ʻāsili ai ʻae mamahi ʻokinautolu ʻoku kumi ʻotua kehe: ko ʻenau ngaahi feilaulau inu ʻoe toto ʻe ʻikai te u ʻatu, pe toʻo hake honau ngaahi hingoa ki hoku loungutu.
5 Yahweh, you are the one whom I have chosen, and you give me great blessings. You protect me and control what happens to me.
Ko hono lelei ʻo hoku tofiʻa mo ʻeku ipu ʻa Sihova: ʻoku ke tauhi hoku talotalo.
6 Yahweh has given me a wonderful place in which to live; I am delighted with all the things that he has given me [MET].
Kuo falō kiate au ʻae ngaahi afo ʻi he ngaahi potu matamatalelei; ʻio, kuo u maʻu ʻae tofiʻa lelei.
7 I will praise Yahweh, the one who teaches/disciplines me; even at night [he] you put in my mind what is right for me to do.
Te u fakafetaʻi kia Sihova, ʻaia kuo ne akonakiʻi au: ko hoku kofuua foki ʻoku na akonakiʻi au ʻi he ngaahi feituʻu pō.
8 I know that Yahweh is always with me. He is beside me; so nothing will (perturb me/cause me to be worried).
Kuo u fokotuʻu maʻuaipē ʻa Sihova ʻi hoku ʻao: ko e meʻa ʻi heʻene ʻi hoku nima toʻomataʻu, ʻe ʻikai ai te u ngaue.
9 Therefore I am glad and I [MTY, DOU] rejoice; I can rest securely
Ko ia ʻoku fiefia ai hoku loto, pea nekeneka mo hoku ʻelelo: ʻe mālōlō foki ʻa hoku sino ʻi he ʻamanaki lelei.
10 because you, Yahweh, will not allow my soul/spirit to remain in the place where the dead people are; you will not allow me, your godly one, to stay there. (Sheol )
Koeʻuhi ʻe ʻikai te ke tuku hoku laumālie ʻi hētesi; pea ʻe ʻikai te ke tuku ho tokotaha māʻoniʻoni ke ne ʻilo ʻae ʻauʻauha. (Sheol )
11 You will show me the road that leads to [receiving eternal] life, and you will make me joyful when I am with you. I will have pleasure forever when I am (at your right hand/seated next to you).
Te ke fakahā kiate au ʻae hala ʻoe moʻui: ʻoku fonu ʻae fiefia ʻi ho ʻao; ʻoku ʻi ho nima toʻomataʻu ʻae ngaahi fiemālie ʻo taʻengata.
