Psalms 129

1 [I say that] my enemies have (afflicted/caused trouble for) me ever since I was young. [Now I ask you, my fellow] Israelis, to repeat those same words:

आराधना के लिए यात्रियों का गीत. “मेरे बचपन से वे मुझ पर घोर अत्याचार करते आए हैं,” इस्राएल राष्ट्र यही कहे;

2 “Our enemies have afflicted us since our nation began, but they have not defeated us!

“मेरे बचपन से वे मुझ पर घोर अत्याचार करते आए हैं, किंतु वे मुझ पर प्रबल न हो सके हैं.

3 [Our enemies struck us with whips] that cut into our backs [MET] like a [farmer uses a] plow to cut deep furrows into the ground.”

हल चलानेवालों ने मेरे पीठ पर हल चलाया है, और लम्बी-लम्बी हल रेखाएं खींच दी हैं.

4 [But] Yahweh is righteous, and he has freed [me] from being a slave [MTY] of wicked [people].

किंतु याहवेह युक्त है; उन्हीं ने मुझे दुष्टों के बंधनों से मुक्त किया है.”

5 I wish/hope that all those who hate Jerusalem/Israel will be ashamed because of being defeated.

वे सभी, जिन्हें ज़ियोन से बैर है, लज्जित हो लौट जाएं.

6 I hope/wish that they will be [of no value], like grass that grows on the roofs of houses that dries up and does not grow tall;

उनकी नियति भी वही हो, जो घर की छत पर उग आई घास की होती है, वह विकसित होने के पूर्व ही मुरझा जाती है;

7 [as a result] no one [cuts it and] puts it in bundles and carries it away.

किसी के हाथों में कुछ भी नहीं आता, और न उसकी पुलियां बांधी जा सकती हैं.

8 People who pass by [and see men harvesting grain usually greet them by saying to them], “We wish/hope that Yahweh will bless you!” But this will not happen [to those who hate Israel]. We, acting as Yahweh’s representatives, bless you [Israelis.]

आते जाते पुरुष यह कभी न कह पाएं, “तुम पर याहवेह की कृपादृष्टि हो; हम याहवेह के नाम में तुम्हारे लिए मंगल कामना करते हैं.”
