< Psalms 120 >

1 When I had troubles, I called out to Yahweh and he answered me.
Wallfahrtslieder. Zu Jahwe in meiner Not rief ich, und er erhörte mich.
2 [I prayed], “Yahweh, rescue/save me from people [SYN, MTY] who lie to me and [try to] deceive me!”
Jahwe, errette meine Seele von lügnerischer Lippe, von trügerischer Zunge.
3 You people who lie to me, [I will tell you] [RHQ] what [God] will do to you and what he will do to punish you.
Was giebt dir und was mehrt dir die trügerische Zunge?
4 He will shoot sharp arrows at you like soldiers do, and he will [burn you with] red-hot coals from [the wood of] a broom tree.
Geschärfte Kriegerpfeile samt Ginsterkohlen!
5 It is terrible for me, living among cruel/savage [DOU] people [like those who live] in Meshech [region] and Kedar [region].
Wehe mir, daß ich bei Mesech zu Gaste bin, bei den Zelten Kedars wohne!
6 I have lived for a long time among people who hate [to live with others] peacefully.
Zu lange schon wohnt meine Seele bei solchen, die den Frieden hassen.
7 Every time I talk about living together peacefully, they talk about starting a war.
Ich bin ganz Friede, aber wenn ich etwas rede, sind sie auf Kampf aus.
