Numbers 3
1 These are some of the things that happened to Aaron and Moses/me when Yahweh spoke to Moses/me on Sinai Mountain.
He aquí los descendientes de Aarón y de Moisés, el día en que Yahvé habló con Moisés en el monte Sinaí.
2 Aaron’s four sons were Nadab the oldest, Abihu, Eleazar, and Ithamar.
Y he aquí los nombres de los hijos de Aarón: Nadab, el primogénito; Abiú, Eleazar e Itamar.
3 They were appointed [MTY] (OR, Moses/I appointed them) to be priests.
Estos son los nombres de los hijos de Aarón, los sacerdotes ungidos y consagrados para el sacerdocio.
4 But, while Yahweh was watching, Nadab and Abihu died in the Sinai Desert because they burned [incense] in a manner that was different from what Yahweh had commanded. They had no sons, so Eleazar and Ithamar were the [only] sons of Aaron who [were left to be] priests, along with their father Aaron.
Nadab y Abiú murieron delante de Yahvé cuando en el desierto del Sinaí llevaron a la presencia de Yahvé un fuego extraño, y no tuvieron hijos. Eleazar e Itamar ejercieron el oficio de sacerdotes a las órdenes de su padre Aarón.
5 Then Yahweh said to Moses/me,
Yahvé habló a Moisés, diciendo:
6 “Bring [the men of] the tribe of Levi and present them to Aaron, in order that they may assist him.
“Manda que se acerque la tribu de Leví, y preséntala delante del sacerdote Aarón para que le sirvan.
7 They will serve Aaron and all the other Israeli people, while they do their work inside the Sacred Tent and outside it.
Ellos se encargarán de las obligaciones de Aarón y de toda la Congregación respecto del Tabernáculo de la Reunión, ejerciendo el servicio de la Morada.
8 They must serve all the Israeli people by taking care of all the things that are inside the Sacred Tent.
Guardarán todos los utensilios del Tabernáculo de la Reunión, y se encargarán de los trabajos de los hijos de Israel en el servicio de la Morada.
9 Appoint them to [help] Aaron and his two sons. I have chosen them from all the Israeli people to do that.
Darás, pues, los levitas a Aarón y a sus hijos; a él le serán enteramente entregados por parte de los hijos de Israel.
10 Appoint Aaron and his two sons to do the work that priests do. But anyone else who comes close to the Sacred Tent [to do that work] must be executed.”
Encargarás a Aarón y a sus hijos que se ocupen (exclusivamente) de su sacerdocio; el extraño que se acercare morirá.”
11 Yahweh also told Moses/me,
Habló Yahvé a Moisés, diciendo:
12 “Note that from all the Israelis, I have chosen the men of the tribe of Levi to take the places of all the firstborn sons of the Israeli people. The male descendants of Levi belong to me,
“He aquí que Yo he tomado a los levitas de en medio de los hijos de Israel, en lugar de todos los primogénitos que abren el seno de su madre. Los levitas son míos.
13 because truly all the firstborn [males] belong to me. That is because on the day that I killed all the firstborn [sons] of the people of Egypt, I [spared] all the firstborn [sons] of the Israelis and set them apart for myself. I also set apart the firstborn [males] of your domestic animals. They belong to me, Yahweh.”
Porque todos los primogénitos son míos; el día en que Yo herí a todo primogénito en la tierra de Egipto, santifiqué para Mí todos los primogénitos de Israel, tanto de hombres como de animales, míos son. Yo, Yahvé.”
14 Yahweh spoke to Moses/me again in the Sinai Desert. He said,
Yahvé habló a Moisés en el desierto del Sinaí, diciendo:
15 “Count the male members of the tribe of Levi. Write down their names and the names of their clans and family groups. Count all the males who are at least one month old.”
“Haz el censo de los hijos de Leví según sus casas paternas y según sus familias, contando a todos los varones de un mes para arriba.”
16 So Moses/I counted them, just as Yahweh commanded.
Moisés los contó según la orden de Yahvé, tal como le fue mandado.
17 Levi had [three] sons, whose names were Gershon, Kohath, and Merari.
He aquí los hijos de Leví por sus nombres: Gersón, Caat y Merarí.
18 Gershon had [two] sons: Libni and Shimei. The clans that were descended from them had the same names as those [two] sons.
Estos son los nombres de los hijos de Gersón, según sus familias: Libní y Simeí.
19 Kohath had [four] sons: Amram, Izhar, Hebron, and Uzziel. The clans that were descended from them had the same names as those [four] sons.
Los hijos de Caat, según sus familias: Amram, Isar, Hebrón y Usiel.
20 Merari had [two] sons: Mahli and Mushi. The clans that were descended from them had the same names as those [two] sons. Those are the clans that were descended from Levi.
Los hijos de Merarí, según sus familias: Mahalí y Musí. Estas son las familias de los levitas, según sus casas paternas:
21 The two clans descended from Gershon are those that were descended from [his sons] Libni and Shimei.
De Gersón descienden la familia de los libnitas y la de los simeítas. Estas son las familias de los gersonitas.
22 In those two clans there were 7,500 males who were at least one month old.
Sus empadronados, contando a todos los varones, de un mes para arriba, fueron, según el censo, siete mil quinientos.
23 They were told to set up their tents on the west side of the Sacred Tent.
Las familias de los gersonitas acampaban detrás de la Morada, al poniente.
24 The leader of those two clans was Eliasaph, the son of Lael.
El príncipe de la casa paterna de los gersonitas era Eliasaf, hijo de Lael.
25 Their work was to take care of the Sacred Tent, including the coverings of the tent, the curtain at the entrance of the tent,
Los hijos de Gersón tenían a su cargo en el Tabernáculo de la Reunión el cuidado de la Morada y del Tabernáculo, su cubierta, la cortina de la entrada del Tabernáculo de la Reunión,
26 the (curtains/large pieces of cloth) that formed the walls around the courtyard that is around the tent and around the altar, the curtains that were at the entrance of the courtyard, and the ropes [for fastening the tent]. They also did all the work of taking care of the things outside the Sacred Tent.
las cortinas del atrio, la cortina de la entrada del atrio que rodea la Morada y el altar, y las cuerdas para todo su servicio.
27 The clans that were descended from Kohath were those descended from his four sons: Amram, Izhar, Hebron, and Uzziel.
De Caat descienden la familia de los amramitas, la familia de los isaritas, la familia de los hebronitas, y la familia de los usielitas. Estas son las familias de los caatitas.
28 In those four clans there were 8,600 males who were at least one month old. The work of the men of the clans was to take care of [the things that are inside] the Sacred Tent.
El número de todos sus varones, de un mes para arriba, fue de ocho mil seiscientos, encargados del servicio del Santuario.
29 They set up their tents on the south side of the Sacred Tent.
Las familias de los hijos de Caat acampaban al costado de la Morada, en el flanco meridional.
30 The leader of those four clans was Elizaphan, the son of Uzziel.
El príncipe de la casa paterna de las familias de los caatitas era Elisafán, hijo de Usiel.
31 The work of the men of those clans was to take care of the sacred chest, the table [on which the priest put the sacred bread], the lampstand, the altars, all the items that the priest used in the Sacred Tent, and the curtain that is inside the tent. Their work was also to take care of the things inside the tent.
Ellos tenían a su cargo el Arca, la mesa, el candelabro, los altares, los utensilios del Santuario que se usan en el ministerio, el velo y todo lo perteneciente a su servicio.
32 Aaron’s son Eleazar was the leader of all the male descendants of Levi. He supervised all the work that was done at the Sacred Tent.
El primer príncipe de los levitas era Eleazar, hijo del sacerdote Aarón, que tenía la superintendencia de los encargados del cuidado del Santuario.
33 The clans that were descended from Merari were those descended from [his sons] Mahli and Mushi.
De Merarí descienden la familia de los mahalitas y la de los musitas: estas son las familias de Merarí.
34 In those two clans there were 6,200 males who were at least one month old.
Sus empadronados, contando a todos los varones, de un mes para arriba, fueron seis mil doscientos.
35 They were told to set up their tents on the north side of the Sacred Tent. The leader of those two clans was Zuriel, the son of Abihail.
El príncipe de la casa paterna de las familias de Merarí era Suriel, hijo de Abihail. Estos acampaban al lado norte de la Morada.
36 The work of the men of those two clans was to take care of the frames that held up the tent, the crossbars, the pillars, and the bases. They also did all the work that was connected with those items.
Los hijos de Merarí tenían a su cargo el cuidado de los tablones de la Morada, de sus travesaños, columnas y basas, y de todos sus utensilios con todo lo perteneciente a su servicio;
37 Their work was also to take care of the posts [that held up the curtains that formed the walls of] the courtyard, and all the bases, tent pegs, and ropes [that fastened those curtains].
además de las columnas en torno al atrio, de sus basas, estacas y cuerdas.
38 Aaron and Moses/I and Aaron’s sons were told to set up their/our tents in the area in front of the Sacred Tent, on the east side. Their/Our work was to supervise the work that would be done in and around the Sacred Tent, for the benefit of the Israeli people. Only the priests were permitted to do that. [Yahweh declared that] we should execute anyone else who went near the tent [to do the work that the priests do].
Frente a la Morada, al oriente, delante del Tabernáculo de la Reunión, por donde se levanta el sol, tenían sus tiendas Moisés y Aarón y los hijos de este, que custodiaban el Santuario en nombre de los hijos de Israel; el extraño que se acercaba era castigado con la muerte.
39 When Aaron and Moses/I counted all the males who were at least one month old, who belonged to the clans descended from Levi, the total was 22,000.
El total de los levitas empadronados según sus familias por Moisés y Aarón, conforme a la orden de Yahvé, todos los varones de un mes para arriba, fue de veinte y dos mil.
40 Then Yahweh said to Moses/me, “Now count all the [other] firstborn males in Israel who are at least one month old, and write down their names.
Yahvé dijo a Moisés: “Haz el censo de todos los varones primogénitos de los hijos de Israel, de un mes para arriba, y cuéntalos por sus nombres.
41 Also, set apart for me the descendants of Levi to be substitutes for the firstborn males of the other Israelis. And set apart for me the livestock of the descendants of Levi to be substitutes for the firstborn livestock of the other Israeli people.”
Y tomarás para Mí a los levitas —Yo soy Yahvé— en lugar de todos los primogénitos de los hijos de Israel, y el ganado de los levitas en lugar de todos los primogénitos del ganado de los hijos de Israel.”
42 So Moses/I did that. He/I counted the firstborn males of all the Israeli people, as Yahweh had commanded.
Contó, pues, Moisés a todos los primogénitos de los hijos de Israel, como Yahvé se lo había mandado.
43 The total of those who were at least one month old was 22,273.
Y fueron, según el censo, todos los varones primogénitos de un mes para arriba, contados por nombres, veinte y dos mil doscientos setenta y tres.
44 Then Yahweh said to Moses/me,
Entonces habló Yahvé a Moisés, diciendo:
45 “Set apart the descendants of Levi to be substitutes for [the firstborn males of] the other Israeli people. The descendants of Levi belong to me, Yahweh.
“Toma a los levitas en lugar de todos los primogénitos de los hijos de Israel, y el ganado de los levitas en lugar del ganado de aquellos; y los levitas serán míos. Yo, Yahvé.
46 There are 273 more firstborn males of the other Israeli people than of the descendants of Levi.
Para el rescate de los doscientos setenta y tres primogénitos de los hijos de Israel que exceden del número de los levitas,
47 To pay for these 273 males, collect five pieces of silver for each of them. Each of those pieces of silver must weigh the same as each of the silver coins that are stored in the Sacred Tent. Give this silver to Aaron and his sons.”
tomarás cinco siclos por cabeza; los tomaras según el siclo del Santuario, que es de veinte güeras;
y darás el dinero a Aarón y a sus hijos como rescate de los que sobrepasan el número de los levitas.”
49 So Moses/I did that. He/I collected the silver from those 273 males.
Y Moisés cobró el dinero del rescate a los que sobrepasaban el número de los rescatados por los levitas.
50 The total was 1,365 pieces of silver. Each silver coin weighed the same as each of the silver coins stored in the Sacred Tent.
Tomó el dinero de parte de los primogénitos de los hijos de Israel: mil trescientos sesenta y cinco siclos, según el siclo del Santuario.
51 Moses/I gave these silver coins to Aaron and his sons, as Yahweh had commanded.
Moisés dio el dinero del rescate a Aarón y a sus hijos, según la orden de Yahvé, como Yahvé había mandado a Moisés.
