Proverbs 3
1 My son, do not forget what I have taught you. Keep my commands in your inner being,
੧ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਪੁੱਤਰ, ਤੂੰ ਮੇਰੀ ਸਿੱਖਿਆ ਨੂੰ ਨਾ ਭੁੱਲ, ਸਗੋਂ ਆਪਣਾ ਮਨ ਲਗਾ ਕੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਹੁਕਮਾਂ ਦੀ ਪਾਲਣਾ ਕਰ,
2 because [if you obey them] you will live a long time and things will go well for you
੨ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ ਅਜਿਹਾ ਕਰਨ ਨਾਲ ਤੇਰੀ ਉਮਰ ਅਤੇ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇ ਸਾਲਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਵਾਧਾ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ ਅਤੇ ਤੂੰ ਸ਼ਾਂਤੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਵੱਸੇਂਗਾ।
3 Always faithfully love others and (be faithful/do what you say that you will do); doing those things [will cause others to be pleased with you]; it will be as though you are wearing a beautiful necklace. Keep those things in your mind/inner being.
੩ਦਯਾ ਅਤੇ ਸਚਿਆਈ ਤੇਰੇ ਤੋਂ ਅਲੱਗ ਨਾ ਹੋਣ, ਸਗੋਂ ਤੂੰ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਗਲ਼ ਦਾ ਹਾਰ ਬਣਾ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਦਿਲ ਦੀ ਤਖ਼ਤੀ ਉੱਤੇ ਲਿਖ ਲੈ,
4 If you do, God and people will approve of you and think highly of you [MTY].
੪ਤਦ ਤੂੰ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਅਤੇ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਨਜ਼ਰਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਅਤੇ ਨੇਕਨਾਮੀ ਪਾਵੇਂਗਾ।
5 Trust in Yahweh completely, and do not rely on what you yourself understand.
੫ਆਪਣੇ ਪੂਰੇ ਦਿਲ ਨਾਲ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਉੱਤੇ ਭਰੋਸਾ ਰੱਖ ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਹੀ ਸਮਝ ਉੱਤੇ ਅਤਬਾਰ ਨਾ ਕਰ।
6 Always allow him to lead you. If you do that, he will (show you the right path/direct your life).
੬ਆਪਣੇ ਸਾਰਿਆਂ ਰਾਹਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਉਹ ਨੂੰ ਯਾਦ ਰੱਖ ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਤੇਰੇ ਮਾਰਗਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਿੱਧਾ ਕਰੇਗਾ।
7 Do not be proud of being wise. [Instead], revere Yahweh and turn away from doing evil.
੭ਤੂੰ ਆਪਣੀ ਨਿਗਾਹ ਵਿੱਚ ਬੁੱਧਵਾਨ ਨਾ ਹੋ, ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦਾ ਭੈਅ ਰੱਖ ਅਤੇ ਬੁਰਿਆਈ ਤੋਂ ਦੂਰ ਰਹਿ।
8 If you do that, your body will be healthy/strong; it will be [like] medicine for you.
੮ਇਸ ਤੋਂ ਤੇਰਾ ਸਰੀਰ ਨਿਰੋਗ ਅਤੇ ਤੇਰੀਆਂ ਹੱਡੀਆਂ ਪੁਸ਼ਟ ਰਹਿਣਗੀਆਂ।
9 Honor Yahweh by [what you do with] your money; and [by giving him] the first part of your harvest.
੯ਆਪਣੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਮਾਲ ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਸਾਰੀ ਪੈਦਾਵਾਰ ਦੇ ਪਹਿਲੇ ਫਲ ਨਾਲ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦੀ ਮਹਿਮਾ ਕਰ,
10 If you do that, [you will have a good harvest]. Yahweh will fill your barns [with grain], and your vats/containers will be overflowing with [grape juice for making] wine.
੧੦ਤਾਂ ਤੇਰੇ ਖੱਤੇ ਪੈਦਾਵਾਰ ਨਾਲ ਭਰੇ-ਪੂਰੇ ਰਹਿਣਗੇ ਅਤੇ ਤੇਰੇ ਦਾਖਾਂ ਦੇ ਹੌਦ ਨਵੇਂ ਰਸ ਨਾਲ ਛਲਕਣਗੇ।
11 My son, when Yahweh disciplines/corrects you, do not despise it, and if he rebukes you, do not resent it.
੧੧ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਪੁੱਤਰ, ਤੂੰ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦੀ ਤਾੜ ਨੂੰ ਤੁੱਛ ਨਾ ਜਾਣ ਅਤੇ ਜਦ ਉਹ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਝਿੜਕੇ ਤਾਂ ਤੂੰ ਬੁਰਾ ਨਾ ਮੰਨੀ,
12 [I say that] because it is the people whom Yahweh loves that he corrects/reproves, [just] like parents correct/reprove their sons whom they love.
੧੨ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਉਸੇ ਨੂੰ ਤਾੜਦਾ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਪਿਆਰ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਜਿਵੇਂ ਪਿਤਾ ਉਸ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਨੂੰ ਜਿਸ ਤੋਂ ਉਹ ਪ੍ਰਸੰਨ ਹੈ।
13 [Yahweh] is pleased with those who become wise and have good understanding.
੧੩ਧੰਨ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਬੁੱਧ ਲੱਭਦੀ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਪੁਰਸ਼ ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਸਮਝ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ,
14 Being wise and having good understanding is worth more than silver, better than gold.
੧੪ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ ਉਹ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤੀ ਚਾਂਦੀ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤੀ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਦਾ ਲਾਭ ਚੋਖੇ ਸੋਨੇ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਚੰਗਾ ਹੈ।
15 Being wise is more precious than (jewels/precious stones); there is nothing that you could desire [that would be as valuable] as wisdom.
੧੫ਉਹ ਤਾਂ ਹੀਰੇ-ਮੋਤੀਆਂ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਵੀ ਬੇਸ਼ਕੀਮਤੀ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਜਿੰਨ੍ਹੀਆਂ ਵਸਤਾਂ ਦੀ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਚਾਹਤ ਹੈ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਕੋਈ ਵੀ ਉਹ ਦੇ ਤੁੱਲ ਨਹੀਂ।
16 On the one hand, wisdom [PRS] enables [you] to live a long life, and on the other hand, wisdom enables [you] to become rich and to be honored.
੧੬ਲੰਮੀ ਉਮਰ ਉਹ ਦੇ ਸੱਜੇ ਹੱਥ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਖੱਬੇ ਹੱਥ ਵਿੱਚ ਧਨ ਅਤੇ ਆਦਰ ਹੈ।
17 If [you] are wise, [your] life will be pleasant, and things will go well [for you].
੧੭ਉਹ ਦੇ ਰਾਹ ਮਨਭਾਉਂਦੇ ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਮਾਰਗ ਸ਼ਾਂਤੀ ਦੇ ਹਨ।
18 Wisdom is [like] a tree that gives long life to those who [eagerly] take hold of it, and [Yahweh] is pleased with those who hold onto it tightly.
੧੮ਜਿਹੜੇ ਉਹ ਨੂੰ ਗ੍ਰਹਿਣ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਲਈ ਜੀਵਨ ਦਾ ਰੁੱਖ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਜੋ ਕੋਈ ਉਹ ਨੂੰ ਫੜ੍ਹੀ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਖੁਸ਼ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
19 By his wisdom Yahweh created the earth, and by his understanding he put everything in the skies.
੧੯ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਨੇ ਬੁੱਧ ਨਾਲ ਧਰਤੀ ਦੀ ਨੀਂਹ ਧਰੀ ਅਤੇ ਸਮਝ ਨਾਲ ਅਕਾਸ਼ ਨੂੰ ਕਾਇਮ ਕੀਤਾ।
20 By his knowledge [he caused] the water that was beneath the earth to burst forth, and he caused rain to fall from the clouds.
੨੦ਉਹ ਦੇ ਗਿਆਨ ਨਾਲ ਹੀ ਡੁੰਘਿਆਈਆਂ ਫੁੱਟ ਨਿੱਕਲੀਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਬੱਦਲਾਂ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਤ੍ਰੇਲ ਪੈਂਦੀ ਹੈ।
21 My son, [always] keep doing things that are right and things that are smart. If you do that,
੨੧ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਪੁੱਤਰ, ਬੁੱਧ ਅਤੇ ਵਿਵੇਕ ਨੂੰ ਸੰਭਾਲ ਕੇ ਰੱਖ, ਇਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੀਆਂ ਅੱਖੀਆਂ ਤੋਂ ਓਹਲੇ ਨਾ ਹੋਣ ਦੇ।
22 you will live [many years] and be honored and respected {people will honor and respect you}.
੨੨ਤਦ ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਜੀਵਨ ਮਿਲੇਗਾ ਅਤੇ ਤੇਰੇ ਗਲ਼ ਲਈ ਸ਼ਿੰਗਾਰ ਹੋਣਗੀਆਂ।
23 If you do what is right and wise, you will [be able to] walk safely, and you will not (stumble/do things that are wrong) [MET].
੨੩ਤਦ ਤੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਰਾਹ ਵਿੱਚ ਨਿਡਰ ਚੱਲੇਂਗਾ ਅਤੇ ਤੇਰਾ ਪੈਰ ਠੇਡਾ ਨਾ ਖਾਵੇਗਾ।
24 You will [be able to] lie down [at night] and not be afraid [of anything], and you will sleep peacefully.
੨੪ਜਿਸ ਵੇਲੇ ਤੂੰ ਲੰਮਾ ਪਵੇਂਗਾ ਤਾਂ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਡਰ ਨਾ ਲੱਗੇਗਾ, ਹਾਂ, ਤੂੰ ਲੰਮਾ ਪਵੇਂਗਾ ਅਤੇ ਤੇਰੀ ਨੀਂਦ ਮਿੱਠੀ ਹੋਵੇਗੀ।
25 You will not be afraid that something disastrous will happen to you or that storms that strike the wicked will strike you,
੨੫ਅਚਾਨਕ ਆਉਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਭੈਅ ਤੋਂ ਨਾ ਡਰੀਂ ਅਤੇ ਨਾ ਹੀ ਦੁਸ਼ਟਾਂ ਉੱਤੇ ਆਉਣ ਵਾਲੀ ਬਿਪਤਾ ਤੋਂ,
26 because you will be confident that Yahweh [will take care of you]. He will not let your foot be caught in a trap/snare.
੨੬ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਤੇਰੀ ਆਸ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਤੇਰੇ ਪੈਰ ਨੂੰ ਫਾਹੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਫਸਣ ਤੋਂ ਬਚਾਵੇਗਾ।
27 If you are able to help people who deserve it, do not refuse to help them.
੨੭ਜੇ ਤੇਰੇ ਵੱਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੋਵੇ, ਤਾਂ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਹੱਕ ਹੈ, ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਭਲਾ ਕਰਨ ਤੋਂ ਨਾ ਰੁਕੀਂ।
28 If you are able to help someone you interact with, do not say, “Come back later; [perhaps] I can help you tomorrow.”
੨੮ਜੇ ਤੇਰੇ ਕੋਲ ਹੋਵੇ ਤਾਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਗੁਆਂਢੀ ਨੂੰ ਇਹ ਨਾ ਆਖੀਂ, ਕਿ ਤੂੰ ਜਾ, ਫੇਰ ਆਵੀਂ, ਮੈਂ ਕੱਲ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਦਿਆਂਗਾ।
29 Do not make plans to harm those you interact with regularly, [because] they live near you, and they trust you.
੨੯ਜਦ ਤੇਰਾ ਗੁਆਂਢੀ ਨਿਸ਼ਚਿੰਤ ਤੇਰੇ ਕੋਲ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਦੀ ਹਾਨੀ ਦੀ ਜੁਗਤ ਨਾ ਕਰ।
30 If someone has not harmed you, do not accuse him [by saying that he has harmed you].
੩੦ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਤੇਰਾ ਕੋਈ ਵਿਗਾੜ ਨਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੋਵੇ, ਉਸ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਐਂਵੇਂ ਹੀ ਝਗੜਾ ਨਾ ਕਰ।
31 Do not envy people who [obtain things by] violent actions, and do not imitate/do what they do.
੩੧ਜ਼ਾਲਮ ਦੀ ਰੀਸ ਨਾ ਕਰ, ਨਾ ਉਹ ਦੀਆਂ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਕਿਸੇ ਉੱਤੇ ਨਾ ਚੱਲ,
32 [I say that] because Yahweh considers such people to be abominable/detestable; but he is a friend to [all] those who do what is right.
੩੨ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ ਟੇਡੇ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਨੂੰ ਘਿਣ ਆਉਂਦੀ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਸਚਿਆਰਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਉਹ ਦੀ ਦੋਸਤੀ ਹੈ।
33 Yahweh curses the families [MTY] of those who are wicked, but he blesses the families of those who are good/righteous.
੩੩ਦੁਸ਼ਟਾਂ ਦੇ ਘਰ ਉੱਤੇ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦਾ ਸਰਾਪ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਧਰਮੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਨਿਵਾਸ ਨੂੰ ਉਹ ਬਰਕਤ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
34 Yahweh makes fun of those who make fun [of others], but he kindly helps those who are humble.
੩੪ਸੱਚੀਂ ਮੁੱਚੀਂ ਠੱਠਾ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਿਆਂ ਉੱਤੇ ਉਹ ਠੱਠਾ ਮਾਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਹਲੀਮਾਂ ਉੱਤੇ ਉਹ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।
35 Wise [people] will be honored {people will honor wise people}, but foolish people will be dishonored/disgraced.
੩੫ਬੁੱਧਵਾਨ ਆਦਰ ਦੇ ਵਾਰਿਸ ਹੋਣਗੇ, ਪਰ ਮੂਰਖਾਂ ਦੀ ਤਰੱਕੀ ਸਿਰਫ਼ ਸ਼ਰਮ ਹੀ ਹੋਵੇਗੀ!
