Psalms 115
1 Yahweh, people should praise [only] you [MTY]; they must praise you, not us, because you faithfully love us and always do what you have promised to do.
Non point à nous, ô Éternel, non point à nous. Mais à ton nom donne gloire; Car toi seul tu es bon et fidèle!
2 It is not right that [RHQ] [other] people-groups should say about us, “[They claim that] their God [is very powerful], but [if that is true], why does he not [help them]?”
Pourquoi les nations diraient-elles: «Où est donc leur Dieu?»
3 Our God is in heaven, and he does whatever he wants to!
Notre Dieu est dans les cieux; Il fait tout ce qui lui plaît!
4 [But] their idols are only [statues made of] silver and gold, things that humans have made.
Leurs idoles sont des ouvrages d'argent et d'or, Des oeuvres faites par la main des hommes.
5 Their idols have mouths, but they cannot say [anything]; they have eyes, but they cannot see [anything].
Elles ont une bouche, et elles ne parlent pas; Elles ont des yeux, et elles ne voient pas.
6 They have ears, but they cannot hear [anything]; they have noses, but they cannot smell [anything].
Elles ont des oreilles, et elles n'entendent pas; Elles ont un nez, et elles ne sentent pas;
7 They have hands, but they cannot feel [anything]; they have feet, but they cannot walk, and they have throats but cannot [even] make any sounds!
Des mains, et elles ne touchent pas; Des pieds, et elles ne marchent pas. Leur gosier ne fait entendre aucun son.
8 The people who make those idols are [as powerless] as those idols, and those who trust in those idols [can accomplish nothing], just like their idols!
Ceux qui les fabriquent et tous ceux qui se confient en elles Leur deviendront semblables.
9 You, [my fellow] Israeli people, trust in Yahweh! He is the one who helps you and [protects you like] [MET] a shield.
Israël, confie-toi en l'Éternel! — Il est ton aide et ton bouclier. —
10 You priests [MTY], trust in Yahweh! He is the one who helps you and [protects you like] [MET] a shield.
Maison d'Aaron, confiez-vous en l'Éternel! — Il est ton aide et ton bouclier. —
11 [All] you who revere Yahweh, trust in him! He is the one who helps you and [protects you like] [MET] a shield.
Vous qui craignez l'Éternel, confiez-vous en l'Éternel! — Il est votre aide et votre bouclier. —
12 Yahweh has not forgotten us; he will bless us Israeli people [MTY]! He will bless the priests,
L'Éternel s'est souvenu de nous: il bénira, Oui, il bénira la maison d'Israël; Il bénira la maison d'Aaron.
13 and he will bless [all] those who revere him; he will bless important [people] and people [who are considered to be] unimportant, [everyone!]
Il bénira ceux qui craignent l'Éternel, Tant les petits que les grands.
14 I desire that Yahweh will give many children to you [my fellow-Israeli people], and to your descendants.
L'Éternel vous multipliera ses bénédictions. A vous et à vos enfants.
15 I desire that Yahweh, the one who made heaven and the earth, will bless [all of] you!
Vous êtes bénis de l'Éternel, Celui qui a fait les cieux et la terre.
16 The [highest] heavens belong to Yahweh, but he gave [everything that is on] the earth to [us] people.
Les cieux appartiennent à l'Éternel; Mais il a donné la terre aux enfants des hommes.
17 Dead [people] are not [able to] praise Yahweh; when they descend into the place where dead people are, they are unable to speak and cannot praise him.
Ce ne sont pas les morts qui loueront l'Éternel, Ni aucun de ceux qui descendent dans le lieu du silence.
18 But we [who are alive] will thank/praise him, now and forever. Praise Yahweh!
Mais nous, nous bénirons l'Éternel, Dès maintenant et à perpétuité. Louez l'Éternel!
