Psalms 110

1 Yahweh said to my lord [the king], “Sit [here], close to me, in the place of highest honor [MTY] until I [completely defeat] your enemies [MET] [and] make [them like] a stool for your feet!”

Guð sagði við minn Drottin – við Krist: „Þú skalt ráða og ríkja mér við hlið. Ég mun sigra óvini þína og láta þá þjóna þér.“

2 Yahweh [also said to him], “I will extend your power as king from Jerusalem [to other lands]; you will rule over all your enemies.

Guð hefur reist þér hásæti í Jerúsalem og þaðan muntu drottna yfir óvinum þínum.

3 On the day that you lead your armies into battle, many of your people will volunteer [to join your army]. Like the dew refreshes the earth early in the morning, young men will [encourage you by] coming to help you.”

Þegar konungsvald þitt verður lýðum ljóst, mun þjóð þín flýta sér á þinn fund og æskufólk þitt íklæðast helgum skrúða. Eins og döggin er ný á hverjum morgni, eins mun styrkur minn endurnýjast dag eftir dag.

4 Yahweh has made a solemn promise, and he will never change his mind; he has said to the king, “You will be a priest forever [serving Yahweh] like Melchizedek did.”

Guð hefur unnið mér eið – og hann iðrast þess ekki – að þú ert prestur að eilífu að hætti Melkísedeks.

5 Yahweh stands [in the place of highest honor] your right side; when he becomes angry, he will defeat [many kings].

Guð er þér til hægri handar til að vernda þig. Þegar reiðidómur hans verður birtur mun hann fella marga konunga til jarðar.

6 He will judge and punish the people of [many] nations; he will fill the land with their corpses. He will crush the heads of other kings all over the earth.

Hann mun refsa þjóðunum, lík þeirra munu liggja út um allt. Hann mun mölva höfuð þeirra.

7 But my lord the king will drink from streams near the road; he will be refreshed after defeating his enemies.

Á leiðinni drekkur hann úr lindinni við veginn og ber höfuðið hátt.
