Nehemiah 6
1 Sanballat, Tobiah, Geshem, and our other enemies heard [a report] that we had finished rebuilding the wall, and that now there were no more (gaps/places where the wall was not finished) (although we had not yet put the doors in the gates).
௧நான் மதிலைக் கட்டிமுடித்ததையும், இனி அதிலே திறப்பு ஒன்றுமில்லை என்பதையும், சன்பல்லாத்தும், தொபியாவும், அரபியனான கேஷேமும் எங்களுக்கிருந்த மற்ற எதிரிகளும் கேள்விப்பட்டபோது,
2 So Sanballat and Geshem sent [a message] to me, in which they said “Come and talk with us at a place in Ono Plain [north of Jerusalem].” But [I knew that] really they wanted to harm me [if I went there].
௨நான் வாசல்களுக்கு இன்னும் கதவு போடாமலிருப்பதால், சன்பல்லாத்தும், கேஷேமும் ஆள் அனுப்பி: நாம் ஓனோ பள்ளத்தாக்கில் இருக்கிற கிராமங்கள் ஒன்றில் ஒருவரையொருவர் கண்டு பேசுவோம் வாரும் என்று கூப்பிட்டார்கள்; அவர்களோவென்றால் எனக்குத் தீங்கு செய்ய நினைத்தார்கள்.
3 So I sent messengers to them, to tell them, “I am doing an important work, and I cannot go down [there]. (Why should I stop doing this work just to go down to [talk with] you?/I do not want to stop doing this work just to go down to [talk with] you.)” [RHQ]
௩அப்பொழுது நான் அவர்களிடத்திற்கு ஆட்களை அனுப்பி: நான் பெரிய வேலையைச் செய்கிறேன், நான் வரமுடியாது; நான் அந்த வேலையைவிட்டு உங்களிடத்திற்கு வருவதால் இந்த வேலை நின்றுவிடும் என்று சொல்லச்சொன்னேன்.
4 They sent me the same message four times, and each time when I replied to them I said the same thing.
௪அவர்கள் இந்தவிதமாக நான்குமுறை எனக்குச் சொல்லியனுப்பினார்கள்; நானும் இந்த விதமாகவே அவர்களுக்கு மறுமொழி அனுப்பினேன்.
5 Then Sanballat sent one of his servants to me, bringing a fifth message. This one was written, but it was not sealed. [He did that in order that others would read the message that the servant was carrying] in his hand.
௫ஐந்தாம் முறையும் சன்பல்லாத்து அந்த விதமாகவே தன்னுடைய வேலைக்காரனையும், அவன் கையிலே முத்திரைபோடாத ஒரு கடிதத்தையும் எனக்கு அனுப்பினான்.
6 This is what was written in the message: “Some people in the nearby countries have heard a report that you and the other Jews are rebuilding the wall [in order to be able to resist attacks], because you are planning to revolt [against the king of Babylon]. And the report also says that you are planning to become the king [of the Israelis]. Geshem says that what they have reported is true.
௬அதிலே: நீரும் யூதர்களும் கலகம்செய்ய நினைக்கிறீர்கள் என்றும், அதற்காக நீர் மதிலைக் கட்டுகிறீர் என்றும், இந்த விதமாக நீர் அவர்களுக்கு ராஜாவாகப் போகிறீர் என்றும்,
7 [People are also saying that] you have appointed some prophets to proclaim in Jerusalem that you, [Nehemiah, ] are now the king in Judea. King [Artaxerxes] will certainly hear these reports, [and then you will be in big trouble]. So I suggest that we should meet together to talk about this matter.”
௭யூதாவிலே ஒரு ராஜா இருக்கிறார் என்று உம்மைக்குறித்து எருசலேமிலே கூறுகிற தீர்க்கதரிசிகளையும் சம்பாதித்தீரென்றும் யூதரல்லாதவர்களுக்குள்ளே பிரபலமாக இருக்கிறது, கஷ்மூவும் அப்படிச் சொல்லுகிறான்; இப்போதும் இந்தச் செய்தி ராஜாவிற்கு எட்டுமே; ஆகையால் நாம் ஒருவரோடொருவர் ஆலோசனை செய்வதற்காக நீர் வரவேண்டும் என்று எழுதியிருந்தது.
8 [When I read that message, ] I sent [the messenger] back to Sanballat to say, “None of what you are saying is true. You have (made this up/concocted this) in your own head/mind.”
௮அதற்கு நான்: நீர் சொல்லுகிற அந்தக் காரியங்களில் ஒன்றும் நடக்கவில்லை; அவைகள் உம்முடைய மனதின் கற்பனையே அல்லாமல் வேறல்ல என்று சொல்லியனுப்பினேன்.
9 [I said that because I knew that] they were trying to cause us to be afraid, with the result that we would stop working [on the wall]. So I actually became more determined (OR, I prayed to God to help me) [to continue the work].
௯அந்த வேலை நடைபெறாமலிருக்க, எங்கள் கைகள் சோர்ந்துபோகும் என்று சொல்லி, அவர்கள் எல்லோரும் எங்களைப் பயமுறுத்தப்பார்த்தார்கள். ஆதலால் தேவனே, நீர் என்னுடைய கைகளைத் பலப்படுத்தியருளும்.
10 [One day] I went to talk with Shemaiah, son of Delaiah and grandson of Mehetabel. I went to talk with him in his house, because he was not able (OR, allowed) to leave his house. He said to me, “You and I must enter the very sacred place in the temple and lock the doors, because people are going to come to kill you at night.”
௧0மெகதாபெயேலின் மகனாகிய தெலாயாவின் மகன் செமாயா தன்னுடைய வீட்டிலே அடைக்கப்பட்டிருக்கும்போது, நான் அவனிடத்தில் போனேன்; அப்பொழுது அவன்: நாம் இருவருமாக தேவனுடைய வீடாகிய ஆலயத்திற்குள்ளே போய், தேவாலயத்தின் கதவுகளைப் பூட்டுவோம் வாரும்; உம்மைக் கொன்றுபோட வருவார்கள், இரவிலே உம்மைக் கொன்றுபோட வருவார்கள் என்றான்.
11 I replied, “I (am not that kind of person/do not do things like that) [RHQ]! I would not run and hide in the temple to save my life! No, I will not do that!”
௧௧அதற்கு நான்: என்னைப்போன்ற மனிதன் ஓடிப்போவானோ? என்னைப் போன்றவன் உயிர் பிழைக்கும்படி தேவாலயத்திலே போய்ப் பதுங்குவானோ? நான் போவதில்லை என்றேன்.
12 When I thought [about what he had said], I realized that God had not told Shemaiah to say that to me. I realized that Tobiah and Sanballat had bribed him [to say that to me].
௧௨தேவன் அவனை அனுப்பவில்லையென்றும், தொபியாவும் சன்பல்லாத்தும் அவனுக்குக் பணம்கொடுத்ததால், அவன் எனக்கு விரோதமாக அந்தத் தீர்க்கதரிசனத்தைச் சொன்னான் என்றும் அறிந்துகொண்டேன்.
13 They had bribed him to cause me to be afraid. They wanted me to [disobey God’s commands and] sin [by hiding in the temple]. If I did that, they would be able to ruin my reputation [MTY] and discredit me.
௧௩நான் பயந்து அவர்கள் சொன்னதைச்செய்து பாவம் செய்வதற்கும், என்னை அவமானப்படுத்த காரணத்தை ஏற்படுத்துவதற்கும் அவனுக்கு பணம் கொடுத்திருந்தார்கள்.
14 [So I prayed, ] “My God, do not forget what Tobiah and Sanballat have done. Punish them. And do not forget that the female prophet Noadiah and some of the other prophets have also tried to cause me to be afraid.”
௧௪என்னுடைய தேவனே, தொபியாவும் சன்பல்லாத்தும் செய்த இந்தச் செய்கைகளுக்குத்தகுந்ததாக நீர் அவர்களையும், நொவதியாள் என்னும் தீர்க்கதரிசியானவளையும், எனக்கு பயமுண்டாக்கப்பார்த்த மற்றத் தீர்க்கதரிசிகளையும் நினைத்துக்கொள்ளும்.
15 On October 2 we finished rebuilding the wall. We did it all in 52 days.
௧௫அப்படியே மதிலானது ஐம்பத்திரண்டு நாட்களுக்குள்ளே கட்டப்பட்டு, எலூல் மாதம் இருபத்தைந்தாந்தேதியிலே முடிந்தது.
16 When our enemies in the nearby countries heard about that, they realized that they had been humiliated, because everyone knew that it was because God helped us that we had been able to do this work [and that they had not been able to force us to quit].
௧௬எங்கள் எதிரிகள் எல்லோரும் அதைக் கேட்டபோதும், எங்களை சுற்றிலும் இருக்கிற யூதரல்லாதவர்கள் அனைவரும் கண்டபோதும், மிகவும் நம்பிக்கையற்றுப்போய், இந்த செயல் எங்கள் தேவனால் கைகூடி வந்ததென்று அறிந்தார்கள்.
17 During this time, the Jewish leaders had been sending many messages/letters to Tobiah, and Tobiah had been sending messages back to them.
௧௭அந்த நாட்களில் யூதாவிலுள்ள பெரிய மனிதர்களிடத்திலிருந்து தொபியாவுக்குப் போகிறதும், தொபியாவினிடத்திலிருந்து அவர்களுக்கு வருகிறதுமான கடிதங்கள் அநேகமாயிருந்தது.
18 Many people in Judea were closely associated with Tobiah, because he was the son-in-law of Shecaniah the son of Arah. Furthermore, Tobiah’s son Jehohanan had married the daughter of Meshullam the son of Berekiah.
௧௮அவன் ஆராகின் மகனாகிய செகனியாவுக்கு மருமகனாக இருந்ததும் அல்லாமல், அவன் மகனாகிய யோகனான் பெரகியாவின் மகனாகிய மெசுல்லாமின் மகளை திருமணம் செய்திருந்ததாலும், யூதாவில் அநேகர் அவனுக்கு ஆணையிட்டுக் கொடுத்திருந்தார்கள்.
19 People often talked in my presence about all the good things that Tobiah had done, and then they would tell him everything that I said. So Tobiah sent many letters to me to try to cause me to become afraid.
௧௯அவன் செய்யும் நன்மைகளையும் அவர்கள் எனக்கு முன்பாக விவரித்து, என்னுடைய வார்த்தைகளை அவனுக்குக் கொண்டுபோவார்கள்; தொபியா எனக்குப் பயமுண்டாகக் கடிதங்களை அனுப்புவான்.
