Luke 3
1 When the Emperor Tiberius had been ruling [the Roman Empire] for 15 years, and while Pontius Pilate was the governor of Judea [district], and Herod [Antipas] was ruling Galilee [district], and his brother Philip was ruling Iturea and Trachonitis [districts], and Lysanius was ruling Abilene [district],
ரோம பேரரசன் திபேரியு சீசரது ஆட்சியின் பதினைந்தாவது வருடத்தில், பொந்தியு பிலாத்து யூதேயாவின் ஆளுநனாக இருந்தான். அக்காலத்தில் ஏரோது கலிலேயாவை ஆளுகிற சிற்றரசனாய் இருந்தான். அவனது சகோதரன் பிலிப்பு இத்துரேயா, திராகொனித்து ஆகிய பகுதிகளை ஆளுகிற சிற்றரசனாய் இருந்தான். லிசானியா என்பவன் அபிலேனே பகுதிகளை ஆளுகிற சிற்றரசனாய் இருந்தான்.
2 and while Annas and Caiaphas were the high priests [in Jerusalem], God gave messages to Zechariah’s son John while he was living in the desolate region.
அக்காலத்தில் அன்னாவும் காய்பாவும் பிரதான ஆசாரியராய் இருந்தார்கள். அப்பொழுது பாலைவனத்தில் இருந்த சகரியாவின் மகன் யோவானுக்கு இறைவனுடைய வார்த்தை வந்தது.
3 [So] John went all over the area close to the Jordan [River]. He kept telling people, “If you want [God] to forgive you for your sins, you must (repent/turn away from your sinful behavior) [before you ask me] to baptize [you]!”
அவன் யோர்தான் நதியைச் சுற்றியுள்ள நாட்டுப்புறம் எங்கும் சென்று, மக்கள் பாவங்களிலிருந்து மன்னிப்புப் பெறுவதற்கு, அவர்கள் மனந்திரும்பிப் பெறவேண்டிய திருமுழுக்கைக் குறித்துப் பிரசங்கித்தான்.
4 John was the one who [fulfilled] these words that had [been written] by the prophet Isaiah {that the prophet Isaiah had written} on a scroll [long ago]: In a desolate area, someone [SYN] will be heard shouting [to the people who pass by], “Prepare yourselves [to receive] the Lord when he comes! [Make yourselves ready so that you will be prepared when he comes], [just like people] straighten out the road [MET] [for an important official] [MET, DOU]!
இறைவாக்கினன் ஏசாயாவின் வார்த்தைகள் அடங்கிய புத்தகத்தில் எழுதப்பட்டிருப்பதுபோல் இது நடந்தது: “பாலைவனத்தில் கூப்பிடுகிற ஒருவனின் குரல் கேட்கிறது, ‘கர்த்தருக்கு வழியை ஆயத்தப்படுத்துங்கள், அவருக்காக பாதைகளை நேராக்குங்கள்.
5 [Just like people] level off all the places where the land rises and [just like they] fill all the ravines, and [just like people] make the road straight wherever it is crooked, and [just like people] make smooth the bumps in the road, [similarly you need to remove all the obstacles which prevent God from blessing you]!
பள்ளத்தாக்குகள் எல்லாம் நிரப்பப்படும், ஒவ்வொரு மலையும் குன்றும் தாழ்த்தப்படும். கோணலான வீதிகள் நேராகும், கரடுமுரடான வழிகள் சீராகும்.
6 Then people [SYN] everywhere will understand how God can save [MTY] [people].”
மனுக்குலம் யாவும் இறைவனின் இரட்சிப்பைக் காணும்.’”
7 Although large groups of people came to John to be baptized {in order that he would baptize them}, [he knew that many of them were not sincere]. So he kept saying to them, “You [people are evil] [MET] [like] poisonous snakes! [I] warn you that [God] will some day punish [MTY] [everyone] who sins. And (do not think that you can escape [from his punishing] [MTY] [you if you do not turn from your sinful behavior!/did someone tell you] that you can escape [from his punishing] [MTY] [you if you do not turn from your sinful behavior]?) [RHQ] (OR, Who told you that you could escape [God’s punishment?])
யோவான் தன்னிடம் திருமுழுக்குப் பெறும்படி வந்த மக்களுக்குச் சொன்னதாவது, “விரியன் பாம்புக் குட்டிகளே! வரப்போகும் கடுங்கோபத்திலிருந்து தப்பியோடும்படி உங்களை எச்சரித்தது யார்?
8 Do what is appropriate for people who have truly turned from their sinful behavior! [God promised to give Abraham many] descendants. In order to fulfill that promise, God does not need you! I tell you that he can change these stones to make them descendants of Abraham! So do not begin to say to yourselves, ‘We [(exc)] are descendants of Abraham, [so God will not punish us, even though we have] sinned!’
நீங்கள் மனந்திரும்பியிருந்தால் அதற்கேற்ற கனியைக் காண்பியுங்கள். ‘ஆபிரகாம் எங்களுக்குத் தகப்பனாக இருக்கிறார்,’ என்று உங்களுக்குள்ளே சொல்லவேண்டாம். ஏனெனில், இந்தக் கற்களிலிருந்துங்கூட ஆபிரகாமுக்குப் பிள்ளைகளை உண்டாக்க இறைவனால் முடியும் என்று நான் உங்களுக்குச் சொல்லுகிறேன்.
9 [God is ready to punish you if you do not turn away from your sinful behavior, just like a man] [MET] lays his axe at the roots [of a fruit] tree [to chop it down and throw it into the fire if it does not produce good fruit] [MET].”
கோடாரி ஏற்கெனவே மரங்களின் வேர் அருகே வைக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது; நல்ல கனிகொடாத ஒவ்வொரு மரமும் வெட்டப்பட்டு நெருப்பிலே போடப்படும்” என்றான்.
10 [Then] various ones in the crowd asked John, “What shall we [(exc)] do [to escape God punishing us] (OR), [to show that we have repented]?”
அப்பொழுது கூடியிருந்த மக்கள் அவனிடம், “அப்படியானால், நாங்கள் என்ன செய்யவேண்டும்?” என்று கேட்டார்கள்.
11 He answered them, “If any of you has two shirts, you should give one of them to someone who has no shirt. If any of you has [plenty of] food, you should give some to those who have no food.”
யோவான் அதற்குப் பதிலாக, “இரண்டு உடைகளை வைத்திருப்பவன் உடைகள் இல்லாதவனுடன் பகிர்ந்துகொள்ளட்டும்; உணவை வைத்திருக்கிறவனும் அவ்வாறே செய்யட்டும்” என்றான்.
12 [Some] tax collectors came [and asked] to be baptized ([asked him] to baptize them}. They asked him, “Teacher, what shall we [(exc)] do [to please God]?”
வரி வசூலிக்கிறவர்களும் திருமுழுக்குப் பெறும்படி வந்து, அவனிடம், “போதகரே, நாங்கள் என்ன செய்யவேண்டும்?” என்று கேட்டார்கள்.
13 He said to them, “Do not take from the people any more money than [the Roman government] tells you to take!”
யோவான் அவர்களிடம், “வசூலிக்கும்படி உங்களுக்குச் சொல்லப்பட்ட தொகைக்குமேல், எதையும் வசூலிக்கவேண்டாம்” என்றான்.
14 Some soldiers asked him, “What about us? What should we [(exc)] do [to please God]?” He said to them, “Do not [say to anyone], ‘[If you(sg) do not give me] some money, I will hurt you,’ and do not take [people to court and] falsely accuse them of doing something wrong! And be content with your wages.”
அப்பொழுது சில படைவீரர்கள் அவனிடம், “நாங்கள் என்ன செய்யவேண்டும்?” என்று கேட்டார்கள். அவன் அவர்களிடம், “மக்களைப் பயமுறுத்திப் பணம் பறிக்க வேண்டாம். யார்மீதும் பொய்க் குற்றம் சுமத்தவேண்டாம். உங்களுக்குக் கிடைக்கும் சம்பளத்துடன் திருப்தியாய் இருங்கள்” என்றான்.
15 People were expecting [that the Messiah would come soon]. Because of that, many of them wondered about John. [Some of them asked him] if he was the Messiah.
மக்கள் கிறிஸ்துவுக்காக எதிர்பார்ப்புடன் காத்திருந்ததால், “யோவான்தான் கிறிஸ்துவாயிருப்பாரோ?” என்று தங்கள் இருதயங்களில் யோசித்துக் கொண்டிருந்தார்கள்.
16 John replied to them all, “No, [I am not]. I used [only] water when I baptized you. But [the Messiah] will soon come! He is far greater than I am. [He is so great that] I am not worthy to [be like his slave and] untie his sandals [MET] [like] a slave would do! He will put [his] Holy Spirit within [MTY] you [to truly change your lives], and [he will judge others of you and punish you in] the fire [MET] [in hell]. (questioned)
யோவான் அவர்கள் எல்லோரையும் பார்த்து, “நான் உங்களுக்குத் தண்ணீரினால் திருமுழுக்கு கொடுக்கிறேன். என்னைப் பார்க்கிலும் மிகவும் வல்லமையுள்ள ஒருவர் வருகிறார். அவருடைய பாதரட்சைகளின் வாரை அவிழ்க்கிற ஒரு அடிமையாக இருக்கவும் நான் தகுதியற்றவன். அவர் உங்களுக்குப் பரிசுத்த ஆவியினாலும் அக்கினியாலும் திருமுழுக்கு கொடுப்பார்.
17 He [is like a man] [MET] [who wants to] clear away the grain on the ground where it has been threshed {they have threshed it}. That man [uses] a huge fork [to throw the grain into the air] to separate the wheat from the chaff [MET], and then he cleans up the threshing area. [Similarly, God] will [separate righteous people from the evil people, like a man who] gathers the wheat into his storage area, and then he will burn [those who are like] chaff with a fire (that will never be put out/that will burn forever).”
அவர் தமது கரத்தில் தூற்றுக்கூடை ஏந்தி, தமது களத்தைச் சுத்தம் செய்வார். அவர் தன் தானியங்களை களஞ்சியத்தில் சேர்ப்பார்; பதரையோ அணைந்து போகாத நெருப்பில் எரித்துப்போடுவார்” என்றான்.
18 John kept telling people many things to urge them [to turn to God], as he told them the good message [from God].
யோவான் இன்னும் பல வார்த்தைகளால் அவர்களுக்குப் புத்தி சொல்லி, நற்செய்தியை அவர்களுக்குப் பிரசங்கித்தான்.
19 He also rebuked [the ruler of the district], Herod [Antipas. He rebuked him] for [marrying] Herodias, his brother’s wife, [while his brother was still alive], and for doing many other evil things.
ஆனால் சிற்றரசன் ஏரோது தனது சகோதரனின் மனைவியாகிய ஏரோதியாளை திருமணம் செய்திருந்ததினாலும், வேறு பல தீய காரியங்களைச் செய்ததினாலும் யோவான் அவனைக் கண்டித்தான்.
20 But Herod [had his soldiers] put John in prison. That was another evil thing he did.
இதனால் ஏரோது யோவானைச் சிறையில் அடைத்து, தான் செய்த தீய செயல்களுடன் இதையும் கூட்டிக் கொண்டான்.
21 [But before John was put in prison], when many people were being baptized {when he was baptizing many people}, after Jesus was baptized {he baptized Jesus} and Jesus was praying, the sky opened.
இவ்வாறு எல்லா மக்களும் யோவானிடம் திருமுழுக்கு பெற்றபோது, இயேசுவும் வந்து திருமுழுக்கு பெற்றார். அவர் ஜெபம் செய்துகொண்டிருக்கையில், பரலோகம் திறக்கப்பட்டு,
22 Then the Holy Spirit, resembling a dove, descended upon [Jesus]. And [God] [SYN/EUP] spoke to Jesus from heaven, saying, “You [(sg)] are my Son, whom I love dearly. I am very pleased with you!”
பரிசுத்த ஆவியானவர் ஒரு புறாவைப் போன்ற உருவம் கொண்டவராய் அவர்மேல் இறங்கினார். அப்பொழுது பரலோகத்திலிருந்து ஒரு குரல், “நீர் என்னுடைய அன்பு மகன், நான் உம்மில் மிகவும் மகிழ்ச்சியாயிருக்கிறேன்” என்று உரைத்தது.
23 When Jesus began [his work for God], he was about 30 years old. It was {[People]} thought that he was [the son of] Joseph. [Joseph was the son] of Heli.
இயேசு தமது ஊழியத்தை ஆரம்பித்தபோது, அவர் கிட்டத்தட்ட முப்பது வயதுடையவராய் இருந்தார். அவர் மக்கள் பார்வையில் யோசேப்பின் மகன் என்றே கருதப்பட்டார். யோசேப்பு ஏலியின் மகன்,
24 [Heli was the son] of Matthat. [Matthat was the son] of Levi. [Levi was the son] of Melchi. [Melchi was the son] of Jannai. [Jannai was the son] of Joseph.
ஏலி மாத்தாத்தின் மகன், மாத்தாத் லேவியின் மகன், லேவி மெல்கியின் மகன், மெல்கி யன்னாவின் மகன், யன்னா யோசேப்பின் மகன்,
25 [Joseph was the son] of Mattathias. [Mattathias was the son] of Amos. [Amos was the son] of Nahum. [Nahum was the son] of Esli. [Esli was the son] of Naggai.
யோசேப்பு மத்தத்தியாவின் மகன், மத்தத்தியா ஆமோசின் மகன், ஆமோஸ் நாகூமின் மகன், நாகூம் எஸ்லியின் மகன், எஸ்லி நங்காயின் மகன்,
26 [Naggai was the son] of Maath. [Maath was the son] of Mattathias. [Mattathias was the son] of Semein. [Semein was the son] of Josech. [Josech was the son] of Joda.
நங்காய் மாகாத்தின் மகன், மாகாத் மத்தத்தியாவின் மகன், மத்தத்தியா சேமேயின் மகன், சேமேய் யோசேக்கின் மகன், யோசேக்கு யோதாவின் மகன்,
27 [Joda was the son] of Joanan. [Joanan was the son] of Rhesa. [Rhesa was the son] of Zerubbabel. [Zerubbabel was the son] of Shealtiel. [Shealtiel was the son] of Neri.
யோதா யோவன்னானின் மகன், யோவன்னான் ரேசாவின் மகன், ரேசா செருபாபேலின் மகன், செருபாபேல் சலாத்தியேலின் மகன், சலாத்தியேல் நேரியின் மகன்,
28 [Neri was the son] of Melchi. [Melchi was the son] of Addi. [Addi was the son] of Cosam. [Cosam was the son] of Elmadam. [Elmadam was the son] of Er.
நேரி மெல்கியின் மகன், மெல்கி அத்தியின் மகன், அத்தி கோசாமின் மகன், கோசாம் எல்மோதாமின் மகன், எல்மோதாம் ஏரின் மகன்,
29 [Er was the son] of Joshua. [Joshua was the son] of Eliezer. [Eliezer was the son] of Jorim. [Jorim was the son] of Matthat. [Matthat was the son] of Levi.
ஏர் யோசேயின் மகன், யோசே எலியேசரின் மகன், எலியேசர் யோரீமின் மகன், யோரீம் மாத்தாத்தின் மகன், மாத்தாத் லேவியின் மகன்,
30 [Levi was the son] of Simeon. [Simeon was the son] of Judah. [Judah was the son] of Joseph. [Joseph was the son] of Jonam. [Jonam was the son] of Eliakim.
லேவி சிமியோனின் மகன், சிமியோன் யூதாவின் மகன், யூதா யோசேப்பின் மகன், யோசேப்பு யோனாமின் மகன், யோனாம் எலியாக்கீமின் மகன்,
31 [Eliakim was the son] of Melea. [Melea was the son] of Menna. [Menna was the son] of Mattatha. [Mattatha was the son] of Nathan. [Nathan was the son] of David.
எலியாக்கீம் மெலெயாவின் மகன், மெலெயா மென்னாவின் மகன், மென்னா மாத்தாத்தாவின் மகன், மாத்தாத்தா நாத்தானின் மகன், நாத்தான் தாவீதின் மகன்,
32 [David was the son] of Jesse. [Jesse was the son] of Obed. [Obed was the son] of Boaz. [Boaz was the son] of Sala. [Sala was the son] of Nahshon.
தாவீது ஈசாயின் மகன், ஈசாய் ஓபேத்தின் மகன், ஓபேத் போவாஸின் மகன், போவாஸ் சல்மோனின் மகன், சல்மோன் நகசோனின் மகன்,
33 [Nahshon was the son] of Amminadab. [Amminadab was the son] of Admin. [Admin was the son] of Arni. [Arni was the son] of Hezron. [Hezron was the son] of Perez. [Perez was the son] of Judah.
நகசோன் அம்மினதாபின் மகன், அம்மினதாப் ஆராமின் மகன், ஆராம் எஸ்ரோமின் மகன், எஸ்ரோம் பாரேஸின் மகன், பாரேஸ் யூதாவின் மகன்,
34 [Judah was the son] of Jacob. [Jacob was the son] of Isaac. [Isaac was the son] of Abraham. [Abraham was the son] of Terah. [Terah was the son] of Nahor.
யூதா யாக்கோபின் மகன், யாக்கோபு ஈசாக்கின் மகன், ஈசாக்கு ஆபிரகாமின் மகன், ஆபிரகாம் தேராவின் மகன், தேரா நாகோரின் மகன்,
35 [Nahor was the son] of Serug. [Serug was the son] of Reu. [Reu was the son] of Peleg. [Peleg was the son] of Eber. [Eber was the son] of Shelah.
நாகோர் சேரூக்கின் மகன், சேரூக் ரெகூவின் மகன், ரெகூ பேலேக்கின் மகன், பேலேக் ஏபேரின் மகன், ஏபேர் சாலாவின் மகன்,
36 [Shelah was the son] of Cainan. [Cainan was the son] of Arphaxad. [Arphaxad was the son] of Shem. [Shem was the son] of Noah. [Noah was the son] of Lamech.
சாலா காயினானின் மகன், காயினான் அர்ப்பகசாத்தின் மகன், அர்ப்பகசாத் சேமின் மகன், சேம் நோவாவின் மகன், நோவா லாமேக்கின் மகன்,
37 [Lamech was the son] of Methuselah. [Methuselah was the son] of Enoch. [Enoch was the son] of Jared. [Jared was the son] of Mahalalel. [Mahalalel was the son] of Cainan.
லாமேக்கு மெத்தூசலாவின் மகன், மெத்தூசலா ஏனோக்கின் மகன், ஏனோக்கு யாரேத்தின் மகன், யாரேத் மகலாலெயேலின் மகன், மகலாலெயேல் கேனானின் மகன்,
38 [Cainan was the son] of Enos. [Enos was the son] of Seth. [Seth was the son] of Adam. [Adam was the man] God created.
கேனான் ஏனோஸின் மகன், ஏனோஸ் சேத்தின் மகன், சேத் ஆதாமின் மகன், ஆதாம் இறைவனின் மகன்.
