Psalms 115
1 Yahweh, people should praise [only] you [MTY]; they must praise you, not us, because you faithfully love us and always do what you have promised to do.
Non pas à nous, Seigneur, non pas à nous, mais à ton nom, donnez-en la gloire,
2 It is not right that [RHQ] [other] people-groups should say about us, “[They claim that] their God [is very powerful], but [if that is true], why does he not [help them]?”
A cause de ta miséricorde et de ta vérité; de peur que les Gentils ne viennent à dire: Où est leur Dieu?
3 Our God is in heaven, and he does whatever he wants to!
Notre Dieu est dans le ciel et sur la terre; tout ce qu'il a voulu, il l'a fait.
4 [But] their idols are only [statues made of] silver and gold, things that humans have made.
Les idoles des Gentils sont argent et or, œuvres de la main des hommes.
5 Their idols have mouths, but they cannot say [anything]; they have eyes, but they cannot see [anything].
Elles ont une bouche, et ne parleront pas; elles ont des yeux, et ne verront pas.
6 They have ears, but they cannot hear [anything]; they have noses, but they cannot smell [anything].
Elles ont des oreilles, et n'entendront pas; elles ont des narines, et ne sentiront pas.
7 They have hands, but they cannot feel [anything]; they have feet, but they cannot walk, and they have throats but cannot [even] make any sounds!
Elles ont des mains, et ne toucheront pas; elles ont des pieds, et ne marcheront pas, et nul cri ne sortira de leur gosier.
8 The people who make those idols are [as powerless] as those idols, and those who trust in those idols [can accomplish nothing], just like their idols!
Que ceux qui les font leur deviennent semblables, et tous ceux qui croient en elles.
9 You, [my fellow] Israeli people, trust in Yahweh! He is the one who helps you and [protects you like] [MET] a shield.
La maison d'Israël a espéré dans le Seigneur, il est son champion et son appui.
10 You priests [MTY], trust in Yahweh! He is the one who helps you and [protects you like] [MET] a shield.
La maison d'Aaron a espéré dans le Seigneur, il est son champion et son appui.
11 [All] you who revere Yahweh, trust in him! He is the one who helps you and [protects you like] [MET] a shield.
Ceux qui craignent le Seigneur ont espéré dans le Seigneur; il est leur champion et leur appui.
12 Yahweh has not forgotten us; he will bless us Israeli people [MTY]! He will bless the priests,
Le Seigneur s'est souvenu de nous, et nous a bénis; il a béni la maison d'Israël, il a béni la maison d'Aaron.
13 and he will bless [all] those who revere him; he will bless important [people] and people [who are considered to be] unimportant, [everyone!]
Il a béni ceux qui craignent le Seigneur, les petits aussi bien que les grands.
14 I desire that Yahweh will give many children to you [my fellow-Israeli people], and to your descendants.
Que le Seigneur fasse plus encore pour vous, pour vous et pour vos enfants.
15 I desire that Yahweh, the one who made heaven and the earth, will bless [all of] you!
Soyez bénis du Seigneur, qui a fait le ciel et la terre.
16 The [highest] heavens belong to Yahweh, but he gave [everything that is on] the earth to [us] people.
Le ciel des cieux est au Seigneur; mais la terre il l'a donnée aux fils des hommes.
17 Dead [people] are not [able to] praise Yahweh; when they descend into the place where dead people are, they are unable to speak and cannot praise him.
Les morts, Seigneur, ne te loueront point ni tous ceux qui descendent en enfer. (questioned)
18 But we [who are alive] will thank/praise him, now and forever. Praise Yahweh!
Mais nous qui vivons, nous bénirons le Seigneur, maintenant, et dans tous les siècles.
