Luke 9
1 [One day] Jesus summoned his twelve [apostles], and gave them power to expel all [kinds of] demons and to heal [people with] diseases. He gave them authority to do that.
தத: பரம்’ ஸ த்³வாத³ஸ²ஸி²ஷ்யாநாஹூய பூ⁴தாந் த்யாஜயிதும்’ ரோகா³ந் ப்ரதிகர்த்துஞ்ச தேப்⁴ய: ஸ²க்திமாதி⁴பத்யஞ்ச த³தௌ³|
2 [Before] he sent them out to heal people and to tell people [what it meant to let] God (rule/have complete control [over]) [their lives],
அபரஞ்ச ஈஸ்²வரீயராஜ்யஸ்ய ஸுஸம்’வாத³ம்’ ப்ரகாஸ²யிதும் ரோகி³ணாமாரோக்³யம்’ கர்த்துஞ்ச ப்ரேரணகாலே தாந் ஜகா³த³|
3 he said to them, “Do not take things for your journey. Do not take a walking stick or a [traveler’s] bag or food or money. Do not take (an extra shirt/extra clothes).
யாத்ரார்த²ம்’ யஷ்டி ர்வஸ்த்ரபுடகம்’ ப⁴க்ஷ்யம்’ முத்³ரா த்³விதீயவஸ்த்ரம், ஏஷாம்’ கிமபி மா க்³ரு’ஹ்லீத|
4 Whenever you enter some house [to lodge there], stay in that house until you leave that town.
யூயஞ்ச யந்நிவேஸ²நம்’ ப்ரவிஸ²த² நக³ரத்யாக³பர்ய்யநதம்’ தந்நிவேஸ²நே திஷ்ட²த|
5 [In towns] where the people do not welcome you, [you should not continue to stay there. Just] leave those towns. And as you leave, shake off the dust from your feet. [Do that to] warn them [that God will punish them for rejecting your message].”
தத்ர யதி³ கஸ்யசித் புரஸ்ய லோகா யுஷ்மாகமாதித்²யம்’ ந குர்வ்வந்தி தர்ஹி தஸ்மாந்நக³ராத்³ க³மநகாலே தேஷாம்’ விருத்³த⁴ம்’ ஸாக்ஷ்யார்த²ம்’ யுஷ்மாகம்’ பத³தூ⁴லீ: ஸம்பாதயத|
6 Then they left and traveled through many villages. Everywhere [they went], they told people God’s good message and healed sick people.
அத² தே ப்ரஸ்தா²ய ஸர்வ்வத்ர ஸுஸம்’வாத³ம்’ ப்ரசாரயிதும்’ பீடி³தாந் ஸ்வஸ்தா²ந் கர்த்துஞ்ச க்³ராமேஷு ப்⁴ரமிதும்’ ப்ராரேபி⁴ரே|
7 Herod [Antipas], the ruler of [that] district, heard about the things that [Jesus and his disciples] were doing. [He had previously commanded his soldiers to execute John the Baptizer, so now] he was perplexed, because some people were saying that John had become alive again [and was doing those miracles].
ஏதர்ஹி ஹேரோத்³ ராஜா யீஸோ²: ஸர்வ்வகர்ம்மணாம்’ வார்த்தாம்’ ஸ்²ருத்வா ப்⁴ரு’ஸ²முத்³விவிஜே
8 Others were saying that [the prophet] Elijah had appeared [again as had been prophesied]. Others were saying that one of the [other] former prophets had become alive again [and was doing those miracles].
யத: கேசிதூ³சுர்யோஹந் ஸ்²மஸா²நாது³த³திஷ்ட²த்| கேசிதூ³சு: , ஏலியோ த³ர்ஸ²நம்’ த³த்தவாந்; ஏவமந்யலோகா ஊசு: பூர்வ்வீய: கஸ்²சித்³ ப⁴விஷ்யத்³வாதீ³ ஸமுத்தி²த: |
9 But Herod said, “[It cannot be John who is doing these things], [because] I [commanded my soldiers to] cut off his head. So who is [this man] that I am hearing these things about?” And he kept wanting to see [Jesus].
கிந்து ஹேரோது³வாச யோஹந: ஸி²ரோ(அ)ஹமசி²நத³ம் இதா³நீம்’ யஸ்யேத்³ரு’க்கர்ம்மணாம்’ வார்த்தாம்’ ப்ராப்நோமி ஸ க: ? அத² ஸ தம்’ த்³ரஷ்டும் ஐச்ச²த்|
10 When the apostles returned [from traveling to various towns], they told Jesus the things that they had done. Then he took them and they went by themselves [by boat] to a town called Bethsaida.
அநந்தரம்’ ப்ரேரிதா: ப்ரத்யாக³த்ய யாநி யாநி கர்ம்மாணி சக்ருஸ்தாநி யீஸ²வே கத²யாமாஸு: தத: ஸ தாந் பை³த்ஸைதா³நாமகநக³ரஸ்ய விஜநம்’ ஸ்தா²நம்’ நீத்வா கு³ப்தம்’ ஜகா³ம|
11 But when the crowds [of people who had been with Jesus] found out about that, they followed him [on land. When they got to where he was], he welcomed them. He taught them about how God is going to some day (rule as king/have complete control [over people’s lives]). He also healed the sick people.
பஸ்²சால் லோகாஸ்தத்³ விதி³த்வா தஸ்ய பஸ்²சாத்³ யயு: ; தத: ஸ தாந் நயந் ஈஸ்²வரீயராஜ்யஸ்ய ப்ரஸங்க³முக்தவாந், யேஷாம்’ சிகித்ஸயா ப்ரயோஜநம் ஆஸீத் தாந் ஸ்வஸ்தா²ந் சகார ச|
12 Late in the afternoon Jesus’ twelve [apostles] came to him and said, “This is a place where nobody lives, so dismiss the people so that they can go to the surrounding villages and other places where they can get some food and find places to stay!”
அபரஞ்ச தி³வாவஸந்நே ஸதி த்³வாத³ஸ²ஸி²ஷ்யா யீஸோ²ரந்திகம் ஏத்ய கத²யாமாஸு: , வயமத்ர ப்ராந்தரஸ்தா²நே திஷ்டா²ம: , ததோ நக³ராணி க்³ராமாணி க³த்வா வாஸஸ்தா²நாநி ப்ராப்ய ப⁴க்ஷ்யத்³ரவ்யாணி க்ரேதும்’ ஜநநிவஹம்’ ப⁴வாந் விஸ்ரு’ஜது|
13 But he said to them, “[No], you [yourselves] give them something to eat!” They replied, “We [(exc)] have only five small loaves and two [cooked] fish. Are you [(sg)] going to [give] us [the money] to go somewhere and buy food for all these people?”
ததா³ ஸ உவாச, யூயமேவ தாந் பே⁴ஜயத்⁴வம்’; ததஸ்தே ப்ரோசுரஸ்மாகம்’ நிகடே கேவலம்’ பஞ்ச பூபா த்³வௌ மத்ஸ்யௌ ச வித்³யந்தே, அதஏவ ஸ்தா²நாந்தரம் இத்வா நிமித்தமேதேஷாம்’ ப⁴க்ஷ்யத்³ரவ்யேஷு ந க்ரீதேஷு ந ப⁴வதி|
14 There were about 5,000 men [there]. He replied to the disciples, “[No], [just] tell the people to sit down. Tell them to sit in groups, with about 50 people in each group.”
தத்ர ப்ராயேண பஞ்சஸஹஸ்ராணி புருஷா ஆஸந்|
15 After they told the people that, they all sat down.
ததா³ ஸ ஸி²ஷ்யாந் ஜகா³த³ பஞ்சாஸ²த் பஞ்சாஸ²ஜ்ஜநை: பம்’க்தீக்ரு’த்ய தாநுபவேஸ²யத, தஸ்மாத் தே தத³நுஸாரேண ஸர்வ்வலோகாநுபவேஸ²யாபாஸு: |
16 Then he took the five small loaves and the two fish. He looked up towards heaven and thanked [God for them]. Then he broke them [into pieces] and gave them to the disciples so that they would distribute them to the crowd.
தத: ஸ தாந் பஞ்ச பூபாந் மீநத்³வயஞ்ச க்³ரு’ஹீத்வா ஸ்வர்க³ம்’ விலோக்யேஸ்²வரகு³ணாந் கீர்த்தயாஞ்சக்ரே ப⁴ங்க்தா ச லோகேப்⁴ய: பரிவேஷணார்த²ம்’ ஸி²ஷ்யேஷு ஸமர்பயாம்ப³பூ⁴வ|
17 All [the people in the crowd] ate until they all had enough to eat. Then [the disciples] collected twelve baskets full of the broken pieces that were left over!
தத: ஸர்வ்வே பு⁴க்த்வா த்ரு’ப்திம்’ க³தா அவஸி²ஷ்டாநாஞ்ச த்³வாத³ஸ² ட³ல்லகாந் ஸம்’ஜக்³ரு’ஹு: |
18 [One day] Jesus was praying in a place where only the disciples were with him. He asked them, “The crowds [of people], who do they say that I [really] am?”
அதை²கதா³ நிர்ஜநே ஸி²ஷ்யை: ஸஹ ப்ரார்த²நாகாலே தாந் பப்ரச்ச², லோகா மாம்’ கம்’ வத³ந்தி?
19 They replied, “[Some people say that you are] John the Baptizer, [who has come back to life again]. Others say that you are [the prophet] Elijah, [who has returned from heaven as God promised]. Others say that you are one of the [other] prophets who lived long ago, who has come back to life again.”
ததஸ்தே ப்ராசு: , த்வாம்’ யோஹந்மஜ்ஜகம்’ வத³ந்தி; கேசித் த்வாம் ஏலியம்’ வத³ந்தி, பூர்வ்வகாலிக: கஸ்²சித்³ ப⁴விஷ்யத்³வாதீ³ ஸ்²மஸா²நாத்³ உத³திஷ்ட²த்³ இத்யபி கேசித்³ வத³ந்தி|
20 He asked them, “What about you [(pl)]? Who do you say that I am?” Peter replied, “You [(sg)] are the Messiah, who [has come from] God.”
ததா³ ஸ உவாச, யூயம்’ மாம்’ கம்’ வத³த²? தத: பிதர உக்தவாந் த்வம் ஈஸ்²வராபி⁴ஷிக்த: புருஷ: |
21 Then Jesus warned them strongly not to tell that to anyone [yet].
ததா³ ஸ தாந் த்³ரு’ட⁴மாதி³தே³ஸ², கதா²மேதாம்’ கஸ்மைசித³பி மா கத²யத|
22 Then he said, “[Even though I am] the one who came from heaven, it is necessary that I suffer very much. It is also necessary that I be rejected by the elders and the chief priests and the men who teach the [Jewish] laws {that the [Jewish] elders and the chief priests and the men who teach the [Jewish] laws will reject me}. It is necessary that I be killed {that [people] will kill me}. Then on the third day [after that], I will become alive again.”
ஸ புநருவாச, மநுஷ்யபுத்ரேண வஹுயாதநா போ⁴க்தவ்யா: ப்ராசீநலோகை: ப்ரதா⁴நயாஜகைரத்⁴யாபகைஸ்²ச ஸோவஜ்ஞாய ஹந்தவ்ய: கிந்து த்ரு’தீயதி³வஸே ஸ்²மஸா²நாத் தேநோத்தா²தவ்யம்|
23 Then he said to all of them, “If any one [of you] wants to be my disciple, you must not do [only] what you yourself desire [to do]. [Specifically], you must be willing each day [MET] [to let others hurt you and disgrace you. That is like what is done to criminals who are forced] to carry [MET] crosses [to the place where they will be executed]. [That is what anyone who wants to] be my disciple [must do].
அபரம்’ ஸ ஸர்வ்வாநுவாச, கஸ்²சித்³ யதி³ மம பஸ்²சாத்³ க³ந்தும்’ வாஞ்ச²தி தர்ஹி ஸ ஸ்வம்’ தா³ம்யது, தி³நே தி³நே க்ருஸ²ம்’ க்³ரு’ஹீத்வா ச மம பஸ்²சாதா³க³ச்ச²து|
24 You must do that, because those who try to save their lives [by denying that they belong to me when people want to kill them for believing in me] will not live [eternally], but those who are killed because of being my [disciples] will live [forever with me].
யதோ ய: கஸ்²சித் ஸ்வப்ராணாந் ரிரக்ஷிஷதி ஸ தாந் ஹாரயிஷ்யதி, ய: கஸ்²சிந் மத³ர்த²ம்’ ப்ராணாந் ஹாரயிஷ்யதி ஸ தாந் ரக்ஷிஷ்யதி|
25 People might get everything that [they want] in this world, but (they are really gaining nothing if they do not get eternal life by [becoming my disciples]!/are they really gaining anything if they do not get eternal life by [becoming my disciples]?) [RHQ]
கஸ்²சித்³ யதி³ ஸர்வ்வம்’ ஜக³த் ப்ராப்நோதி கிந்து ஸ்வப்ராணாந் ஹாரயதி ஸ்வயம்’ விநஸ்²யதி ச தர்ஹி தஸ்ய கோ லாப⁴: ?
26 Those who reject my message [and] refuse to say that [they belong] to me, [I], the one who came from heaven, will also refuse to say that [they belong to me] when I come back with the holy angels, and have the glorious brightness that my Father has.
புந ர்ய: கஸ்²சிந் மாம்’ மம வாக்யம்’ வா லஜ்ஜாஸ்பத³ம்’ ஜாநாதி மநுஷ்யபுத்ரோ யதா³ ஸ்வஸ்ய பிதுஸ்²ச பவித்ராணாம்’ தூ³தாநாஞ்ச தேஜோபி⁴: பரிவேஷ்டித ஆக³மிஷ்யதி ததா³ ஸோபி தம்’ லஜ்ஜாஸ்பத³ம்’ ஜ்ஞாஸ்யதி|
27 But listen carefully! Some of you [(pl)] who are here now will see God ruling [MET] [in many powerful ways]. You will see it before you die!”
கிந்து யுஷ்மாநஹம்’ யதா²ர்த²ம்’ வதா³மி, ஈஸ்²வரீயராஜத்வம்’ ந த்³ரு’ஷ்டவா ம்ரு’த்யும்’ நாஸ்வாதி³ஷ்யந்தே, ஏதாத்³ரு’ஸா²: கியந்தோ லோகா அத்ர ஸ்த²நே(அ)பி த³ண்டா³யமாநா: ஸந்தி|
28 About a week after [Jesus] said those things, he took Peter, James, and [James’ brother] John and led them up a mountain so that he could pray [there].
ஏததா³க்²யாநகத²நாத் பரம்’ ப்ராயேணாஷ்டஸு தி³நேஷு க³தேஷு ஸ பிதரம்’ யோஹநம்’ யாகூப³ஞ்ச க்³ரு’ஹீத்வா ப்ரார்த²யிதும்’ பர்வ்வதமேகம்’ ஸமாருரோஹ|
29 As he was praying, his face appeared very different to them. His clothes became as bright as lightning.
அத² தஸ்ய ப்ரார்த²நகாலே தஸ்ய முகா²க்ரு’திரந்யரூபா ஜாதா, ததீ³யம்’ வஸ்த்ரமுஜ்ஜ்வலஸு²க்லம்’ ஜாதம்’|
30 Suddenly, two men appeared who had the brightness [of heaven] surrounding them. They were [prophets who had lived long ago], Moses and Elijah. They started talking with Jesus about how he [would accomplish what God had planned when he died] [EUP] [very soon] in Jerusalem.
அபரஞ்ச மூஸா ஏலியஸ்²சோபௌ⁴ தேஜஸ்விநௌ த்³ரு’ஷ்டௌ
தௌ தேந யிரூஸா²லம்புரே யோ ம்ரு’த்யு: ஸாதி⁴ஷ்யதே ததீ³யாம்’ கதா²ம்’ தேந ஸார்த்³த⁴ம்’ கத²யிதும் ஆரேபா⁴தே|
32 Peter and the other [disciples] who were with him were sound asleep. When they woke up, they saw [Jesus’] brightness. They also saw the two men standing with him.
ததா³ பிதராத³ய: ஸ்வஸ்ய ஸங்கி³நோ நித்³ரயாக்ரு’ஷ்டா ஆஸந் கிந்து ஜாக³ரித்வா தஸ்ய தேஜஸ்தேந ஸார்த்³த⁴ம் உத்திஷ்ட²ந்தௌ ஜநௌ ச த³த்³ரு’ஸு²: |
33 As [Moses and Elijah] were starting to leave Jesus, Peter said to him, “Master, it is wonderful for us to be here! Allow us to make three shelters, one for you, one for Moses, and one for Elijah!” But he really did not realize what he was talking about.
அத² தயோருப⁴யோ ர்க³மநகாலே பிதரோ யீஸு²ம்’ ப³பா⁴ஷே, ஹே கு³ரோ(அ)ஸ்மாகம்’ ஸ்தா²நே(அ)ஸ்மிந் ஸ்தி²தி: ஸு²பா⁴, தத ஏகா த்வத³ர்தா², ஏகா மூஸார்தா², ஏகா ஏலியார்தா², இதி திஸ்ர: குட்யோஸ்மாபி⁴ ர்நிர்ம்மீயந்தாம்’, இமாம்’ கதா²ம்’ ஸ ந விவிச்ய கத²யாமாஸ|
34 As he was saying that, a [bright] cloud appeared and covered them all. The disciples were afraid as the cloud surrounded them.
அபரஞ்ச தத்³வாக்யவத³நகாலே பயோத³ ஏக ஆக³த்ய தேஷாமுபரி சா²யாம்’ சகார, ததஸ்தந்மத்⁴யே தயோ: ப்ரவேஸா²த் தே ஸ²ஸ²ங்கிரே|
35 [God] [MTY/EUP] spoke to them from the cloud, saying, “This is my Son. He is the one whom [I] have chosen [to do a great work for me]. [So] you must listen to him!”
ததா³ தஸ்மாத் பயோதா³த்³ இயமாகாஸீ²யா வாணீ நிர்ஜகா³ம, மமாயம்’ ப்ரிய: புத்ர ஏதஸ்ய கதா²யாம்’ மநோ நித⁴த்த|
36 After [God] [MTY/EUP] finished saying that, [the three disciples] saw that only Jesus was there. They did not tell anyone what they had seen until much later.
இதி ஸ²ப்³தே³ ஜாதே தே யீஸு²மேகாகிநம்’ த³த்³ரு’ஸு²: கிந்து தே ததா³நீம்’ தஸ்ய த³ர்ஸ²நஸ்ய வாசமேகாமபி நோக்த்வா மந: ஸு ஸ்தா²பயாமாஸு: |
37 The next day, after they had come down from the mountain, a large crowd [of people] met Jesus.
பரே(அ)ஹநி தேஷு தஸ்மாச்சை²லாத்³ அவரூடே⁴ஷு தம்’ ஸாக்ஷாத் கர்த்தும்’ ப³ஹவோ லோகா ஆஜக்³மு: |
38 Then a man from the crowd exclaimed, “Teacher, I plead with you, [do something to help] my son! He is my only child!
தேஷாம்’ மத்⁴யாத்³ ஏகோ ஜந உச்சைருவாச, ஹே கு³ரோ அஹம்’ விநயம்’ கரோமி மம புத்ரம்’ ப்ரதி க்ரு’பாத்³ரு’ஷ்டிம்’ கரோது, மம ஸ ஏவைக: புத்ர: |
39 At various times an evil spirit suddenly seizes him and [causes] him to scream. The evil spirit shakes him violently and causes him to foam at the mouth. It does not leave until my child is completely exhausted.
பூ⁴தேந த்⁴ரு’த: ஸந் ஸம்’ ப்ரஸப⁴ம்’ சீச்ச²ப்³த³ம்’ கரோதி தந்முகா²த் பே²ணா நிர்க³ச்ச²ந்தி ச, பூ⁴த இத்த²ம்’ விதா³ர்ய்ய க்லிஷ்ட்வா ப்ராயஸ²ஸ்தம்’ ந த்யஜதி|
40 I pleaded with your disciples [who were here] for them to expel [the evil spirit], but they were not able to do it!”
தஸ்மாத் தம்’ பூ⁴தம்’ த்யாஜயிதும்’ தவ ஸி²ஷ்யஸமீபே ந்யவேத³யம்’ கிந்து தே ந ஸே²கு: |
41 Jesus replied [by saying to everyone who had gathered there], “[You who have seen how I help people] do not believe [that you can do anything]. What you [think] is perverted! How long must I be with you [before you are able to do what I do] [RHQ]? [How long must I] endure your [lack of faith]?” [Then he said to the boy’s father], “Bring your [(sg)] son here [to me]!”
ததா³ யீஸு²ரவாதீ³த், ரே ஆவிஸ்²வாஸிந் விபத²கா³மிந் வம்’ஸ² கதிகாலாந் யுஷ்மாபி⁴: ஸஹ ஸ்தா²ஸ்யாம்யஹம்’ யுஷ்மாகம் ஆசரணாநி ச ஸஹிஷ்யே? தவ புத்ரமிஹாநய|
42 While they were bringing the boy to Jesus, the demon attacked the boy, threw him to the ground, and shook him severely. But Jesus rebuked the evil spirit and healed the boy. Then he returned him to his father’s [care].
ததஸ்தஸ்மிந்நாக³தமாத்ரே பூ⁴தஸ்தம்’ பூ⁴மௌ பாதயித்வா வித³தா³ர; ததா³ யீஸு²ஸ்தமமேத்⁴யம்’ பூ⁴தம்’ தர்ஜயித்வா பா³லகம்’ ஸ்வஸ்த²ம்’ க்ரு’த்வா தஸ்ய பிதரி ஸமர்பயாமாஸ|
43 All the people [there] were amazed at the great [power] of God. Luke 9:43b-45 While they were all amazed at all the miracles [Jesus] was doing, he said to his disciples,
ஈஸ்²வரஸ்ய மஹாஸ²க்திம் இமாம்’ விலோக்ய ஸர்வ்வே சமச்சக்ரு: ; இத்த²ம்’ யீஸோ²: ஸர்வ்வாபி⁴: க்ரியாபி⁴: ஸர்வ்வைர்லோகைராஸ்²சர்ய்யே மந்யமாநே ஸதி ஸ ஸி²ஷ்யாந் ப³பா⁴ஷே,
44 “Think carefully [MTY] about what I am about to tell you: [Even though I am] the one who came from heaven, [I will soon] be handed over to the authorities (OR, my enemies) {[someone] is about to enable [MTY] my enemies to seize me}.”
கதே²யம்’ யுஷ்மாகம்’ கர்ணேஷு ப்ரவிஸ²து, மநுஷ்யபுத்ரோ மநுஷ்யாணாம்’ கரேஷு ஸமர்பயிஷ்யதே|
45 But [the disciples] did not understand what he was saying; [God] prevented them from understanding it, so that they would not know [yet] what he meant. And they were afraid to ask him about [what he had said].
கிந்து தே தாம்’ கதா²ம்’ ந பு³பு³தி⁴ரே, ஸ்பஷ்டத்வாபா⁴வாத் தஸ்யா அபி⁴ப்ராயஸ்தேஷாம்’ போ³த⁴க³ம்யோ ந ப³பூ⁴வ; தஸ்யா ஆஸ²ய: க இத்யபி தே ப⁴யாத் ப்ரஷ்டும்’ ந ஸே²கு: |
46 The disciples began to argue among themselves about which one of them would be the greatest [when Jesus became king].
தத³நந்தரம்’ தேஷாம்’ மத்⁴யே க: ஸ்²ரேஷ்ட²: கதா²மேதாம்’ க்³ரு’ஹீத்வா தே மிதோ² விவாத³ம்’ சக்ரு: |
47 But Jesus perceived what they were thinking. So he brought a young child to his side.
ததோ யீஸு²ஸ்தேஷாம்’ மநோபி⁴ப்ராயம்’ விதி³த்வா பா³லகமேகம்’ க்³ரு’ஹீத்வா ஸ்வஸ்ய நிகடே ஸ்தா²பயித்வா தாந் ஜகா³த³,
48 He said to [the disciples], “Those who, because they [love] me, (OR, because they want to behave like me) welcome a little child ([like] this one/[as] I [would]) [MTY], [God considers that] [MET] they are welcoming me. And those who welcome me, [God considers] that [MET] they are welcoming him, the one who sent me. Remember that those among you who think of themselves as being very unimportant will be the ones [whom God considers] to be great.”
யோ ஜநோ மம நாம்நாஸ்ய பா³லாஸ்யாதித்²யம்’ வித³தா⁴தி ஸ மமாதித்²யம்’ வித³தா⁴தி, யஸ்²ச மமாதித்²யம்’ வித³தா⁴தி ஸ மம ப்ரேரகஸ்யாதித்²யம்’ வித³தா⁴தி, யுஷ்மாகம்’ மத்⁴யேய: ஸ்வம்’ ஸர்வ்வஸ்மாத் க்ஷுத்³ரம்’ ஜாநீதே ஸ ஏவ ஸ்²ரேஷ்டோ² ப⁴விஷ்யதி|
49 John replied to [Jesus], “Master, we [(exc)] saw a man who was expelling demons, [claiming] that [he had] authority from you [MTY] to do that. So we told him to stop doing it, because he is not one of us [disciples].”
அபரஞ்ச யோஹந் வ்யாஜஹார ஹே ப்ரபே⁴ தவ நாம்நா பூ⁴தாந் த்யாஜயந்தம்’ மாநுஷம் ஏகம்’ த்³ரு’ஷ்டவந்தோ வயம்’, கிந்த்வஸ்மாகம் அபஸ்²சாத்³ கா³மித்வாத் தம்’ ந்யஷேதா⁴ம்| ததா³நீம்’ யீஸு²ருவாச,
50 But Jesus said to him [and the other disciples], “Do not tell him not to [do that]! Remember that those who are not opposing you are trying to [achieve the same goals that] you are!”
தம்’ மா நிஷேத⁴த, யதோ யோ ஜநோஸ்மாகம்’ ந விபக்ஷ: ஸ ஏவாஸ்மாகம்’ ஸபக்ஷோ ப⁴வதி|
51 When it was almost time for [God] to take Jesus up to heaven, he firmly resolved to go to Jerusalem.
அநந்தரம்’ தஸ்யாரோஹணஸமய உபஸ்தி²தே ஸ ஸ்தி²ரசேதா யிரூஸா²லமம்’ ப்ரதி யாத்ராம்’ கர்த்தும்’ நிஸ்²சித்யாக்³ரே தூ³தாந் ப்ரேஷயாமாஸ|
52 He sent some messengers to go ahead of him, and they entered a village in Samaria [district] to prepare for him [SYN] [to go there].
தஸ்மாத் தே க³த்வா தஸ்ய ப்ரயோஜநீயத்³ரவ்யாணி ஸம்’க்³ரஹீதும்’ ஸோ²மிரோணீயாநாம்’ க்³ராமம்’ ப்ரவிவிஸு²: |
53 But [the Samaritans did not like the Jews because of their insisting that it was necessary to go to Jerusalem to worship God. So], because Jesus had firmly resolved to go to Jerusalem, they would not let him come [to their village].
கிந்து ஸ யிரூஸா²லமம்’ நக³ரம்’ யாதி ததோ ஹேதோ ர்லோகாஸ்தஸ்யாதித்²யம்’ ந சக்ரு: |
54 When two of his disciples, James and John, heard about that, they said, “Lord, do you [(sg)] want us [(exc)] to pray that [God] will send fire down from heaven, [as the prophet Elijah did long ago], and destroy those people?”
அதஏவ யாகூப்³யோஹநௌ தஸ்ய ஸி²ஷ்யௌ தத்³ த்³ரு’ஷ்ட்வா ஜக³த³து: , ஹே ப்ரபோ⁴ ஏலியோ யதா² சகார ததா² வயமபி கிம்’ க³க³ணாத்³ ஆக³ந்தும் ஏதாந் ப⁴ஸ்மீகர்த்துஞ்ச வஹ்நிமாஜ்ஞாபயாம: ? ப⁴வாந் கிமிச்ச²தி?
55 But Jesus turned and rebuked them [for saying that].
கிந்து ஸ முக²ம்’ பராவர்த்ய தாந் தர்ஜயித்வா க³தி³தவாந் யுஷ்மாகம்’ மநோபா⁴வ: க: , இதி யூயம்’ ந ஜாநீத²|
56 So they went to a different village.
மநுஜஸுதோ மநுஜாநாம்’ ப்ராணாந் நாஸ²யிதும்’ நாக³ச்ச²த், கிந்து ரக்ஷிதும் ஆக³ச்ச²த்| பஸ்²சாத்³ இதரக்³ராமம்’ தே யயு: |
57 As Jesus and the disciples were walking along the road, one man said to him, “I will go with you [(sg)] wherever you go!”
தத³நந்தரம்’ பதி² க³மநகாலே ஜந ஏகஸ்தம்’ ப³பா⁴ஷே, ஹே ப்ரபோ⁴ ப⁴வாந் யத்ர யாதி ப⁴வதா ஸஹாஹமபி தத்ர யாஸ்யாமி|
58 [In order that the man might know what he could expect if he went with Jesus], Jesus said to him, “Foxes have holes [in the ground in which to live], and birds have nests, but [even though I am] the one who came from heaven, I do not have a home where I can sleep!”
ததா³நீம்’ யீஸு²ஸ்தமுவாச, கோ³மாயூநாம்’ க³ர்த்தா ஆஸதே, விஹாயஸீயவிஹகா³நாம்’ நீடா³நி ச ஸந்தி, கிந்து மாநவதநயஸ்ய ஸி²ர: ஸ்தா²பயிதும்’ ஸ்தா²நம்’ நாஸ்தி|
59 Jesus told another man, “Come with me!” But the man said, “Lord/Sir, let me go [home] first. [After] my father [dies] I will bury him, [and then I will come with you].”
தத: பரம்’ ஸ இதரஜநம்’ ஜகா³த³, த்வம்’ மம பஸ்²சாத்³ ஏஹி; தத: ஸ உவாச, ஹே ப்ரபோ⁴ பூர்வ்வம்’ பிதரம்’ ஸ்²மஸா²நே ஸ்தா²பயிதும்’ மாமாதி³ஸ²து|
60 But Jesus said to him, “[God considers that those who do not have eternal life are] dead [MET]. Let those people [do the work of] burying people who die. As for you, go and tell people about how God wants (to rule/to have complete control [over]) [people’s lives]!”
ததா³ யீஸு²ருவாச, ம்ரு’தா ம்ரு’தாந் ஸ்²மஸா²நே ஸ்தா²பயந்து கிந்து த்வம்’ க³த்வேஸ்²வரீயராஜ்யஸ்ய கதா²ம்’ ப்ரசாரய|
61 Someone else said, “Lord, I will come with you and be your disciple, but first let me go home to say goodbye to my relatives.”
ததோந்ய: கத²யாமாஸ, ஹே ப்ரபோ⁴ மயாபி ப⁴வத: பஸ்²சாத்³ க³ம்’ஸ்யதே, கிந்து பூர்வ்வம்’ மம நிவேஸ²நஸ்ய பரிஜநாநாம் அநுமதிம்’ க்³ரஹீதும் அஹமாதி³ஸ்²யை ப⁴வதா|
62 Jesus said to him, “Anyone who is plowing his field should not look back [to see what he has done. He must look forward to what is ahead. Similarly], [anyone who continues to be concerned about his family and other things he has left behind] is not fit [to serve me and tell others about how] God wants to rule [MTY] [people’s lives].”
ததா³நீம்’ யீஸு²ஸ்தம்’ ப்ரோக்தவாந், யோ ஜநோ லாங்க³லே கரமர்பயித்வா பஸ்²சாத் பஸ்²யதி ஸ ஈஸ்²வரீயராஜ்யம்’ நார்ஹதி|
