Proverbs 4
1 My children, listen to what I am teaching you. If you pay attention, you will understand what is wise.
മക്കളേ, അപ്പന്റെ പ്രബോധനം കേട്ടു വിവേകം പ്രാപിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു ശ്രദ്ധിപ്പിൻ.
2 What I am teaching you is good, so do not turn away from it.
ഞാൻ നിങ്ങൾക്കു സൽബുദ്ധി ഉപദേശിച്ചുതരുന്നു; എന്റെ ഉപദേശം നിങ്ങൾ ഉപേക്ഷിക്കരുതു.
3 When I was a young boy, loved by my mother,
ഞാൻ എന്റെ അപ്പന്നു മകനും എന്റെ അമ്മെക്കു ഓമനയും ഏകപുത്രനും ആയിരുന്നു;
4 my father told me, “Remember my words; if you obey my commandments, you will live [a long time].
അവൻ എന്നെ പഠിപ്പിച്ചു, എന്നോടു പറഞ്ഞതു: എന്റെ വചനങ്ങളെ ഹൃദയത്തിൽ സംഗ്രഹിച്ചുകൊൾക; എന്റെ കല്പനകളെ പ്രമാണിച്ചു ജീവിക്ക.
5 Obtain wisdom and understanding, and (do not abandon/hold fast to) [LIT] what I have taught you.
ജ്ഞാനം സമ്പാദിക്ക: വിവേകം നേടുക; മറക്കരുതു; എന്റെ വചനങ്ങളെ വിട്ടുമാറുകയുമരുതു.
6 Do not turn away from wisdom, because if you are wise, you will be protected [from all evil/danger]. If you love wisdom, wisdom [PRS] will guard you.
അതിനെ ഉപേക്ഷിക്കരുതു; അതു നിന്നെ കാക്കും; അതിൽ പ്രിയം വെക്കുക; അതു നിന്നെ സൂക്ഷിക്കും;
7 The most important thing that you can do is to get wisdom. Even if you obtain many other things, the best thing is to know what things are wise.
ജ്ഞാനംതന്നേ പ്രധാനം; ജ്ഞാനം സമ്പാദിക്ക; നിന്റെ സകലസമ്പാദ്യത്താലും വിവേകം നേടുക.
8 If you consider being wise to be very valuable, [people] will think very highly of you. If you cling to wisdom [like you would cling to a woman you love], [many people] will honor you.
അതിനെ ഉയർത്തുക; അതു നിന്നെ ഉയർത്തും; അതിനെ ആലിംഗനം ചെയ്താൽ അതു നിനക്കു മാനം വരുത്തും.
9 If you become wise, that will for you be [like] a beautiful wreath that is put {someone puts} on your head; it will be [like] a king’s glorious crown.” [That is what my father told me].
അതു നിന്റെ തലയെ അലങ്കാരമാല അണിയിക്കും; അതു നിന്നെ ഒരു മഹത്വകിരീടം ചൂടിക്കും.
10 [So now I say], “My son, heed what I say. If you do that, you will live a [good] long life.
മകനേ കേട്ടു എന്റെ വചനങ്ങളെ കൈക്കൊൾക; എന്നാൽ നിനക്കു ദീർഘായുസ്സുണ്ടാകും.
11 I am teaching you the way to live wisely; I am showing you how to act justly [toward others].
ജ്ഞാനത്തിന്റെ മാർഗ്ഗം ഞാൻ നിന്നെ ഉപദേശിക്കുന്നു; നേരെയുള്ള പാതയിൽ ഞാൻ നിന്നെ നടത്തുന്നു.
12 If you live wisely, when you decide to do something, you will succeed [LIT].
നടക്കുമ്പോൾ നിന്റെ കാലടിക്കു ഇടുക്കം വരികയില്ല; ഓടുമ്പോൾ നീ ഇടറുകയുമില്ല.
13 Hold fast to the things I have taught you to do, and do not let them go. Guard them, because they [will be the source of a good] life.
പ്രബോധനം മുറുകെ പിടിക്ക; വിട്ടുകളയരുതു; അതിനെ കാത്തുകൊൾക, അതു നിന്റെ ജീവനല്ലോ.
14 Do not do the things that wicked people do; [do not behave like they do]; do not even walk on the roads that evil [people] walk on [MET].
ദുഷ്ടന്മാരുടെ പാതയിൽ നീ ചെല്ലരുതു; ദുർജ്ജനത്തിന്റെ വഴിയിൽ നടക്കയുമരുതു;
15 Stay away from those roads; turn aside and walk on other roads;
അതിനോടു അകന്നുനില്ക്ക; അതിൽ നടക്കരുതു; അതു വിട്ടുമാറി കടന്നുപോക.
16 because evil people cannot sleep if they have not done some evil deed [on that day]. They cannot rest if they have not harmed someone.
അവർ ദോഷം ചെയ്തിട്ടല്ലാതെ ഉറങ്ങുകയില്ല; വല്ലവരെയും വീഴിച്ചിട്ടല്ലാതെ അവർക്കു ഉറക്കം വരികയില്ല.
17 What they eat and what they drink are things that they have obtained by acting wickedly and violently.”
ദുഷ്ടതയുടെ ആഹാരംകൊണ്ടു അവർ ഉപജീവിക്കുന്നു; ബലാല്ക്കാരത്തിന്റെ വീഞ്ഞു അവർ പാനം ചെയ്യുന്നു.
18 The behavior of good/righteous [people] is like the light [that begins to shine] at dawn and then [continues to] shine brighter until the brightest time of day.
നീതിമാന്മാരുടെ പാതയോ പ്രഭാതത്തിന്റെ വെളിച്ചംപോലെ; അതു നട്ടുച്ചവരെ അധികമധികം ശോഭിച്ചു വരുന്നു.
19 [But] the behavior of wicked [people] is like deep/thick darkness. [Because it is very dark], they cannot see the things that cause them to stumble.
ദുഷ്ടന്മാരുടെവഴി അന്ധകാരംപോലെയാകുന്നു; ഏതിങ്കൽ തട്ടി വീഴും എന്നു അവർ അറിയുന്നില്ല.
20 My son, pay attention to what I am saying. Listen to my words carefully.
മകനേ, എന്റെ വചനങ്ങൾക്കു ശ്രദ്ധതരിക; എന്റെ മൊഴികൾക്കു നിന്റെ ചെവി ചായിക്ക.
21 Keep them close to you; let them penetrate your inner being,
അവ നിന്റെ ദൃഷ്ടിയിൽനിന്നു മാറിപ്പോകരുതു; നിന്റെ ഹൃദയത്തിന്റെ നടുവിൽ അവയെ സൂക്ഷിച്ചുവെക്കുക.
22 because you will have [PRS] [a good] life and [good] health if you [search for them and] find them.
അവയെ കിട്ടുന്നവർക്കു അവ ജീവനും അവരുടെ സർവ്വദേഹത്തിന്നും സൗഖ്യവും ആകുന്നു.
23 It is very important that you be careful about what you think, because what you think controls [MET] the things that you do.
സകലജാഗ്രതയോടുംകൂടെ നിന്റെ ഹൃദയത്തെ കാത്തുകൊൾക; ജീവന്റെ ഉത്ഭവം അതിൽനിന്നല്ലോ ആകുന്നതു.
24 Do not say anything that deceives [others] and never say what is not true.
വായുടെ വക്രത നിങ്കൽനിന്നു നീക്കിക്കളക; അധരങ്ങളുടെ വികടം നിങ്കൽനിന്നകറ്റുക.
25 Keep looking straight ahead toward the events that are before you, and do not turn aside.
നിന്റെ കണ്ണു നേരെ നോക്കട്ടെ; നിന്റെ കണ്ണിമ ചൊവ്വെ മുമ്പോട്ടു മിഴിക്കട്ടെ.
26 Plan carefully where you will go and what you will do, and then stay on that road. Then what you do will be right.
നിന്റെ കാലുകളുടെ പാതയെ നിരപ്പാക്കുക; നിന്റെ വഴികളെല്ലാം സ്ഥിരമായിരിക്കട്ടെ.
27 Do not leave the straight road by turning to the left or to the right. [Do only what is right] and keep yourself from [doing what is] evil.
ഇടത്തോട്ടോ വലത്തോട്ടോ തിരിയരുതു; നിന്റെ കാലിനെ ദോഷം വിട്ടകലുമാറാക്കുക.
