< Proverbs 21 >
1 Yahweh controls what kings do [MTY] [like] he controls how streams flow; he causes kings to do just what he wants them to do.
राजाको हृदय परमप्रभुको हातमा भएको खोलाजस्तो हो । उहाँलाई खुसी लागेअनुसार उहाँले त्यसलाई फर्काउनुहुन्छ ।
2 People always think that what they do is right, but Yahweh judges our (motives/reasons [for doing things)] [MTY].
हरेक मानिसको बाटो त्यसको आफ्नै दृष्टिमा ठिक छ, तर परमप्रभुले नै हृदयको जाँच गर्नुहुन्छ ।
3 Doing what is right and fair is more acceptable to Yahweh than [bringing] sacrifices [to him].
बलिदानभन्दा जे ठिक र न्यायसङ्गत छ, त्यही गर्नु परमप्रभुको लागि बढी ग्रहणयोग्य हुन्छ ।
4 Being proud and arrogant [DOU] is [like] a lamp [MTY] [that guides] wicked people; being proud and arrogant characterizes (wicked people’s whole behavior/everything that wicked people do).
अहङ्कारी आँखा, घमण्डी हृदय र दुष्टको बत्ती पाप हुन् ।
5 People who plan carefully will surely have plenty [of what they need]; those who act too quickly [to become rich] will become poor.
परिश्रमीका योजनाहरूले केवल उन्नतितिर लैजान्छन्, तर हतार काम गर्नेचाहिँ केवल दरिद्रतामा पुग्छ ।
6 Money that people acquire [by cheating others] by lying [MTY] to them will soon disappear [like] a mist, and doing that will [soon] lead to their death.
झुट बोलेर सम्पत्ति आर्जन गर्नु उडिजाने बाफ र मार्ने पासोजस्तै हो ।
7 Wicked [people] refuse to do what is right/just, but they will be ruined because of the violent things [PRS] that they do.
दुष्टहरूको हिंसाले तिनीहरूलाई तानेर लैजान्छ, किनकि ठिक काम गर्न तिनीहरू इन्कार गर्छन् ।
8 Guilty [people continually do what is evil; it is as though] [MET] they are walking on a crooked road; but righteous/innocent people [always] do what is right.
दोषी मानिसको बाटो टेडो हुन्छ, तर निर्दोषले ठिक काम गर्छ ।
9 It is better to live in the corner of an attic/housetop [by yourself] than to live inside the house with a wife who is always nagging.
झगडालु पत्नीसित एउटै घरमा बस्नुभन्दा कौसीको कुनामा बस्नु बेस हुन्छ ।
10 Wicked [people] [SYN] are always wanting [to do what is] evil; they never act mercifully toward anyone.
दुष्टको भोकले खराबीको लालसा गर्छ । त्यसको छिमेकीले त्यसको आँखामा निगाह देख्दैन ।
11 When those who ridicule [others] are punished, [even] those who do not have good sense [see that, and] they become wise, and when those who are wise are taught, they become wiser.
खिल्ली गर्नेलाई दण्ड दिइँदा निर्बुद्धि बुद्धिमान् बन्छ, र बुद्धिमान् मानिसलाई अर्ती दिइँदा त्यसले ज्ञानलाई पक्रिराख्छ ।
12 [God], the one [who is completely] righteous, knows [what happens inside] the houses of wicked [people], and [he will cause] those people to be completely ruined/destroyed.
धर्मात्माले दुष्ट मानिसको घरको निगरानी गर्छ । उहाँले दुष्ट मानिसहरूमाथि विपत्ति ल्याउनुहुन्छ ।
13 There are people who refuse to listen when poor people cry out [for help]; [but some day] they themselves will cry out [for help], and no one will hear them.
गरिबको पुकारामा कान थुन्नेले पुकारा गर्दा त्यसलाई जवाफ दिइने छैन ।
14 When someone is angry [with you], if you secretly give him a gift, he will stop being angry.
गुप्तमा दिइएको उपहारले रिस मारिदिन्छ, र लुकाएर दिइएको उपहारले बल्दो क्रोधलाई शान्त पारिदिन्छ ।
15 Good/Righteous [people] are happy when they [see others do] what is just/fair, but those who do what is evil are terrified [when they think about what may happen to them].
न्याय कायम हुँदा यसले धर्मात्मामा आनन्द ल्याउँछ भने खराबी गर्नेहरूमा त्रास ल्याउँछ ।
16 Those who stop behaving like those who have good sense behave will [soon] discover that they have gone to the place where dead people are.
समझशक्तिको मार्गबाट तर्कने मानिसले मरेकाहरूको सभामा विश्राम पाउने छ ।
17 Those who spend their money to buy (things that give them pleasure/things that cause them to feel happy) will become poor; those who love [to spend money to buy] wine and nice/fancy food [MTY] will never become rich.
मोजमज्जालाई प्रेम गर्ने गरिब हुनेछ । दाखमद्य र तेललाई प्रेम गर्ने धनी हुने छैन ।
18 Wicked [people] bring on themselves the sufferings that they were trying to cause righteous [people] to experience [DOU].
दुष्ट मानिस धर्मी मानिसको लागि प्रायश्चित्त हुन्छ, र विश्वासघाती मानिस सोझो मानिसको लागि प्रायश्चित्त हुन्छ ।
19 It is better to live [alone] in a desert than [to live] with a wife who is [always] nagging and complaining.
झगडालु र रिसालु पत्नीसित बस्नुभन्दा उजाड्-स्थानमा बस्नु बेस हुन्छ ।
20 Wise people have many valuable things in their houses, but foolish people [quickly] spend/waste [all their money].
इच्छा गरिएको खजाना र तेल बुद्धिमान्को बासस्थानमा हुन्छन्, तर मूर्खले यी सबै निलिदिन्छन् ।
21 Those who [always] try to act in a fair and kind way [toward others] will live [a long time] and be honored/respected.
असल काम गर्ने र दयालु मानिसले जीवन, धार्मिकता र इज्जत पाउँछ ।
22 A wise army commander [helps his troops] climb over a wall [to attack] a city that is defended by a strong army, with the result that they are able to (get over/destroy) the high walls that their enemies trusted [would protect them].
बुद्धिमान् मानिसले शक्तिशाली योद्धाहरूको सहरको लेखाजोखा गर्छ, र तिनीहरूले भरोसा गरेको किल्लालाई भत्काइदिन्छ ।
23 Those who are very careful about what they say [MTY] are [able to] avoid trouble.
आफ्नो मुख र जिब्रोको रखवाली गर्नेले आफैलाई कष्टबाट बचाउँछ ।
24 Those who make fun of [everything that is good] are proud and conceited [DOU]; they [always] act in an inconsiderate way [toward others].
घमण्डी र हठी मानिसको नाउँ “खिल्ली उडाउने” हो र त्यसले अभिमानीसाथ व्यवहार गर्छ ।
25 Lazy people, who refuse to work, [will] die [of hunger] because they [SYN] do not earn [money to buy food].
अल्छेको इच्छाले त्यसलाई मार्छ, किनकि त्यसको हातले काम गर्न इन्कार गर्छ ।
26 All during the day [wicked people] desire to obtain things, but righteous [people] have plenty, [with the result that] they [are able to] give things generously to others.
दिनभरि त्यसले केवल लालसा गर्छ, तर धर्मात्माले मुट्ठी खोलेर दिन्छ ।
27 [Yahweh] detests the sacrifices that wicked [people] offer [to him]; [but he] detests it even more when they [think that they will escape being punished for] their evil deeds because of the sacrifices that they bring.
दुष्टको बलिदान घृणित हुन्छ । त्यसले खराब अभिप्राय लिएर ल्याउँदा यो झनै घृणित हुन्छ ।
28 Those who tell lies in court will be punished; no one stops/silences witnesses who say what is truthful/reliable.
झुटो साक्षी नष्ट हुने छ, तर ध्यान दिएर सुन्नेले बोलिरहने छ ।
29 Wicked people pretend [that they know everything], but righteous people think carefully about [what will happen because of] what they do.
दुष्ट मानिस हठी हुन्छ, तर सोझो मानिस आफ्ना मार्गहरूबारे निश्चित हुन्छ ।
30 [Thinking that we are] wise, and that we understand many things, and that we have good insight, does not help us if Yahweh is (acting against/not pleased with) us.
यस्तो कुनै बुद्धि, समझशक्ति र सरसल्लाह छैन जुन परमप्रभुको विरुद्धमा खडा हुन सक्छ ।
31 We [can] get horses ready to fight in a battle, but Yahweh is the one who enables us to (win victories/defeat our enemies).
घोडा युद्धको लागि तयार पारिन्छ, तर विजयचाहिँ परमप्रभुकै हो ।
