< Psalms 129 >

1 [I say that] my enemies have (afflicted/caused trouble for) me ever since I was young. [Now I ask you, my fellow] Israelis, to repeat those same words:
Se yon chante pou yo chante lè y'ap moute lavil Jerizalèm. Nou menm, pèp Izrayèl se pou nou rekonèt sa: Yo te fè nou pase kont mizè nou depi nou te jenn.
2 “Our enemies have afflicted us since our nation began, but they have not defeated us!
Wi, depi nou te jenn, yo te fè nou pase kont mizè nou, men yo pa t' janm rive mete pye sou kou nou.
3 [Our enemies struck us with whips] that cut into our backs [MET] like a [farmer uses a] plow to cut deep furrows into the ground.”
Yo tonbe sou do nou, ou ta di moun k'ap bat tè pou plante.
4 [But] Yahweh is righteous, and he has freed [me] from being a slave [MTY] of wicked [people].
Men, Seyè a pa nan patipri, li koupe kòd mechan yo te pase nan kou nou.
5 I wish/hope that all those who hate Jerusalem/Israel will be ashamed because of being defeated.
Moun ki pa vle wè moun Siyon yo, se pou yo wont, se pou yo fè bak.
6 I hope/wish that they will be [of no value], like grass that grows on the roofs of houses that dries up and does not grow tall;
Se pou yo tankou plant k'ap pouse arebò glasi: y'ap cheche anvan menm yo donnen.
7 [as a result] no one [cuts it and] puts it in bundles and carries it away.
Moun k'ap ranmase rekòt p'ap okipe yo menm, moun k'ap antre rekòt la p'ap mete yo nan pakèt li.
8 People who pass by [and see men harvesting grain usually greet them by saying to them], “We wish/hope that Yahweh will bless you!” But this will not happen [to those who hate Israel]. We, acting as Yahweh’s representatives, bless you [Israelis.]
Moun k'ap pase bò la yo p'ap di: -Se pou Seyè a beni nou! N'ap beni ou nan non Seyè a!
