< Psalms 121 >

1 [When we travel toward Jerusalem], I look up toward the hills [and I ask myself], “Who will help me?”
Thaburi ya Agendi Nĩngũtiira maitho makwa ndore irĩma-inĩ: ũteithio wakwa ũngiuma na kũ?
2 [And my answer is] that Yahweh is the one who helps me; he is the one who made heaven and the earth.
Ũteithio wakwa uumaga kũrĩ Jehova, o we Mũũmbi wa igũrũ na thĩ.
3 He will not allow us to fall/stumble; God, who protects us, will not fall asleep.
We ndangĩreka kũgũrũ gwaku gũtirũke: ũcio mũmenyereri waku ndarĩ hĩndĩ angĩcũnga;
4 The one who protects us Israeli people never gets sleepy, nor does he sleep [LIT].
ti-itherũ, ũcio mũmenyereri wa Isiraeli ndarĩ hĩndĩ angĩcũnga, kana ahĩtwo nĩ toro.
5 Yahweh watches over us; he is like the shade [MET] [that protects us from the sun].
Jehova nĩwe ũkũmenyagĩrĩra: Jehova nĩwe kĩĩruru gĩaku guoko-inĩ gwaku kwa ũrĩo;
6 [He will not allow] the sun to harm us during the day, and [he will not allow] the moon to harm us during the night.
mũthenya wee ndũngĩringĩka nĩ riũa, kana ũringĩke nĩ mweri ũtukũ.
7 Yahweh will protect us from being harmed in any manner; he will keep us safe.
Jehova nĩarĩkũgitagĩra kuuma ũũru-inĩ wothe: nĩarĩĩmenyagĩrĩra muoyo waku;
8 He will protect us from the time that we leave [our houses in the morning] until we return [in the evening]; he will protect us now, and he will protect us forever.
Jehova nĩarĩkũmenyagĩrĩra ũkiumagara na ũgĩcooka, kuuma rĩu nginya tene na tene.
