Psalms 120

1 When I had troubles, I called out to Yahweh and he answered me.

Ein Wallfahrtslied. Ich rief zum HERRN in meiner Not:

2 [I prayed], “Yahweh, rescue/save me from people [SYN, MTY] who lie to me and [try to] deceive me!”

O HERR, errette mich von der Lügenlippe, von der trügerischen Zunge!

3 You people who lie to me, [I will tell you] [RHQ] what [God] will do to you and what he will do to punish you.

Was wird Er dir jetzt und in Zukunft bescheren, du trügerische Zunge?

4 He will shoot sharp arrows at you like soldiers do, and he will [burn you with] red-hot coals from [the wood of] a broom tree.

Geschärfte Kriegerpfeile samt Kohlen vom Ginsterstrauch!

5 It is terrible for me, living among cruel/savage [DOU] people [like those who live] in Meshech [region] and Kedar [region].

Wehe mir, daß ich als Fremdling in Mesech weile, daß ich wohne bei den Zelten von Kedar!

6 I have lived for a long time among people who hate [to live with others] peacefully.

Lange genug schon weile ich hier bei Leuten, die den Frieden hassen.

7 Every time I talk about living together peacefully, they talk about starting a war.

Ich bin ganz friedlich gestimmt, doch was ich auch rede: sie gehen auf Krieg aus.
