Psalms 121

1 [When we travel toward Jerusalem], I look up toward the hills [and I ask myself], “Who will help me?”

Een lied Hammaaloth. Ik hef mijn ogen op naar de bergen, vanwaar mijn hulp komen zal.

2 [And my answer is] that Yahweh is the one who helps me; he is the one who made heaven and the earth.

Mijn hulp is van den HEERE, Die hemel en aarde gemaakt heeft.

3 He will not allow us to fall/stumble; God, who protects us, will not fall asleep.

Hij zal uw voet niet laten wankelen; uw Bewaarder zal niet sluimeren.

4 The one who protects us Israeli people never gets sleepy, nor does he sleep [LIT].

Ziet, de Bewaarder Israels zal niet sluimeren, noch slapen.

5 Yahweh watches over us; he is like the shade [MET] [that protects us from the sun].

De HEERE is uw Bewaarder, de HEERE is uw Schaduw, aan uw rechterhand.

6 [He will not allow] the sun to harm us during the day, and [he will not allow] the moon to harm us during the night.

De zon zal u des daags niet steken, noch de maan des nachts.

7 Yahweh will protect us from being harmed in any manner; he will keep us safe.

De HEERE zal u bewaren van alle kwaad; uw ziel zal Hij bewaren.

8 He will protect us from the time that we leave [our houses in the morning] until we return [in the evening]; he will protect us now, and he will protect us forever.

De HEERE zal uw uitgang en uw ingang bewaren, van nu aan tot in der eeuwigheid.
