Matthew 1
1 [This is] the record of the ancestors of Jesus the Messiah, the descendant of [King] David and of Abraham, [from whom all we Jews have descended].
दाऊदका पुत्र अब्राहामका पुत्र येशू ख्रीष्टको वंशावलीको पुस्तक ।
2 Abraham was the father of Isaac. Isaac was the father of Jacob. Jacob was the father of Judah and Judah’s [older and younger] brothers.
अब्राहाम इसहाकका पिता थिए, र इसहाक याकूबका पिता थिए, र याकूब यहूदा र तिनका दाजुभाइहरूका पिता थिए ।
3 Judah was the father of Perez and Zerah, [and their mother] was Tamar. Perez was the father of Hezron. Hezron was the father of Ram.
यहूदा तामारद्वारा फारेस र जाहेरका पिता थिए, फारेस हेस्रोनका पिता, र हेस्रोन आरामका पिता थिए ।
4 Ram was the father of Amminadab. Amminadab was the father of Nahshon. Nahshon was the father of Salmon.
आराम अम्मीनादाबका पिता, अम्मीनादाब नहशोनका पिता, र नहशोन सल्मोनका पिता थिए ।
5 Salmon and his wife Rahab, [a non-Jewish woman], were the parents of Boaz. Boaz was the father of Obed. [Obed’s mother was] Ruth, [another non-Jewish woman]. Obed was the father of Jesse.
सल्मोन राहाबद्वारा बोअजका पिता, बोअज रूथद्वारा ओबेदका पिता, ओबेद यिशैका पिता थिए,
6 Jesse was the father of King David. David was the father of Solomon. [Solomon’s mother was previously married to] Uriah.
यिशै दाऊद राजाका पिता थिए । दाऊद उरियाहकी पत्नीद्वारा सोलोमनका पिता थिए ।
7 Solomon was the father of Rehoboam. Rehoboam was the father of Abijah. Abijah was the father of Asaph.
सोलोमन रहबामका पिता, रहबाम अबियाका पिता, अबिया आसाका पिता थिए ।
8 Asaph was the father of Jehoshaphat. Jehoshaphat was the father of Jehoram. Jehoram was an ancestor of Uzziah.
आसा यहोशापातका पिता, यहोशापात यहोरामका पिता, र यहोराम उज्जियाहका पिता थिए ।
9 Uzziah was the father of Jotham. Jotham was the father of Ahaz. Ahaz was the father of Hezekiah.
उज्जियाह योतामका पिता, योताम आहाजका पिता, आहाज हिजकियाका पिता थिए ।
10 Hezekiah was the father of Manasseh. Manasseh was the father of Amon. Amon was the father of Josiah.
हिजकिया मनश्शेका पिता, मनश्शे अमोनका पिता, अमोन योशियाहका पिता थिए ।
11 Josiah was the grandfather of Jeconiah and Jeconiah’s brothers. [They lived] at the time when the [Babylonian army] took the Israelites as captives to the [country of] Babylon.
बेबिलोनमा निर्वासनको समयमा योशियाह यकोनियास र तिनका दाजुभाइहरूका पिता भए ।
12 After the Babylonians took the Israelites to Babylon, Jeconiah became the father of Shealtiel. Shealtiel was the grandfather of Zerubbabel.
र बेबिलोनमा निर्वासनपछि यकोनियास शालतिएलका पिता भए, शालतिएल यरुबाबेलका पूर्वज थिए ।
13 Zerubbabel was the father of Abiud. Abiud was the father of Eliakim.
यरुबाबेल अबिउदका पिता, अबिउद एल्याकीमका पिता, र एल्याकीम आजोरका पिता थिए ।
14 Eliakim was the father of Azor. Azor was the father of Zadok. Zadok was the father of Akim.
आजोर सादोकका पिता, सादोक आखिमका पिता, र आखिम एलिउदका पिता थिए ।
15 Akim was the father of Eliud. Eliud was the father of Eleazar. Eleazar was the father of Matthan. Matthan was the father of Jacob.
एलिउद एलाजारका पिता, एलाजार मत्तानका पिता, र मत्तान याकूबका पिता थिए ।
16 Jacob was the father of Joseph. Joseph was Mary’s husband, and Mary was Jesus’ mother. Jesus is the one who is called {whom we call} the Messiah.
याकूब तिनै मरियमका पति योसेफका पिता थिए, जसबाट येशू जन्मनुभयो, जसलाई ख्रीष्ट भनिन्छ ।
17 [As you can calculate, I have grouped Jesus’] ancestors [as follows: ] There was [a succession of] 14 of them from [the time when] Abraham [lived] to [the time when King] David [lived]. There was [a succession of] 14 of them from [the time when] David [lived] to [the time when] the [Israelites were taken] {[the Babylonian army took the Israelites]} away to Babylon. There was [a succession of] 14 of them from [the time when the Israelites were taken] {[the Babylonian army took the Israelites]} away to Babylon until [the time when] the Messiah [was born].
अब्राहामदेखि दाऊदसम्म जम्मा पुस्ता चौध पुस्ता, दाऊददेखि बेबिलोनको निर्वासनसम्म चौध पुस्ता र बेबिलोनको निर्वासनदेखि येशू ख्रीष्टसम्म चौध पुस्ता थिए ।
18 This is [the account of what happened just before] Jesus Christ was born. Mary, his mother, {had publicly promised Joseph that she would marry him} had been publicly promised to marry Joseph. Before they began to sleep together, [Mary] realized that she was pregnant. [It was the power of] the Holy Spirit that had caused her to become pregnant.
येशू ख्रीष्टको जन्म यस प्रकारले भयो । उहाँकी आमा मरियमको योसेफसँग विवाहको निम्ति मगनी भएको थियो, तर उनीहरूको सहवास हुनुभन्दा अगाडि तिनी पवित्र आत्माद्वारा गर्भवती भएकी थाहा हुन आयो ।
19 Joseph, her [future] husband, was a man who obeyed God’s commands. [One of those commands was that men must divorce women who had acted immorally. So when Joseph learned that Mary was pregnant, he assumed that she was pregnant as a result of her acting immorally]. So he decided to break the engagement. But because he did not want to shame her publicly, he decided to do it privately.
तिनका पति योसेफ धर्मी मानिस थिए र उनले तिनलाई सबैका सामु शर्ममा पार्न चाहेनन् । यसैले, उनले गोप्य प्रकारले तिनीसँगको मगनीलाई रद्द गर्ने निर्णय गरे ।
20 While he was seriously considering this, much to his surprise, in a dream he saw an angel whom the Lord [had sent]. The angel said, “Joseph, descendant of [King] David, do not be afraid that [you(sg) would be doing wrong if you(sg) would marry] Mary. Instead, [begin to treat her] as your wife, because the Holy Spirit, [not a man], has caused her to be pregnant.
जसै उनले यी कुराहरूको बारेमा विचार गरे, सपनामा परमप्रभुका एक जना स्वर्गदूत उनको सामु देखा परे र यसो भने, “हे दाऊदका पुत्र योसेफ, मरियमलाई आफ्नी पत्नीको रूपमा स्वीकार्न नडराऊ, किनकि जो तिनको गर्भमा हुनुहुन्छ, उहाँ पवित्र आत्माद्वारा गर्भधारण हुनुभएको हो ।
21 She will give birth to a son. Since it is he who will cause that his people will be saved from [the guilt of] their having sinned, name [the baby] Jesus, [which means ‘the Lord saves people’].”
तिनले एक जना पुत्र जन्माउनेछिन् र तिमीले उहाँको नाउँ येशू राख्नेछौ, किनकि उहाँले आफ्ना मानिसहरूलाई तिनीहरूका पापबाट बचाउनुहुनेछ ।”
22 All this happened as a result of what the Lord told the prophet [Isaiah to write long ago about what was going to happen]. This is what Isaiah wrote:
अगमवक्ताद्वारा परमप्रभुले बोल्नुभएको यस्तो भनाइ पुरा हुनलाई यी सबै भए,
23 “Listen, a virgin will become pregnant and will give birth to a son. They will call him Emmanuel.” Emmanuel means ‘God is with us’.
“हेर, कन्या गर्भवती हुनेछिन् र एक जना पुत्र जन्माउनेछिन्, र तिनीहरूले उहाँको नाउँ इम्मानुएल राख्नेछन्”, जसको अर्थ हुन्छ, “परमेश्वर हामीसँग ।”
24 When Joseph got up from sleep, he did what the angel whom the Lord [had sent] commanded him to do. He took [Mary] home to be his wife.
योसेफ निद्राबाट ब्युँझे र उनले परमप्रभुका दूतले आज्ञा गरेअनुसार गरे र उनले तिनलाई उनकी पत्नीको रूपमा स्वीकारे ।
25 But he did not have sexual relations with her until she had given birth to a son. And [Joseph] named him Jesus.
तर, तिनले पुत्रलाई जन्म नदिएसम्म उनले तिनीसँग शारीरिक सम्बन्ध राखेनन् । र उनले उहाँको नाउँ येशू राखे ।
