Proverbs 4
1 My children, listen to what I am teaching you. If you pay attention, you will understand what is wise.
பிள்ளைகளே, தகப்பனின் அறிவுரைகளைக் கேளுங்கள்; கவனமாயிருந்து புரிந்துகொள்ளுதலைப் பெற்றுக்கொள்ளுங்கள்.
2 What I am teaching you is good, so do not turn away from it.
நான் உங்களுக்கு நல்ல ஆலோசனையைத் தருகிறேன், எனவே நீங்கள் எனது போதனைகளைக் கைவிடாதிருங்கள்.
3 When I was a young boy, loved by my mother,
நான் எனது தகப்பனுக்குச் செல்ல மகனாய், என் தாய்க்கு அருமையான ஒரே பிள்ளையாய் வளர்ந்து வந்தேன்.
4 my father told me, “Remember my words; if you obey my commandments, you will live [a long time].
அப்பொழுது என் தகப்பன் எனக்குப் போதித்துச் சொன்னதாவது: “நான் சொல்லும் வார்த்தைகளை உன் இருதயத்தில் வைத்துக்கொள்; நீ என் கட்டளைகளைக் கைக்கொள், அப்பொழுது நீ வாழ்வாய்.
5 Obtain wisdom and understanding, and (do not abandon/hold fast to) [LIT] what I have taught you.
ஞானத்தையும் புரிந்துகொள்ளுதலையும் பெற்றுக்கொள்; எனது வார்த்தைகளை மறக்காமலும் அவற்றைவிட்டு விலகாமலும் இரு.
6 Do not turn away from wisdom, because if you are wise, you will be protected [from all evil/danger]. If you love wisdom, wisdom [PRS] will guard you.
நீ ஞானத்தை விட்டுவிடாதே, அது உன்னைப் பாதுகாக்கும்; அதை நேசி, அது உன்னை காத்துக்கொள்ளும்.
7 The most important thing that you can do is to get wisdom. Even if you obtain many other things, the best thing is to know what things are wise.
ஞானத்தைப் பெற்றுக்கொள்வதே ஞானத்தின் ஆரம்பம்; உன்னிடம் உள்ளதையெல்லாம் செலவழிக்க வேண்டியதானாலும் புரிந்துகொள்ளுதலைப் பெற்றுக்கொள்.
8 If you consider being wise to be very valuable, [people] will think very highly of you. If you cling to wisdom [like you would cling to a woman you love], [many people] will honor you.
நீ அதை மதித்து நட, அது உன்னை மேன்மைப்படுத்தும்; நீ அதை அணைத்துக்கொள், அப்பொழுது அது உன்னைக் கனப்படுத்தும்.
9 If you become wise, that will for you be [like] a beautiful wreath that is put {someone puts} on your head; it will be [like] a king’s glorious crown.” [That is what my father told me].
அது உன் தலையில் அழகான மலர் முடியைச் சூட்டும், அது உனக்கு சிறப்புமிக்க மகுடத்தைக் கொடுக்கும்.”
10 [So now I say], “My son, heed what I say. If you do that, you will live a [good] long life.
என் மகனே, கேள், நான் சொல்வதை ஏற்றுக்கொள்; அப்பொழுது உன் வாழ்நாட்கள் நீடித்திருக்கும்.
11 I am teaching you the way to live wisely; I am showing you how to act justly [toward others].
நான் ஞானத்தின் வழியை உனக்குக் காட்டி, நேரான பாதையில் உன்னை வழிநடத்துகிறேன்.
12 If you live wisely, when you decide to do something, you will succeed [LIT].
நீ நடக்கும்போது, உன் கால்கள் தடுமாறாது; நீ ஓடும்போது இடறி விழமாட்டாய்.
13 Hold fast to the things I have taught you to do, and do not let them go. Guard them, because they [will be the source of a good] life.
அறிவுரைகளைப் பற்றிக்கொள், அவற்றை விட்டுவிடாதே; அதை நன்றாகக் காத்துக்கொள், அதுவே உன் வாழ்வு.
14 Do not do the things that wicked people do; [do not behave like they do]; do not even walk on the roads that evil [people] walk on [MET].
கொடியவர்களின் பாதையில் அடியெடுத்து வைக்காதே; தீய மனிதர்களின் வழியில் நீ நடக்காதே.
15 Stay away from those roads; turn aside and walk on other roads;
அதைத் தவிர்த்துவிடு, அதில் பயணம் செய்யாதே; அதைவிட்டுத் திரும்பி உன் வழியே செல்.
16 because evil people cannot sleep if they have not done some evil deed [on that day]. They cannot rest if they have not harmed someone.
ஏனெனில் தீமைசெய்யும்வரை அவர்கள் உறங்கமாட்டார்கள்; யாரையாவது விழப்பண்ணும்வரை அவர்கள் நித்திரை செய்யமாட்டார்கள்.
17 What they eat and what they drink are things that they have obtained by acting wickedly and violently.”
அவர்கள் கொடுமையின் உணவைச் சாப்பிட்டு, வன்முறையின் மதுவைக் குடிக்கிறார்கள்.
18 The behavior of good/righteous [people] is like the light [that begins to shine] at dawn and then [continues to] shine brighter until the brightest time of day.
நீதிமான்களின் பாதை நடுப்பகல் வரைக்கும் மேன்மேலும் பிரகாசிக்கிற சூரியப் பிரகாசத்தைப் போன்றது.
19 [But] the behavior of wicked [people] is like deep/thick darkness. [Because it is very dark], they cannot see the things that cause them to stumble.
ஆனால் கொடியவர்களின் வழியோ காரிருளைப் போன்றது; அவர்கள் தங்களை இடறப்பண்ணுவது எது என்பதை அறியார்கள்.
20 My son, pay attention to what I am saying. Listen to my words carefully.
என் மகனே, நான் சொல்வதைக் கவனி; நான் சொல்லும் வார்த்தைகளுக்குச் செவிகொடு.
21 Keep them close to you; let them penetrate your inner being,
அவற்றை உன் பார்வையிலிருந்து விலகவிடாதே, அவற்றை உன் இருதயத்திற்குள் வைத்துக்கொள்;
22 because you will have [PRS] [a good] life and [good] health if you [search for them and] find them.
அவற்றைக் கண்டுபிடிப்பவர்களுக்கு அவை வாழ்வாக இருக்கும்; அவை மனிதரின் முழு உடலுக்கும் நலனளிக்கும்.
23 It is very important that you be careful about what you think, because what you think controls [MET] the things that you do.
எல்லாவற்றிற்கும் மேலாக, உன் இருதயத்தைக் காத்துக்கொள், அதிலிருந்து நீ செய்யும் எல்லாமே உனது வாழ்வின் ஊற்றாகப் புறப்பட்டு வரும்.
24 Do not say anything that deceives [others] and never say what is not true.
வஞ்சகத்தை உன் வாயிலிருந்து அகற்று, சீர்கேடான பேச்சுக்களை உன் உதடுகளிலிருந்து தூரமாய் விலக்கு.
25 Keep looking straight ahead toward the events that are before you, and do not turn aside.
உன் கண்கள் நேராய் பார்க்கட்டும்; உனக்கு முன்பாக இருப்பதில் உன் பார்வையை செலுத்து.
26 Plan carefully where you will go and what you will do, and then stay on that road. Then what you do will be right.
உன் பாதங்களுக்கு ஒழுங்கான பாதைகளை அமைத்துக்கொள்; அப்பொழுது உன் வழிகளெல்லாம் உறுதியாயிருக்கும்.
27 Do not leave the straight road by turning to the left or to the right. [Do only what is right] and keep yourself from [doing what is] evil.
நீ இடது பக்கமோ, வலதுபக்கமோ விலகாதே; உன் கால்களைத் தீமையிலிருந்து விலக்கிக்கொள்.
