< Numbers 20 >

1 In March/April [of the next year], the Israeli people traveled/walked to the Zin Desert and (camped/set up their tents) near Kadesh [town]. While they/we were there, [Moses’/my older sister] Miriam died and was buried there.
Hiche kum lha masa pen chun Israel mite Zin gamthip ahin jon tauvin Kadesh muna akichol do uvin, hikom muna akicholdo laitah un Miriam chu athi’n hiche muna chun avui tauve.
2 There was no water for the people to drink there, so they came to Aaron and Moses/me.
Hiche muna chun Twidon ding aum tah lou jeh chun mipi ho chu Mose le Aaron dounan akiphin kit tauvin ahi.
3 They complained and said, “We wish that we had died in front of Yahweh’s Sacred Tent when our fellow Israelis died!
Mipi ho chun Mose themmo achan un, hitin asei tauvin gamthip lah achun Pathen masanga ka sopite ho toh ana thi khom taleu veng ka nom uve, atiuve.
4 (Did you bring us, who are Yahweh’s people, into this desert to die along with our livestock?/You brought us, who are Yahweh’s people, into this desert to die along with our livestock!) [RHQ]
Mose’n hiche Pathen chate mi hi jat hi gamthip golah’a athi chai kei ding’a keiho le ka gancha te’u neipuiyu ham, tin asei uve.
5 Why did you bring us from Egypt to this miserable place [RHQ]? There is no grain, there are no figs, no grapes, and no pomegranates here. And there is no water for us to drink!”
Ipi dinga Egypt gamma kona chu nei hin pui doh uham hi tobang gam leiset chavei tah mun ahi atiuve. Hiche leiset gam pheng ahin agasoh jong aumpon, Olive thei, Kolbu thei chule lengpi thei chang jong umlou chu leh tui donding jong imacha aum poi tin asei un ahi.
6 Aaron and Moses/I turned away from the people and went to the entrance of the Sacred Tent and prostrated themselves/ourselves on the ground. Then Yahweh appeared to them/us with his bright glory,
Mose le Aaron chu mipi holah akon in aki nunghei lhon tan, houbuh maicham jotna lamma chun ahin nai lhon tai, hichun amani chu tolgo lamma amai aphul lut lhon in chu in Pathen mailhaisel kidang tah chu amani heng lamah ahung kilang doh tai.
7 and he said to Moses/me,
Chu in Pakaiyin Mose heng’a hiti hin aseijin ahi.
8 “You and Aaron must take Aaron’s walking stick with you and gather all the people together. While the people are watching, command that water will flow out of that [large] rock over there. Water for the people will flow from it; all they and all their livestock will have enough water to drink.”
Nang le Aaron in na tenggol chu na choi lhon ding Israel mipi chu aboncha nakhop tup ding, mipi hon na um chan, na khan chan avet ding’u, songpi chu na thu’a na nunsah’a na koudoh tho ding ahi. Chu teng tui don ding hung put doh ding ahi. Nangman song chunga patna tui mipi te don ding kham na putdoh sah ding, mipi jouse chu na don va sah cheh diu ahi.
9 So Moses/I did what Yahweh told him/me to do. He/I took Aaron’s walking stick from the place in the Sacred Tent where it was kept.
Chuin Pakaiyin asei bang chun Mose’n jong atenggol chu alan song chu ajep jeng tan ahi.
10 Then Aaron and he/I summoned all the people to gather at the rock. Then Moses/I shouted to them, “All you rebellious people, listen! Is it necessary for us to give you water from this rock?”
Hichun Mose le Aaron chun mipi chu songpi kom langa ding in akou lhon tan, Mose’n hitin asam tan, ngaijun sei ngailou milouchal ho ati tai. Songpi akonna hi tui kapot doh sah tei ding ahi tai tin asam in ahi.
11 Then Moses/I raised his/my hand and [instead of speaking to the rock], he/I struck the rock two times with the walking stick. And water gushed/poured out. So all the people and their livestock drank all the water that they wanted.
Mose’n akhotna tenggol chu adom sang in songpi chu nivei ajep khum tan ahileh tuijel chu ahung long doh tai. Hichun mipi jouse ahin gancha jouse’n jong adonva soh keitau vin ahi.
12 But Yahweh said to Aaron and Moses/me, “You did not believe that I could demonstrate my power to the Israeli people [and give them water without your striking the rock]. So you will not lead them into the land that I am giving to them!”
Ahinlah Pathen in Mose le Aaron jah’a aseijin nangni’n nei tah san lhon hi alhing jou tapoi, Israel mipi hi ka themna na musah jou ta poi keiman ka tep pehnau gam leiset geija chu na puilut lou ding ahi tai, ati.
13 Later this place was called Meribah, [which means ‘arguing’], because there the Israeli people argued with Yahweh, and there he showed his power to them [by giving them water].
Hiche mun hi Meribah akisah tan, ajeh chu Israel mite Pathen toh ana kinielkal un ahin hiche lai muntah ahin Pathen thenna chu a kilang doh deh in ahi.
14 [While the people were] at Kadesh [town], Moses/I sent messengers to the king of Edom to tell him this: “Your relatives, the Israeli people, are sending you this message. You know the many troubles/hardships that have happened to us.
Mose’n kadesh a um laitah in Edom lengpa hiche thuchang hohi kahin seinom ahije nasopi Israel mitin hitobang nga gim genthei ka hin thoh u ahitai.
15 You know that our ancestors went down to Egypt. You know that they stayed there for many years. They suffered because the [rulers of] Egypt caused them to become their slaves [and to work very hard].
Ipateu Iputeu mi sagi phung lamkai ho Egypt gam lang nga ana kholjin un phat sottah jing jong ana khosa tauvin, pate puteho jouse Egypt miten ana suh gam tahval uchu tin aseiye.
16 “But when they called out to Yahweh, he heard them and sent an angel who brought them out of Egypt. Now we have set up our tents here at Kadesh, a town at the border of your land.
Ahinlah keihon Pathen henglam kakou’un-ka mao-mao phat un Pakai, Pathen amatah tah’in eijah peh phat uva avantil eihin sol peh’uva Egypt a konna eihin pui doh’u ahi.
17 Please allow us to travel through your country. We will [be careful to] not walk through your fields and your vineyards. We will not even drink water from your wells. As we travel, we will stay on the king’s highway, [the main road that goes from the south to the north], and we will not leave that road until we have crossed the border [of your country in the north].”
Lungset tah in nagam sungah nei chensah un, keiho chingthei tah’a lam kajot diu mim le lengpi thei lah akapal lou diu ahi. Natui khuh uva twi jing jong kadon palou diu, keiho lengpa lamlen lang bou kache diu, mundang-achom lang kaho pa lou diu ahitai. Hichu nagam leiset kada lhah kah sungse uva ding ahi.
18 But the king of Edom refused. He replied, “Stay out of my country! If you try [to enter it], I will [send my army to] attack you!”
Ahinlah Edom lengpan hitin adon but in asei tai, keima leiset gamsunga kon in kikhin doh un ahiloule keima galsat hotoh iki muto diu ahi, ati.
19 The Israeli messengers replied, “[If we travel through your country], we will stay on the main road. If we and any of our livestock drink any of your water, we will pay for it. We want only to travel through your country. We do not want anything else.”
20 But the king replied, “No! Stay out of our country! We will not [allow you] to travel through our land!” Then he sent the strongest soldiers in his army to prevent the Israelis [from entering his country].
Amavang Edom leng pan hitin ahin donbut tai. Kikhin doh un keima leiset gamsung na hopa thei lou diu ahi. Hiche ahou lim jou chun a galsat hotoh lam ajot nun Israel mite chu ano taovin ahi
21 So, because [the king of] Edom refused to allow the Israelis to travel through his country, the Israelis turned [and traveled a different way].
Edom in Israel te lam jot na ding phalna ahin peh tahlou jeh in a gam sung leiset’u hopa thei ahitah lou jeh in Israel mite nomphun a louthei lou va kinung le din ache tauve.
22 The Israeli people left Kadesh. They went to Hor Mountain,
Israel mipi chu Kadesh apat’nin aki nung le un Hor molsang chu ahin jon tauve.
23 [which is at the border of Edom]. While they were there, Yahweh said to Aaron and Moses/me,
Chuin Edom gam ning lam ah chun Pathen in Mose le Aaron ahoulim pitan ahi.
24 “It is time for Aaron to die [EUP]. He will not enter the land that I am giving to you Israelis, because the two of you disobeyed me [when I told you to speak to the rock to cause] the water [to flow] at Meribah.
Phat ahung chal bang in Aaron akicholdo phat apetai apute ho chu toh Aaron hi keiman katep peh nagam Israelte chenna ding kiti lhung lou chu Mose le Aaron’n in ka thuseina ngai lhonpon twi jeh in na phun lhon tai ati.
25 Now you, Moses, take Aaron and his son Eleazar up on Hor Mountain.
Tun Aaron le Eleazer chu Hor molsang lam ah pui touvin, aum lhon tai.
26 There you must remove Aaron’s robes [that he wears when he does the work of a priest], and put them on his son, Eleazar. Aaron will die up there.”
Hiche muna chu nangman Eleazer themgao von chu na sut lhah peh a Eleazer chapa chu na kiah sah ding ahi. Hilai muntah a chu Aaron chu thi den ding ahi tai.
27 So Moses/I did what Yahweh commanded. The three of them/us climbed up Hor Mountain, while all the Israeli people watched.
Hichun Mose’n Pathen in a seipeh bang tah chun abollin Amaho thumchu Hor molchung lam ah akal tou tauve. Israel mipi chun amaho umchan chu akhol chil kit nun ahi.
28 At the top of the mountain, Moses/I took off the robes that Aaron wore [while he did the work of a priest] and put them on Eleazar. Then Aaron died there on the top of the mountain, and Eleazar and Moses/I went back down.
Molchung ah chun Mose chun Aaron thempu von kang chu asut lhah peh in Eleazer le Aaron chapa chung ah chun akoi peh tai. Hilai munah chun Aaron chu athi den tan Mose le Eleazer chu ahung kinung le lhon tai.
29 When the Israeli people realized that Aaron had died, they all mourned for him for 30 days.
Mipi chun Aaron thi chu aja tauvin Israel miten ni somthum jen alunghempi taovin ahi.
