< Psalms 132 >

1 Yahweh, do not forget [King] David and all the hardships/troubles he endured!
Ko e Hiva ʻae ʻalu hake. ‌ʻE Sihova, ke ke manatu kia Tevita, mo ʻene mamahi kotoa pē:
2 He made a solemn promise to you, the mighty God whom [our ancestor] Jacob [worshiped].
‌ʻA ʻene fuakava kia Sihova, mo ʻene lea fakapapau ki he ʻOtua mālohi ʻa Sēkope;
3 He said, “I will not go home, I will not [rest] on my bed,
“Ko e moʻoni ʻe ʻikai te u ʻalu ki hoku fale nofoʻanga, pe ʻalu hake ki hoku mohenga;
4 I will not sleep at all
‌ʻE ʻikai te u tuku ʻae mohe ki hoku mata, pe ko e tulemohe ki hoku laumata,
5 until I build a place for Yahweh, a home for the mighty God whom Jacob [worshiped].”
Kaeʻoua ke u ʻilo ha potu moʻo Sihova, ko e ʻafioʻanga ki he ʻOtua mālohi ʻo Sēkope.”
6 In Bethlehem we heard news about the sacred chest. We [went and] found it in the fields of Jearim [city, and we took it to Jerusalem].
Vakai, naʻa tau fanongo ki ai ʻi ʻEfalata: pea naʻa tau ʻilo ia ʻi he ngaahi ngoue ʻoe vao.
7 [Later we said], “Let’s go to the temple of Yahweh [in Jerusalem]; let’s worship [there] in front of the throne [where he sits].”
“Te tau hū ki hono ngaahi fale fehikitaki: te tau lotu ʻi hono tuʻunga vaʻe.”
8 Yahweh, come to the place where you live eternally, to the place where your sacred chest is, to that place that shows that you are very powerful.
Tuʻu hake, ʻE Sihova, ki ho mālōlōʻanga; ʻa koe, mo e puha ʻoe fuakava ʻo ho mālohi.
9 I want/desire that the righteous behavior of your priests [will always be evident], [just like the beautiful] robes that they wear [MET], and that your people will [always] shout joyfully.
Ke kofuʻaki ʻe hoʻo kau taulaʻeiki ʻae angatonu; pea ke kalanga ʻi he fiefia ʻa hoʻo kakai māʻoniʻoni.
10 You chose David to serve you [as king of Israel]; do not reject/abandon him!
Koeʻuhi ko hoʻo tamaioʻeiki ko Tevita, ʻoua naʻa ke fakatafoki ʻae mata ʻo hoʻo pani.
11 Yahweh, you made a solemn promise to David, a promise that you will not break. You said, “I will cause your descendants to rule [MTY] as kings like you.
Kuo fuakava ʻa Sihova ʻi he moʻoni kia Tevita; ʻe ʻikai te ne liliu mei ai; “Te u fokotuʻu ki ho nofoʻa ʻae fua ʻo ho sino.
12 If they keep my agreement with them and obey [all] the commands that I will give them, the line of kings descended from you will never end.”
Kapau ʻe fai ʻe hoʻo fānau ki heʻeku fuakava mo ʻeku fakamoʻoni ʻaia te u ako kiate kinautolu, ʻe nofo foki ʻenau fānau ʻi ho nofoʻa fakaʻeiʻeiki ʻo lauikuonga.”
13 Yahweh has chosen Jerusalem; he has wanted to make that city his home;
He kuo fili ʻe Sihova ʻa Saione; kuo ne finangalo ki ai ko hono ʻafioʻanga.
14 he said, “This is the city where I will live forever [DOU]; this is the place where I wanted to stay.
“Ko hoku mālōlōʻanga eni ʻo taʻengata: te u nofo ʻi heni; he naʻaku finangalo ki ai.
15 I will give to the people of Jerusalem all that they need; I will give [enough] food [even] to satisfy the poor people there.
Ko e moʻoni te u tāpuaki lahi hono meʻakai: te u fakamākona ʻa hono kau masiva ʻaki ʻae mā.
16 I will cause the priests [to behave in a manner worthy of] being ones whom I have saved; [that will be as evident as the beautiful] robes that they wear [MET]; and all my people who live there will shout joyfully.
Te u fakakofu foki ʻene kau taulaʻeiki ʻaki ʻae fakamoʻui: pea ko ʻene kau māʻoniʻoni tenau kalanga ʻo leʻo lahi ʻi he fiefia.
17 There [in Jerusalem] I will cause one of David’s descendants [MET] to become a great king; he also will be my chosen king, and he will be [like a bright] lamp [MET] [that shines continually].
Te u ngaohi ke moto ai ʻae nifo ʻo Tevita: kuo u tuʻutuʻuni ʻae maama ʻa ʻeku pani.
18 I will [defeat his] enemies and cause them to be very ashamed/disgraced; but the crown that my king wears will [always] shine.”
Te u fakakofuʻaki hono ngaahi fili ʻae mā: ka ʻe maʻuiʻui ʻa hono tatā ʻiate ia.”
