Psalms 121

1 [When we travel toward Jerusalem], I look up toward the hills [and I ask myself], “Who will help me?”

Ein Lied für Wallfahrten. Ich hebe meine Augen auf zu den Bergen:

2 [And my answer is] that Yahweh is the one who helps me; he is the one who made heaven and the earth.

Meine Hilfe kommt vom HERRN, der Himmel und Erde geschaffen.

3 He will not allow us to fall/stumble; God, who protects us, will not fall asleep.

Er wird deinen Fuß nicht wanken lassen; nicht schlummert dein Hüter.

4 The one who protects us Israeli people never gets sleepy, nor does he sleep [LIT].

Nein, nicht schlummert und nicht schläft der Hüter Israels.

5 Yahweh watches over us; he is like the shade [MET] [that protects us from the sun].

Der HERR ist dein Hüter, der HERR dein Schatten über deiner rechten Hand,

6 [He will not allow] the sun to harm us during the day, and [he will not allow] the moon to harm us during the night.

daß dich bei Tage die Sonne nicht sticht, noch der Mond in der Nacht.

7 Yahweh will protect us from being harmed in any manner; he will keep us safe.

Der HERR behütet dich vor allem Übel, er behütet deine Seele;

8 He will protect us from the time that we leave [our houses in the morning] until we return [in the evening]; he will protect us now, and he will protect us forever.

der HERR behütet deinen Ausgang und Eingang von nun an bis in Ewigkeit.
