Psalms 124

1 You Israeli [people], [answer this question]: What [would have happened to us] if Yahweh had not been (helping/fighting for) us?

Cântico dos degraus, de Davi: Diga, Israel: O que [seria de nós] se o SENHOR não estivesse conosco?

2 When [our enemies] attacked us, if Yahweh had not been fighting for us,

Se o SENHOR não estivesse conosco, quando os homens se levantaram contra nós,

3 we would have all been killed [IDM] because they were very angry with us!

Eles teriam nos devorado vivos, quando o furor deles se acendeu contra nós.

4 [They would have been like] [MET] a flood that swept/carried us away; [it would have been as though] the water would have covered us,

As águas teriam nos coberto, [e] a corrente de águas teria passado por sobre nossas almas.

5 and we would [all] have drowned in the flood that was (raging/flowing very fast).

Águas violentas teriam passado por sobre nossas almas.

6 [But] praise Yahweh, because he has not allowed our [enemies to destroy us] [like wild animals] [MET] tear apart [the creatures that they capture].

Bendito seja o SENHOR, que não nos entregou como presa aos dentes deles.

7 We have escaped [from our enemies] like a bird escapes from the trap that hunters have set; [it is as though] the trap [that our enemies set for us] was broken and we have escaped from it!

Nossa alma escapou como um pássaro da armadilha dos caçadores; a cadeia se quebrou, e nós escapamos.

8 Yahweh is the one who helps us [MTY]; he is the one who made heaven and the earth.

Nosso socorro está no nome do SENHOR, que fez o céu e a terra.
