< Numbers 27 >
1 One day the five daughters of Zelophehad came [to Moses/me]. They were Mahlah, Noah, Hoglah, Milcah, and Tirzah.
Ɛda koro bi, Hefer babarima Selofehad mmammaa a wɔn edin ne Mahla, Noa, Hogla, Milka ne Tirsa baa Ahyiaeɛ Ntomadan no ano sɛ wɔde adesrɛ bi rebɛto Mose, ɔsɔfoɔ Eleasa ne mmusua panin ne afoforɔ a wɔwɔ hɔ no anim.
2 They came to the entrance of the Sacred Tent and stood in front of Eleazar, Moses/me, the tribal leaders, and many [EUP] other Israeli people.
Na mmaa no yɛ Yosef babarima Manase abusuafoɔ fa bi. Na wɔn ase firi Makir a ɔyɛ Manase babarima no fie. Na Manase babarima Gilead yɛ wɔn nana nkansowa ɛnna ne babarima Hefer nso yɛ wɔn nana ɛnna wɔn babarima Selofehad yɛ wɔn agya.
3 They said, “Our father died [during the time that we were] in the desert, and he did not have any sons. But he was not among those who supported Korah, who rebelled against Yahweh. He died just because he was a sinner [like everyone else].
Wɔkaa sɛ, “Yɛn agya wuu ɛserɛ so nanso na ɔnka wɔn a wɔne Kora yɛɛ dɔm tiaa Awurade a enti ɛmaa wɔwuwuiɛ no ho. Ɔno ankasa bɔne enti na ɔwuiɛ.
4 (Why should the name of his clan disappear [with the result that we do not receive any land] only because our father had no sons?/It is not right that the name of his clan disappear [with the result that we do not receive any land] only because our father had no sons.) [RHQ] So give us some land like our relatives will be getting!”
Adɛn enti na ɛsiane sɛ yɛn agya anwo ɔbabarima enti ne din ayera? Yɛgye di sɛ, ɛsɛ sɛ wɔma yɛn agyapadeɛ a yɛn agya nuammarimanom anya no bi.”
5 So Moses/I asked Yahweh [what to do about] their request.
Enti Mose de wɔn asɛm too Awurade anim.
7 “What the daughters of Zelophehad are requesting is right. You must give them some land, just as you are giving to their father’s relatives. Give to each of them some of the land that would have been given to their brothers [if they had any].
“Asɛm a Selofehad mmammaa no ka no yɛ nokorɛ. Ma wɔn ne wɔn agya nuanom no asase. Fa agyapadeɛ a sɛ wɔn agya no te ase a anka ɔbɛnya no ma wɔn.
8 “Also tell this to the Israeli people: ‘If a man who has no sons dies, give the things that his sons would have inherited to his daughters.
“Deɛ ɛdi hɔ bio ne sɛ, ɛsiane sɛ ɛyɛ mo mmara sɛ, sɛ obi wu na ɔnni mmammarima a wɔbɛdi nʼadeɛ a ɛsɛ sɛ nʼagyapadeɛ kɔ ne mmammaa hɔ enti, monyɛ no saa.
9 If the man has no sons or daughters, give to his brothers the things that his sons and daughters would have inherited.
Na sɛ ɔnni ɔbabaa nso a, ɛsɛ sɛ agyapadeɛ no kɔ ne nuammarima nkyɛn.
10 If the man had no brothers, give to his father’s brothers the things that his sons or daughters or brothers would have inherited.
Na sɛ ɔnni nuammarima a, ɛkɔ ne wɔfanom nkyɛn.
11 If the man’s father has no brothers, give to his closest relative the things that the others would have inherited.’ That will be a rule for the Israeli people, because I am giving this as a command to you, Moses, [to tell them].”
Na sɛ ɔnni wɔn mu biara bi a, ɛkɔ ne busuani bi a ɔbɛn no nkyɛn. Ɛsɛ sɛ Israelfoɔ di saa mmara a Awurade hyɛɛ Mose no so.”
12 One day, Yahweh said to Moses/me, “Climb to the top of the Abarim Mountains [east of the Jordan River]. Then look out over the land that I am giving to the Israeli people.
Ɛda bi, Awurade ka kyerɛɛ Mose sɛ, “Kɔ bepɔ a ɛwɔ Abarim mmepɔ no so na to wʼani fa asubɔnten a ɛda hɔ no so ma ɛnkɔsi asase a mede maa Israelfoɔ no so.
13 After you have seen it, you will die [EUP] just like your [older] brother Aaron did.
Sɛ wohwɛ wie a, wobɛwu sɛdeɛ wo nua Aaron wuiɛ no,
14 The reason [that you will die and not enter that land] is that you both disobeyed my instructions/commands in the Zin Desert. When the Israeli people rebelled against me there at Meribah, near Kadesh, [I told you to speak to the rock to cause] water to flow out of it. [But because you struck the rock instead of speaking to it], you did not show the people my holy power.”
ɛfiri sɛ, wosɔre tiaa me mmara wɔ Sin ɛserɛ so hɔ. Ɛberɛ a Israelfoɔ no sɔre tiaa me no, woamma wɔanhunu me kronkronyɛ wɔ nsuo no ho.” Na ɔretwe nʼadwene aba Meriba nsuo “Akoeɛ” a ɛwɔ Kades a ɛwɔ Sin ɛserɛ so no so.
15 Then Moses/I said this to Yahweh:
Mose ka kyerɛɛ Awurade sɛ,
16 “Yahweh, you are the God who directs the spirits of all people. So please appoint a new leader for the Israeli people.
“Ao Awurade, Onyankopɔn a woyɛ nnipa nyinaa honhom ti ansa na worebɛfa me no, mesrɛ, yi obi si mʼanan
17 Appoint someone who will lead your people when they go to fight a battle, so that they will not [just wander around] like sheep that do not have a shepherd.” [SIM]
a ɔde wɔn bɛkɔ ɔko na ɔbɛhwɛ wɔn so sɛdeɛ ɛbɛyɛ a Awurade nnipa bɛnya odwanhwɛfoɔ a ɔbɛhwɛ wɔn so.”
18 Yahweh replied, “Get Joshua, the son of Nun, who has my Spirit within him. Lay your hands on him [to appoint him].
Awurade buaa no sɛ, “Kɔ na kɔfrɛ Nun babarima Yosua a ɔwɔ Honhom no wɔ ne mu no,
19 Cause him to stand in front of Eleazar the priest, as all the people are watching, and commission/appoint him to be the new leader of the Israeli people.
na fa no kɔ ɔsɔfoɔ Eleasa nkyɛn, na nnipa no nyinaa rehwɛ mo no, fa nnipa no animdie so tumi hyɛ ne nsa.
20 Give to him some of the authority that you now have, in order that all the Israeli people will [know that they must] obey him.
Fa wo tumi ma no wɔ badwam sɛdeɛ ɛbɛyɛ a, Israelfoɔ nyinaa bɛtie no.
21 When you all need me to guide you, Joshua will stand in front of Eleazar. Then by (casting lots/throwing marked stones on the ground) Eleazar will find out what they should do.”
Sɛ wɔhia akwankyerɛ a ɛfiri Awurade hɔ a, Yosua bɛgyina ɔsɔfoɔ Eleasa anim, na ɔsɔfoɔ Eleasa abɔ ntonto kronkron de abisa Awurade apɛdeɛ. Saa ɛkwan yi so na Yosua ne Israelfoɔ no bɛfa so ahwehwɛ deɛ ɛsɛ sɛ wɔyɛ.”
22 So Moses/I did what Yahweh commanded. He/I presented Joshua to Eleazar and to all the Israeli people.
Enti, Mose yɛɛ deɛ Awurade hyɛɛ no sɛ ɔnyɛ no. Ɔde Yosua kyerɛɛ ɔsɔfoɔ Eleasa ne nnipa no nyinaa.
23 Moses/I laid his/my hands on him and commissioned/appointed him to do the work that Yahweh told Moses/me to tell him to do.
Mose de ne nsa guu no so, de nʼadwuma hyɛɛ ne nsa sɛdeɛ Awurade hyɛeɛ no.
