< Matthew 26 >

1 When Jesus had finished [saying] all those things, he said to [us] disciples,
ಯೀಶುರೇತಾನ್ ಪ್ರಸ್ತಾವಾನ್ ಸಮಾಪ್ಯ ಶಿಷ್ಯಾನೂಚೇ,
2 “You know that two days from now [we will celebrate] the Passover [festival]. [At that time] I, the one who came from heaven, will be handed over to {they will put me, the one who came from heaven, into the hands of} those who will nail me to a cross.”
ಯುಷ್ಮಾಭಿ ರ್ಜ್ಞಾತಂ ದಿನದ್ವಯಾತ್ ಪರಂ ನಿಸ್ತಾರಮಹ ಉಪಸ್ಥಾಸ್ಯತಿ, ತತ್ರ ಮನುಜಸುತಃ ಕ್ರುಶೇನ ಹನ್ತುಂ ಪರಕರೇಷು ಸಮರ್ಪಿಷ್ಯತೇ|
3 At the same time the chief priests and the Jewish elders gathered in the home of the high priest, whose name was Caiaphas.
ತತಃ ಪರಂ ಪ್ರಧಾನಯಾಜಕಾಧ್ಯಾಪಕಪ್ರಾಞ್ಚಃ ಕಿಯಫಾನಾಮ್ನೋ ಮಹಾಯಾಜಕಸ್ಯಾಟ್ಟಾಲಿಕಾಯಾಂ ಮಿಲಿತ್ವಾ
4 [There] they plotted how they could seize Jesus in some deceitful way so that they could have him executed.
ಕೇನೋಪಾಯೇನ ಯೀಶುಂ ಧೃತ್ವಾ ಹನ್ತುಂ ಶಕ್ನುಯುರಿತಿ ಮನ್ತ್ರಯಾಞ್ಚಕ್ರುಃ|
5 But they said, “[We must] not [do it] during the [Passover] festival, because [if we do it then], the people might riot.”
ಕಿನ್ತು ತೈರುಕ್ತಂ ಮಹಕಾಲೇ ನ ಧರ್ತ್ತವ್ಯಃ, ಧೃತೇ ಪ್ರಜಾನಾಂ ಕಲಹೇನ ಭವಿತುಂ ಶಕ್ಯತೇ|
6 While Jesus [and we] were in Bethany [village] in the home of Simon, whom [Jesus had healed of] leprosy,
ತತೋ ಬೈಥನಿಯಾಪುರೇ ಶಿಮೋನಾಖ್ಯಸ್ಯ ಕುಷ್ಠಿನೋ ವೇಶ್ಮನಿ ಯೀಶೌ ತಿಷ್ಠತಿ
7 a woman came to him. She [was carrying] a stone jar [containing] very expensive perfume. [To show how much she appreciated] Jesus, she poured the perfume on his head as he was eating.
ಕಾಚನ ಯೋಷಾ ಶ್ವೇತೋಪಲಭಾಜನೇನ ಮಹಾರ್ಘ್ಯಂ ಸುಗನ್ಧಿ ತೈಲಮಾನೀಯ ಭೋಜನಾಯೋಪವಿಶತಸ್ತಸ್ಯ ಶಿರೋಭ್ಯಷೇಚತ್|
8 When [we] disciples saw that, [some of us] were angry. [One of us] said, “(It is terrible that this perfume was wasted!/Why was this perfume wasted?) [RHQ]
ಕಿನ್ತು ತದಾಲೋಕ್ಯ ತಚ್ಛಿಷ್ಯೈಃ ಕುಪಿತೈರುಕ್ತಂ, ಕುತ ಇತ್ಥಮಪವ್ಯಯತೇ?
9 [We] could have sold it and gotten a lot of money for it! Then the money could have been given {[we] could have given the money} to poor people.”
ಚೇದಿದಂ ವ್ಯಕ್ರೇಷ್ಯತ, ತರ್ಹಿ ಭೂರಿಮೂಲ್ಯಂ ಪ್ರಾಪ್ಯ ದರಿದ್ರೇಭ್ಯೋ ವ್ಯತಾರಿಷ್ಯತ|
10 Jesus knew [what we were saying. So he] said to us, “(You should not be bothering this woman!/Why are you bothering this woman?) [RHQ] She has done a beautiful thing to me.
ಯೀಶುನಾ ತದವಗತ್ಯ ತೇ ಸಮುದಿತಾಃ, ಯೋಷಾಮೇನಾಂ ಕುತೋ ದುಃಖಿನೀಂ ಕುರುಥ, ಸಾ ಮಾಂ ಪ್ರತಿ ಸಾಧು ಕರ್ಮ್ಮಾಕಾರ್ಷೀತ್|
11 [Keep in mind that] you will always have poor people among you, [so you can help them whenever you want to]. But I will not always be with you, [so it is good for her to show now that she appreciates me!]
ಯುಷ್ಮಾಕಮಂ ಸಮೀಪೇ ದರಿದ್ರಾಃ ಸತತಮೇವಾಸತೇ, ಕಿನ್ತು ಯುಷ್ಮಾಕಮನ್ತಿಕೇಹಂ ನಾಸೇ ಸತತಂ|
12 When she poured this perfume on my body, [it was as if she knew that I am going to die soon. And it is as if she] has anointed my body for being buried.
ಸಾ ಮಮ ಕಾಯೋಪರಿ ಸುಗನ್ಧಿತೈಲಂ ಸಿಕ್ತ್ವಾ ಮಮ ಶ್ಮಶಾನದಾನಕರ್ಮ್ಮಾಕಾರ್ಷೀತ್|
13 I will tell you this: Wherever this good message [about me] is preached {people preach this good message about me} throughout the world, those who preach it will tell what this woman has done, [and as a result] people will [always] remember her.”
ಅತೋಹಂ ಯುಷ್ಮಾನ್ ತಥ್ಯಂ ವದಾಮಿ ಸರ್ವ್ವಸ್ಮಿನ್ ಜಗತಿ ಯತ್ರ ಯತ್ರೈಷ ಸುಸಮಾಚಾರಃ ಪ್ರಚಾರಿಷ್ಯತೇ, ತತ್ರ ತತ್ರೈತಸ್ಯಾ ನಾರ್ಯ್ಯಾಃ ಸ್ಮರಣಾರ್ಥಮ್ ಕರ್ಮ್ಮೇದಂ ಪ್ರಚಾರಿಷ್ಯತೇ|
14 Then Judas Iscariot (OR, Judas, the man from Kerioth [Town]), [even though he was] one of [us] twelve [disciples], went to the chief priests.
ತತೋ ದ್ವಾದಶಶಿಷ್ಯಾಣಾಮ್ ಈಷ್ಕರಿಯೋತೀಯಯಿಹೂದಾನಾಮಕ ಏಕಃ ಶಿಷ್ಯಃ ಪ್ರಧಾನಯಾಜಕಾನಾಮನ್ತಿಕಂ ಗತ್ವಾ ಕಥಿತವಾನ್,
15 He asked them, “If I enable you to seize [Jesus], how much [money] are you willing to give me?” They [agreed to give him] 30 silver coins. So they counted out the coins and [gave them] to him.
ಯದಿ ಯುಷ್ಮಾಕಂ ಕರೇಷು ಯೀಶುಂ ಸಮರ್ಪಯಾಮಿ, ತರ್ಹಿ ಕಿಂ ದಾಸ್ಯಥ? ತದಾನೀಂ ತೇ ತಸ್ಮೈ ತ್ರಿಂಶನ್ಮುದ್ರಾ ದಾತುಂ ಸ್ಥಿರೀಕೃತವನ್ತಃ|
16 From that time Judas watched for an opportunity to enable them to seize [Jesus].
ಸ ತದಾರಭ್ಯ ತಂ ಪರಕರೇಷು ಸಮರ್ಪಯಿತುಂ ಸುಯೋಗಂ ಚೇಷ್ಟಿತವಾನ್|
17 On the first day [of the week-long festival] (when [we Jews ate] bread which had no yeast in it/of Unleavened Bread), [we] disciples went to Jesus and asked, “Where do you want us to prepare [the meal for] the Passover [celebration] so that [we can] eat [it with] you?”
ಅನನ್ತರಂ ಕಿಣ್ವಶೂನ್ಯಪೂಪಪರ್ವ್ವಣಃ ಪ್ರಥಮೇಹ್ನಿ ಶಿಷ್ಯಾ ಯೀಶುಮ್ ಉಪಗತ್ಯ ಪಪ್ರಚ್ಛುಃ ಭವತ್ಕೃತೇ ಕುತ್ರ ವಯಂ ನಿಸ್ತಾರಮಹಭೋಜ್ಯಮ್ ಆಯೋಜಯಿಷ್ಯಾಮಃ? ಭವತಃ ಕೇಚ್ಛಾ?
18 [In reply], he [gave instructions to two disciples about where they should go. He] said [to them], “Go into [the city] to a man [with whom I have previously arranged this]. Tell him that the teacher says, ‘The time [MTY] [that I told you about] is near. I am going to celebrate the Passover [meal] with my disciples at your house, [and I have sent these two to prepare the meal].’”
ತದಾ ಸ ಗದಿತವಾನ್, ಮಧ್ಯೇನಗರಮಮುಕಪುಂಸಃ ಸಮೀಪಂ ವ್ರಜಿತ್ವಾ ವದತ, ಗುರು ರ್ಗದಿತವಾನ್, ಮತ್ಕಾಲಃ ಸವಿಧಃ, ಸಹ ಶಿಷ್ಯೈಸ್ತ್ವದಾಲಯೇ ನಿಸ್ತಾರಮಹಭೋಜ್ಯಂ ಭೋಕ್ಷ್ಯೇ|
19 So the [two] disciples did as Jesus told them. They [went and] prepared the Passover [meal in that man’s house].
ತದಾ ಶಿಷ್ಯಾ ಯೀಶೋಸ್ತಾದೃಶನಿದೇಶಾನುರೂಪಕರ್ಮ್ಮ ವಿಧಾಯ ತತ್ರ ನಿಸ್ತಾರಮಹಭೋಜ್ಯಮಾಸಾದಯಾಮಾಸುಃ|
20 When it was evening, Jesus was eating the meal with [us] twelve disciples.
ತತಃ ಸನ್ಧ್ಯಾಯಾಂ ಸತ್ಯಾಂ ದ್ವಾದಶಭಿಃ ಶಿಷ್ಯೈಃ ಸಾಕಂ ಸ ನ್ಯವಿಶತ್|
21 While we were eating, he said [to us], “Listen carefully to this: One of you is going to enable [my enemies] to seize me.”
ಅಪರಂ ಭುಞ್ಜಾನ ಉಕ್ತವಾನ್ ಯುಷ್ಮಾನ್ ತಥ್ಯಂ ವದಾಮಿ, ಯುಷ್ಮಾಕಮೇಕೋ ಮಾಂ ಪರಕರೇಷು ಸಮರ್ಪಯಿಷ್ಯತಿ|
22 [We] were very sad. We began to say to him, one after the other, “Lord, (it is surely not I!/I’m not the one, am I?) [RHQ]”
ತದಾ ತೇಽತೀವ ದುಃಖಿತಾ ಏಕೈಕಶೋ ವಕ್ತುಮಾರೇಭಿರೇ, ಹೇ ಪ್ರಭೋ, ಸ ಕಿಮಹಂ?
23 He replied, “The one who will enable my enemies to seize me is one of you who is dipping bread [MTY] into [the sauce in] the dish along with me.
ತತಃ ಸ ಜಗಾದ, ಮಯಾ ಸಾಕಂ ಯೋ ಜನೋ ಭೋಜನಪಾತ್ರೇ ಕರಂ ಸಂಕ್ಷಿಪತಿ, ಸ ಏವ ಮಾಂ ಪರಕರೇಷು ಸಮರ್ಪಯಿಷ್ಯತಿ|
24 [It is certain that] I, the one who came from heaven, will [die], because that is what has been written {[the prophets] have written} about me. But there will be terrible punishment for the man who enables [my enemies] to seize me! It would be better for that man if he had never been born!”
ಮನುಜಸುತಮಧಿ ಯಾದೃಶಂ ಲಿಖಿತಮಾಸ್ತೇ, ತದನುರೂಪಾ ತದ್ಗತಿ ರ್ಭವಿಷ್ಯತಿ; ಕಿನ್ತು ಯೇನ ಪುಂಸಾ ಸ ಪರಕರೇಷು ಸಮರ್ಪಯಿಷ್ಯತೇ, ಹಾ ಹಾ ಚೇತ್ ಸ ನಾಜನಿಷ್ಯತ, ತದಾ ತಸ್ಯ ಕ್ಷೇಮಮಭವಿಷ್ಯತ್|
25 Then Judas, the one who was going to betray him, said, “Teacher, (surely it is not I!/I’m not the one, am I?) [RHQ]” Jesus replied, “Yes, you are the one.”
ತದಾ ಯಿಹೂದಾನಾಮಾ ಯೋ ಜನಸ್ತಂ ಪರಕರೇಷು ಸಮರ್ಪಯಿಷ್ಯತಿ, ಸ ಉಕ್ತವಾನ್, ಹೇ ಗುರೋ, ಸ ಕಿಮಹಂ? ತತಃ ಸ ಪ್ರತ್ಯುಕ್ತವಾನ್, ತ್ವಯಾ ಸತ್ಯಂ ಗದಿತಮ್|
26 While we were eating, Jesus took [a small loaf of] bread and thanked God for it. He broke it [into pieces] and gave it to [us] disciples, and said, “Take this [bread and] eat [it]. [It represents] my body.”
ಅನನ್ತರಂ ತೇಷಾಮಶನಕಾಲೇ ಯೀಶುಃ ಪೂಪಮಾದಾಯೇಶ್ವರೀಯಗುಣಾನನೂದ್ಯ ಭಂಕ್ತ್ವಾ ಶಿಷ್ಯೇಭ್ಯಃ ಪ್ರದಾಯ ಜಗಾದ, ಮದ್ವಪುಃಸ್ವರೂಪಮಿಮಂ ಗೃಹೀತ್ವಾ ಖಾದತ|
27 Later he took a cup [of wine] and thanked [God for it]. Then he gave it to us, saying, “Drink some [of the wine in this cup], all of you.
ಪಶ್ಚಾತ್ ಸ ಕಂಸಂ ಗೃಹ್ಲನ್ ಈಶ್ವರೀಯಗುಣಾನನೂದ್ಯ ತೇಭ್ಯಃ ಪ್ರದಾಯ ಕಥಿತವಾನ್, ಸರ್ವ್ವೈ ರ್ಯುಷ್ಮಾಭಿರನೇನ ಪಾತವ್ಯಂ,
28 [The wine in] this cup [represents] my blood, which will soon flow [from my body. With] my blood I [will sign] the new agreement [that God is making] to forgive the sins of many [people].
ಯಸ್ಮಾದನೇಕೇಷಾಂ ಪಾಪಮರ್ಷಣಾಯ ಪಾತಿತಂ ಯನ್ಮನ್ನೂತ್ನನಿಯಮರೂಪಶೋಣಿತಂ ತದೇತತ್|
29 Note this carefully: I will not drink wine in this way any more until the time when I drink it with you with a new [meaning. That will happen] when my Father [enables me to begin] to rule as king.”
ಅಪರಮಹಂ ನೂತ್ನಗೋಸ್ತನೀರಸಂ ನ ಪಾಸ್ಯಾಮಿ, ತಾವತ್ ಗೋಸ್ತನೀಫಲರಸಂ ಪುನಃ ಕದಾಪಿ ನ ಪಾಸ್ಯಾಮಿ|
30 After we sang a hymn, we started out towards Olive [Tree] Hill.
ಪಶ್ಚಾತ್ ತೇ ಗೀತಮೇಕಂ ಸಂಗೀಯ ಜೈತುನಾಖ್ಯಗಿರಿಂ ಗತವನ್ತಃ|
31 [On the way], Jesus told us, “This night all of you will desert me because of [what will happen to] me! [This is certain to happen] because [these words that God said] are written [in the Scriptures: ] ‘I will [cause] the shepherd to be killed, and [all] the sheep will be scattered {scatter}.’
ತದಾನೀಂ ಯೀಶುಸ್ತಾನವೋಚತ್, ಅಸ್ಯಾಂ ರಜನ್ಯಾಮಹಂ ಯುಷ್ಮಾಕಂ ಸರ್ವ್ವೇಷಾಂ ವಿಘ್ನರೂಪೋ ಭವಿಷ್ಯಾಮಿ, ಯತೋ ಲಿಖಿತಮಾಸ್ತೇ, "ಮೇಷಾಣಾಂ ರಕ್ಷಕೋ ಯಸ್ತಂ ಪ್ರಹರಿಷ್ಯಾಮ್ಯಹಂ ತತಃ| ಮೇಷಾಣಾಂ ನಿವಹೋ ನೂನಂ ಪ್ರವಿಕೀರ್ಣೋ ಭವಿಷ್ಯತಿ"||
32 But after I have [died and] become alive again, I will go ahead of you to Galilee [district and meet you there].”
ಕಿನ್ತು ಶ್ಮಶಾನಾತ್ ಸಮುತ್ಥಾಯ ಯುಷ್ಮಾಕಮಗ್ರೇಽಹಂ ಗಾಲೀಲಂ ಗಮಿಷ್ಯಾಮಿ|
33 Peter replied, “Perhaps all [the other disciples] will desert you [when they see what happens to you], but I [certainly] will never [leave you]!”
ಪಿತರಸ್ತಂ ಪ್ರೋವಾಚ, ಭವಾಂಶ್ಚೇತ್ ಸರ್ವ್ವೇಷಾಂ ವಿಘ್ನರೂಪೋ ಭವತಿ, ತಥಾಪಿ ಮಮ ನ ಭವಿಷ್ಯತಿ|
34 Jesus replied to him, “The truth is that this very night, before the rooster crows, you will say three times that you do not know me!”
ತತೋ ಯೀಶುನಾ ಸ ಉಕ್ತಃ, ತುಭ್ಯಮಹಂ ತಥ್ಯಂ ಕಥಯಾಮಿ, ಯಾಮಿನ್ಯಾಮಸ್ಯಾಂ ಚರಣಾಯುಧಸ್ಯ ರವಾತ್ ಪೂರ್ವ್ವಂ ತ್ವಂ ಮಾಂ ತ್ರಿ ರ್ನಾಙ್ಗೀಕರಿಷ್ಯಸಿ|
35 Peter said to him, “Even if they kill me [while I am defending you], I will never say that I do not know you!” All [the rest of us] disciples also said the same [thing].
ತತಃ ಪಿತರ ಉದಿತವಾನ್, ಯದ್ಯಪಿ ತ್ವಯಾ ಸಮಂ ಮರ್ತ್ತವ್ಯಂ, ತಥಾಪಿ ಕದಾಪಿ ತ್ವಾಂ ನ ನಾಙ್ಗೀಕರಿಷ್ಯಾಮಿ; ತಥೈವ ಸರ್ವ್ವೇ ಶಿಷ್ಯಾಶ್ಚೋಚುಃ|
36 Then Jesus went with us to a place that is called {that people call} Gethsemane. There he said to [most of] us, “Stay here while I go over there and pray.”
ಅನನ್ತರಂ ಯೀಶುಃ ಶಿಷ್ಯೈಃ ಸಾಕಂ ಗೇತ್ಶಿಮಾನೀನಾಮಕಂ ಸ್ಥಾನಂ ಪ್ರಸ್ಥಾಯ ತೇಭ್ಯಃ ಕಥಿತವಾನ್, ಅದಃ ಸ್ಥಾನಂ ಗತ್ವಾ ಯಾವದಹಂ ಪ್ರಾರ್ಥಯಿಷ್ಯೇ ತಾವದ್ ಯೂಯಮತ್ರೋಪವಿಶತ|
37 He took Peter, James, and John with him. He became extremely distressed.
ಪಶ್ಚಾತ್ ಸ ಪಿತರಂ ಸಿವದಿಯಸುತೌ ಚ ಸಙ್ಗಿನಃ ಕೃತ್ವಾ ಗತವಾನ್, ಶೋಕಾಕುಲೋಽತೀವ ವ್ಯಥಿತಶ್ಚ ಬಭೂವ|
38 Then he said to them, “I [SYN] am very sorrowful, so much so that I [feel as if I were] about to die! Remain here and stay awake with me!”
ತಾನವಾದೀಚ್ಚ ಮೃತಿಯಾತನೇವ ಮತ್ಪ್ರಾಣಾನಾಂ ಯಾತನಾ ಜಾಯತೇ, ಯೂಯಮತ್ರ ಮಯಾ ಸಾರ್ದ್ಧಂ ಜಾಗೃತ|
39 After going a little further, he threw himself face down [on the ground]. He prayed, “My Father, if it is possible [MTY], do not make me have to endure the suffering [that is coming] now. But do not do as I want. Instead, do as you want!”
ತತಃ ಸ ಕಿಞ್ಚಿದ್ದೂರಂ ಗತ್ವಾಧೋಮುಖಃ ಪತನ್ ಪ್ರಾರ್ಥಯಾಞ್ಚಕ್ರೇ, ಹೇ ಮತ್ಪಿತರ್ಯದಿ ಭವಿತುಂ ಶಕ್ನೋತಿ, ತರ್ಹಿ ಕಂಸೋಽಯಂ ಮತ್ತೋ ದೂರಂ ಯಾತು; ಕಿನ್ತು ಮದಿಚ್ಛಾವತ್ ನ ಭವತು, ತ್ವದಿಚ್ಛಾವದ್ ಭವತು|
40 Then he returned to the [three] disciples and saw that they were sleeping. He [woke] Peter and said to him, “(I am disappointed that you [men fell asleep and] were not able to stay awake with me for just a short time!/Why were you men not able to stay awake with me for just one hour?) [RHQ]
ತತಃ ಸ ಶಿಷ್ಯಾನುಪೇತ್ಯ ತಾನ್ ನಿದ್ರತೋ ನಿರೀಕ್ಷ್ಯ ಪಿತರಾಯ ಕಥಯಾಮಾಸ, ಯೂಯಂ ಮಯಾ ಸಾಕಂ ದಣ್ಡಮೇಕಮಪಿ ಜಾಗರಿತುಂ ನಾಶನ್ಕುತ?
41 You must keep alert and pray so that you can resist when you are tempted {something tempts you}. You want [to do what I tell you], but you [SYN] are not strong enough [to actually do it].”
ಪರೀಕ್ಷಾಯಾಂ ನ ಪತಿತುಂ ಜಾಗೃತ ಪ್ರಾರ್ಥಯಧ್ವಞ್ಚ; ಆತ್ಮಾ ಸಮುದ್ಯತೋಸ್ತಿ, ಕಿನ್ತು ವಪು ರ್ದುರ್ಬ್ಬಲಂ|
42 He went away a second time. He prayed, “My Father, if it is necessary for me to suffer [LIT], may what you want happen!”
ಸ ದ್ವಿತೀಯವಾರಂ ಪ್ರಾರ್ಥಯಾಞ್ಚಕ್ರೇ, ಹೇ ಮತ್ತಾತ, ನ ಪೀತೇ ಯದಿ ಕಂಸಮಿದಂ ಮತ್ತೋ ದೂರಂ ಯಾತುಂ ನ ಶಕ್ನೋತಿ, ತರ್ಹಿ ತ್ವದಿಚ್ಛಾವದ್ ಭವತು|
43 When he returned to the [three disciples], he saw that they were asleep [again]. They could not keep their eyes open [IDM].
ಸ ಪುನರೇತ್ಯ ತಾನ್ ನಿದ್ರತೋ ದದರ್ಶ, ಯತಸ್ತೇಷಾಂ ನೇತ್ರಾಣಿ ನಿದ್ರಯಾ ಪೂರ್ಣಾನ್ಯಾಸನ್|
44 So he left them and went away again. He prayed the third time, saying the same thing [that he had prayed before].
ಪಶ್ಚಾತ್ ಸ ತಾನ್ ವಿಹಾಯ ವ್ರಜಿತ್ವಾ ತೃತೀಯವಾರಂ ಪೂರ್ವ್ವವತ್ ಕಥಯನ್ ಪ್ರಾರ್ಥಿತವಾನ್|
45 Then he returned to us disciples. He [woke] us [up and] said to us, “(I am disappointed that you are still sleeping and resting!/Why are you still sleeping and resting?) [RHQ] [Look] Someone is about to enable sinful [men] to seize [me], the one who came from heaven!
ತತಃ ಶಿಷ್ಯಾನುಪಾಗತ್ಯ ಗದಿತವಾನ್, ಸಾಮ್ಪ್ರತಂ ಶಯಾನಾಃ ಕಿಂ ವಿಶ್ರಾಮ್ಯಥ? ಪಶ್ಯತ, ಸಮಯ ಉಪಾಸ್ಥಾತ್, ಮನುಜಸುತಃ ಪಾಪಿನಾಂ ಕರೇಷು ಸಮರ್ಪ್ಯತೇ|
46 Get up! Let’s go [to meet them] Here comes the one who is enabling them to seize me!”
ಉತ್ತಿಷ್ಠತ, ವಯಂ ಯಾಮಃ, ಯೋ ಮಾಂ ಪರಕರೇಷು ಮಸರ್ಪಯಿಷ್ಯತಿ, ಪಶ್ಯತ, ಸ ಸಮೀಪಮಾಯಾತಿ|
47 While [Jesus] was still speaking, Judas [arrived. Even though he was] one of [us] twelve [disciples], he came [to enable Jesus’ enemies to seize him]. A large crowd carrying swords and clubs was with him. They had been sent by the chief priests and elders {the chief priests and [Jewish] elders had sent them}.
ಏತತ್ಕಥಾಕಥನಕಾಲೇ ದ್ವಾದಶಶಿಷ್ಯಾಣಾಮೇಕೋ ಯಿಹೂದಾನಾಮಕೋ ಮುಖ್ಯಯಾಜಕಲೋಕಪ್ರಾಚೀನೈಃ ಪ್ರಹಿತಾನ್ ಅಸಿಧಾರಿಯಷ್ಟಿಧಾರಿಣೋ ಮನುಜಾನ್ ಗೃಹೀತ್ವಾ ತತ್ಸಮೀಪಮುಪತಸ್ಥೌ|
48 Judas had [previously] arranged to give them a signal, saying, “The man whom I will kiss is the one [you want]. Seize him!”
ಅಸೌ ಪರಕರೇಷ್ವರ್ಪಯಿತಾ ಪೂರ್ವ್ವಂ ತಾನ್ ಇತ್ಥಂ ಸಙ್ಕೇತಯಾಮಾಸ, ಯಮಹಂ ಚುಮ್ಬಿಷ್ಯೇ, ಸೋಽಸೌ ಮನುಜಃ, ಸಏವ ಯುಷ್ಮಾಭಿ ರ್ಧಾರ್ಯ್ಯತಾಂ|
49 He immediately went to Jesus and said, “Greetings, Teacher!” Then he kissed Jesus [on the neck/cheek].
ತದಾ ಸ ಸಪದಿ ಯೀಶುಮುಪಾಗತ್ಯ ಹೇ ಗುರೋ, ಪ್ರಣಮಾಮೀತ್ಯುಕ್ತ್ವಾ ತಂ ಚುಚುಮ್ಬೇ|
50 Jesus replied, “Friend, is it [to kiss me] that you are here?” (OR, “Do what you have come for!”) Then [the men who came with Judas] stepped forward and seized Jesus.
ತದಾ ಯೀಶುಸ್ತಮುವಾಚ, ಹೇ ಮಿತ್ರಂ ಕಿಮರ್ಥಮಾಗತೋಸಿ? ತದಾ ತೈರಾಗತ್ಯ ಯೀಶುರಾಕ್ರಮ್ಯ ದಘ್ರೇ|
51 Suddenly, one of the men who was with Jesus pulled his sword out [of its sheath]. He struck the servant of the high priest [to kill him], [but only] cut off his ear.
ತತೋ ಯೀಶೋಃ ಸಙ್ಗಿನಾಮೇಕಃ ಕರಂ ಪ್ರಸಾರ್ಯ್ಯ ಕೋಷಾದಸಿಂ ಬಹಿಷ್ಕೃತ್ಯ ಮಹಾಯಾಜಕಸ್ಯ ದಾಸಮೇಕಮಾಹತ್ಯ ತಸ್ಯ ಕರ್ಣಂ ಚಿಚ್ಛೇದ|
52 Jesus said to him, “Put your sword back in its sheath! All those who try to kill others with a sword will themselves be killed with a sword!
ತತೋ ಯೀಶುಸ್ತಂ ಜಗಾದ, ಖಡ್ಗಂ ಸ್ವಸ್ಥಾನೇ ನಿಧೇಹಿ ಯತೋ ಯೇ ಯೇ ಜನಾ ಅಸಿಂ ಧಾರಯನ್ತಿ, ತಏವಾಸಿನಾ ವಿನಶ್ಯನ್ತಿ|
53 Do you think that [RHQ] if I asked my Father, he would not immediately send more than (twelve armies of/72,000) angels to help me?
ಅಪರಂ ಪಿತಾ ಯಥಾ ಮದನ್ತಿಕಂ ಸ್ವರ್ಗೀಯದೂತಾನಾಂ ದ್ವಾದಶವಾಹಿನೀತೋಽಧಿಕಂ ಪ್ರಹಿಣುಯಾತ್ ಮಯಾ ತಮುದ್ದಿಶ್ಯೇದಾನೀಮೇವ ತಥಾ ಪ್ರಾರ್ಥಯಿತುಂ ನ ಶಕ್ಯತೇ, ತ್ವಯಾ ಕಿಮಿತ್ಥಂ ಜ್ಞಾಯತೇ?
54 [But if I did that, what the prophets] have written in the Scriptures [about what will happen to the Messiah] would not be fulfilled {happen} [RHQ].”
ತಥಾ ಸತೀತ್ಥಂ ಘಟಿಷ್ಯತೇ ಧರ್ಮ್ಮಪುಸ್ತಕಸ್ಯ ಯದಿದಂ ವಾಕ್ಯಂ ತತ್ ಕಥಂ ಸಿಧ್ಯೇತ್?
55 At that time Jesus said to the crowd [that was seizing him], “(It is ridiculous that you have come [here] to seize me with swords and clubs, as [if I were] a bandit!/Have you come here to seize me with swords and clubs, as if I were a bandit?) [RHQ] Day after day I sat in the Temple [courtyard], teaching [the people]. Why did you not arrest me [then]?
ತದಾನೀಂ ಯೀಶು ರ್ಜನನಿವಹಂ ಜಗಾದ, ಯೂಯಂ ಖಡ್ಗಯಷ್ಟೀನ್ ಆದಾಯ ಮಾಂ ಕಿಂ ಚೌರಂ ಧರ್ತ್ತುಮಾಯಾತಾಃ? ಅಹಂ ಪ್ರತ್ಯಹಂ ಯುಷ್ಮಾಭಿಃ ಸಾಕಮುಪವಿಶ್ಯ ಸಮುಪಾದಿಶಂ, ತದಾ ಮಾಂ ನಾಧರತ;
56 But all this is happening to fulfill what the prophets [have written in] the Scriptures [about me].” Then all of us disciples deserted Jesus and ran away.
ಕಿನ್ತು ಭವಿಷ್ಯದ್ವಾದಿನಾಂ ವಾಕ್ಯಾನಾಂ ಸಂಸಿದ್ಧಯೇ ಸರ್ವ್ವಮೇತದಭೂತ್| ತದಾ ಸರ್ವ್ವೇ ಶಿಷ್ಯಾಸ್ತಂ ವಿಹಾಯ ಪಲಾಯನ್ತ|
57 The men who had seized Jesus took him [to the house where] Caiaphas, the high priest, [lived]. The men who taught the [Jewish] laws and the [Jewish] elders had already gathered [there].
ಅನನ್ತರಂ ತೇ ಮನುಜಾ ಯೀಶುಂ ಧೃತ್ವಾ ಯತ್ರಾಧ್ಯಾಪಕಪ್ರಾಞ್ಚಃ ಪರಿಷದಂ ಕುರ್ವ್ವನ್ತ ಉಪಾವಿಶನ್ ತತ್ರ ಕಿಯಫಾನಾಮಕಮಹಾಯಾಜಕಸ್ಯಾನ್ತಿಕಂ ನಿನ್ಯುಃ|
58 Peter followed [Jesus] at a distance. He came to the high priest’s courtyard. He entered [the courtyard] and sat down with the guards to see what would happen.
ಕಿನ್ತು ಶೇಷೇ ಕಿಂ ಭವಿಷ್ಯತೀತಿ ವೇತ್ತುಂ ಪಿತರೋ ದೂರೇ ತತ್ಪಶ್ಚಾದ್ ವ್ರಜಿತ್ವಾ ಮಹಾಯಾಜಕಸ್ಯಾಟ್ಟಾಲಿಕಾಂ ಪ್ರವಿಶ್ಯ ದಾಸೈಃ ಸಹಿತ ಉಪಾವಿಶತ್|
59 The chief priests and the rest of the [Jewish] Council were trying to find people who would tell lies about Jesus so that they could [convince the Roman authorities to] execute him.
ತದಾನೀಂ ಪ್ರಧಾನಯಾಜಕಪ್ರಾಚೀನಮನ್ತ್ರಿಣಃ ಸರ್ವ್ವೇ ಯೀಶುಂ ಹನ್ತುಂ ಮೃಷಾಸಾಕ್ಷ್ಯಮ್ ಅಲಿಪ್ಸನ್ತ,
60 But even though many people spoke lies about him, they did not find anyone [who said anything that was useful]. Finally two men came forward
ಕಿನ್ತು ನ ಲೇಭಿರೇ| ಅನೇಕೇಷು ಮೃಷಾಸಾಕ್ಷಿಷ್ವಾಗತೇಷ್ವಪಿ ತನ್ನ ಪ್ರಾಪುಃ|
61 and said, “This man said, ‘I am able to destroy God’s Temple and to rebuild it within three days.’”
ಶೇಷೇ ದ್ವೌ ಮೃಷಾಸಾಕ್ಷಿಣಾವಾಗತ್ಯ ಜಗದತುಃ, ಪುಮಾನಯಮಕಥಯತ್, ಅಹಮೀಶ್ವರಮನ್ದಿರಂ ಭಂಕ್ತ್ವಾ ದಿನತ್ರಯಮಧ್ಯೇ ತನ್ನಿರ್ಮ್ಮಾತುಂ ಶಕ್ನೋಮಿ|
62 Then the high priest stood up and said to Jesus, “Are you not going to reply? What [do you say about] these things that they are saying [to accuse] you?”
ತದಾ ಮಹಾಯಾಜಕ ಉತ್ಥಾಯ ಯೀಶುಮ್ ಅವಾದೀತ್| ತ್ವಂ ಕಿಮಪಿ ನ ಪ್ರತಿವದಸಿ? ತ್ವಾಮಧಿ ಕಿಮೇತೇ ಸಾಕ್ಷ್ಯಂ ವದನ್ತಿ?
63 But Jesus remained silent. Then the high priest said to him, “I command you to tell us [the truth], knowing that the all-powerful God [is listening to you]: Are you the Messiah, (the Son of God/the man who is also God)?”
ಕಿನ್ತು ಯೀಶು ರ್ಮೌನೀಭೂಯ ತಸ್ಯೌ| ತತೋ ಮಹಾಯಾಜಕ ಉಕ್ತವಾನ್, ತ್ವಾಮ್ ಅಮರೇಶ್ವರನಾಮ್ನಾ ಶಪಯಾಮಿ, ತ್ವಮೀಶ್ವರಸ್ಯ ಪುತ್ರೋಽಭಿಷಿಕ್ತೋ ಭವಸಿ ನವೇತಿ ವದ|
64 Jesus replied, “Yes, [it is as] you say. But I will also say this to all of you: Some day you will see [me], the one who came from heaven, sitting beside [MTY] Almighty [God], and ruling. You will also see me coming on the clouds [from] heaven!”
ಯೀಶುಃ ಪ್ರತ್ಯವದತ್, ತ್ವಂ ಸತ್ಯಮುಕ್ತವಾನ್; ಅಹಂ ಯುಷ್ಮಾನ್ ತಥ್ಯಂ ವದಾಮಿ, ಇತಃಪರಂ ಮನುಜಸುತಂ ಸರ್ವ್ವಶಕ್ತಿಮತೋ ದಕ್ಷಿಣಪಾರ್ಶ್ವೇ ಸ್ಥಾತುಂ ಗಗಣಸ್ಥಂ ಜಲಧರಾನಾರುಹ್ಯಾಯಾನ್ತಂ ವೀಕ್ಷಧ್ವೇ|
65 Then the high priest tore his outer garment. [That was the custom to show that he was shocked to hear Jesus say that he was equal to God]. Then he said, “This man has insulted God! He claims to be equal with God! (We certainly do not need anyone else to testify [against this man]!/Why should we seek any more people who will testify [against this man]?) [RHQ] You heard what he said!
ತದಾ ಮಹಾಯಾಜಕೋ ನಿಜವಸನಂ ಛಿತ್ತ್ವಾ ಜಗಾದ, ಏಷ ಈಶ್ವರಂ ನಿನ್ದಿತವಾನ್, ಅಸ್ಮಾಕಮಪರಸಾಕ್ಷ್ಯೇಣ ಕಿಂ ಪ್ರಯೋಜನಂ? ಪಶ್ಯತ, ಯೂಯಮೇವಾಸ್ಯಾಸ್ಯಾದ್ ಈಶ್ವರನಿನ್ದಾಂ ಶ್ರುತವನ್ತಃ,
66 What have you decided?” [The Jewish leaders] replied, “[According to our laws], he [is guilty and] deserves to be executed!”
ಯುಷ್ಮಾಭಿಃ ಕಿಂ ವಿವಿಚ್ಯತೇ? ತೇ ಪ್ರತ್ಯೂಚುಃ, ವಧಾರ್ಹೋಽಯಂ|
67 Then [some of them] spat in his face. [Others] struck him with their fists. Others, [after they blindfolded him], slapped him
ತತೋ ಲೋಕೈಸ್ತದಾಸ್ಯೇ ನಿಷ್ಠೀವಿತಂ ಕೇಚಿತ್ ಪ್ರತಲಮಾಹತ್ಯ ಕೇಚಿಚ್ಚ ಚಪೇಟಮಾಹತ್ಯ ಬಭಾಷಿರೇ,
68 and said, “[Since you claim that] [IRO] [you are] the Messiah, tell us who hit you!”
ಹೇ ಖ್ರೀಷ್ಟ ತ್ವಾಂ ಕಶ್ಚಪೇಟಮಾಹತವಾನ್? ಇತಿ ಗಣಯಿತ್ವಾ ವದಾಸ್ಮಾನ್|
69 Peter was sitting outside in the courtyard. A servant girl came up to him [and looked at him]. She said, “You also were with Jesus, [that man] from Galilee [district]!”
ಪಿತರೋ ಬಹಿರಙ್ಗನ ಉಪವಿಶತಿ, ತದಾನೀಮೇಕಾ ದಾಸೀ ತಮುಪಾಗತ್ಯ ಬಭಾಷೇ, ತ್ವಂ ಗಾಲೀಲೀಯಯೀಶೋಃ ಸಹಚರಏಕಃ|
70 But while everyone there was listening, he denied it. He said, “I do not know what you are talking about!”
ಕಿನ್ತು ಸ ಸರ್ವ್ವೇಷಾಂ ಸಮಕ್ಷಮ್ ಅನಙ್ಗೀಕೃತ್ಯಾವಾದೀತ್, ತ್ವಯಾ ಯದುಚ್ಯತೇ, ತದರ್ಥಮಹಂ ನ ವೇದ್ಮಿ|
71 Then he went out to the gateway of the courtyard. Another servant girl saw him and said to the people who were standing nearby, “This man was with Jesus, [the man] from Nazareth.”
ತದಾ ತಸ್ಮಿನ್ ಬಹಿರ್ದ್ವಾರಂ ಗತೇ ಽನ್ಯಾ ದಾಸೀ ತಂ ನಿರೀಕ್ಷ್ಯ ತತ್ರತ್ಯಜನಾನವದತ್, ಅಯಮಪಿ ನಾಸರತೀಯಯೀಶುನಾ ಸಾರ್ದ್ಧಮ್ ಆಸೀತ್|
72 But [Peter] again denied it. He said, “May God punish me [if I am lying]! I [tell you], I do not even know that man!”
ತತಃ ಸ ಶಪಥೇನ ಪುನರನಙ್ಗೀಕೃತ್ಯ ಕಥಿತವಾನ್, ತಂ ನರಂ ನ ಪರಿಚಿನೋಮಿ|
73 After a little while, one of the people who were standing there approached Peter and said to him, “It is certain that you are one of those [who were with that man]. We can tell from your accent that you [are from Galilee.”]
ಕ್ಷಣಾತ್ ಪರಂ ತಿಷ್ಠನ್ತೋ ಜನಾ ಏತ್ಯ ಪಿತರಮ್ ಅವದನ್, ತ್ವಮವಶ್ಯಂ ತೇಷಾಮೇಕ ಇತಿ ತ್ವದುಚ್ಚಾರಣಮೇವ ದ್ಯೋತಯತಿ|
74 Then Peter began to proclaim loudly that God should curse him [if he was lying]. He asked God in heaven to witness [that he was telling the truth] and said, “I do not know that man!” Immediately a rooster crowed.
ಕಿನ್ತು ಸೋಽಭಿಶಪ್ಯ ಕಥಿತವಾನ್, ತಂ ಜನಂ ನಾಹಂ ಪರಿಚಿನೋಮಿ, ತದಾ ಸಪದಿ ಕುಕ್ಕುಟೋ ರುರಾವ|
75 Then Peter remembered the words that Jesus had spoken [to him], “Before the rooster crows, you will say three times that you do not know me.” And Peter went [out of the courtyard], crying because he was very sad [about what he had done].
ಕುಕ್ಕುಟರವಾತ್ ಪ್ರಾಕ್ ತ್ವಂ ಮಾಂ ತ್ರಿರಪಾಹ್ನೋಷ್ಯಸೇ, ಯೈಷಾ ವಾಗ್ ಯೀಶುನಾವಾದಿ ತಾಂ ಪಿತರಃ ಸಂಸ್ಮೃತ್ಯ ಬಹಿರಿತ್ವಾ ಖೇದಾದ್ ಭೃಶಂ ಚಕ್ರನ್ದ|
