Leviticus 3

1 [“Also tell the people], ‘When the offering that you bring to Yahweh is to maintain good fellowship [with him], you may bring a bull or a cow from your herd [of cattle], but what you present to Yahweh must be an animal that has no defects.

“‘Nxa umnikelo womuntu ungumnikelo wobudlelwano, enikela ngesifuyo esiduna kumbe esisikazi, esisuka emhlambini, kumele alethe kuThixo isifuyo esingalasici.

2 You must bring the animal to the entrance to the Sacred Tent. You must lay your hands on its head. Then you must slaughter it [and drain some of its blood in a bowl]. Then one of Aaron’s sons, one of the priests, will sprinkle the blood against all sides of the altar.

Kumele abeke isandla sakhe ekhanda lesifuyo somnikelo, abesesihlabela esangweni lethente lokuhlangana. Ngemva kwalokho, amadodana ka-Aroni angabaphristi, azachela igazi emaceleni wonke e-alithare.

3 From that offering, you must offer to Yahweh, as a sacrifice that will be burned in the fire, all the fat that covers the inner parts of the animal, or which is attached to them—

Emnikelweni wobudlelwano uzaletha umhlatshelo onikelwa kuThixo ngomlilo: idanga lonke elembese ezangaphakathi,

4 the kidneys and the fat that is attached to them near the lower back muscle, and the fat that covers the liver.

izinso zombili lamahwahwa azo aseduzane lesinqe, lamahwahwa aphezu kwesibindi, okufanele kukhutshwe lezinso.

5 Then one of the priests will burn those things on the altar, along with the other parts of the animal that will be completely burned to be an offering [to Yahweh]. And the aroma while it burns will be pleasing to Yahweh.

Ngakho amadodana ka-Aroni azakutshisela e-alithareni, phezu komnikelo wokutshiswa ophezu kwenkuni ezibhebhayo njengomnikelo owenziwa ngomlilo, uqhatshi olumnandi kuThixo.

6 If that offering to maintain good fellowship with Yahweh is a sheep or a goat, it must also be an animal that has no defects.

Nxa anganikela ngesifuyo esisuka emhlambini wezimvu njengomnikelo wobudlelwano kuThixo, kuzamele anikele ngesiduna kumbe esisikazi esingelasici.

7 If you offer a lamb, you must present it to Yahweh [at the entrance to the Sacred Tent]. You must lay your hands on the lamb’s head and then slaughter it. [‘You must drain some of its blood in a bowl].

Nxa anganikela ngezinyane, kumele alilethe phambi kukaThixo.

8 Then one of the priests will sprinkle that blood against all sides of the altar.

Kumele abeke isandla sakhe phezu kwekhanda lomnikelo wakhe, asihlabe lesosifuyo phambi kwesango lethente lokuhlangana. Amadodana ka-Aroni azachela igazi laso emaceleni wonke e-alithare.

9 You must dedicate these things to be a sacrifice to Yahweh that is burned: Its fat, the fat tail that you must cut off close to the backbone, and all the fat that covers the inner parts of the lamb or which is attached to them—

11 One of the priests will burn those things on the altar to be an offering to Yahweh; [it will be as though] they will be a special food [given to Yahweh].

Umphristi uzakutshisela e-alithareni njengomhlatshelo wokudla, onikelwa kuThixo.

12 ‘If your offering is a goat, you must take/present it to Yahweh.

Nxa umnikelo wakhe kuyimbuzi, uzayethula phambi kukaThixo.

13 You must lay your hands on its head. Then you must slaughter it in front of the Sacred Tent. Then one of Aaron’s sons will sprinkle the blood against all sides of the altar.

Uzabeka isandla sakhe ekhanda layo, abeseyihlabela phambi kwesango lethente lokuhlangana. Amadodana ka-Aroni azachela igazi layo emaceleni wonke e-alithare.

14 From that offering you must dedicate these things to be a sacrifice to Yahweh that is burned: All the fat that covers the inner parts of the animal or which is attached to them,

Kulokho akunikelayo, kuzamele anikele umhlatshelo wokudla kuThixo, idanga lonke lawo wonke amahwahwa embese ezangaphakathi,

15 the kidneys with the fat that is on them near the lower back muscle, and the fat that covers the liver.

izinso zombili, lamahwahwa aseduzane lesinqe, lamahwahwa aphezu kwesibindi okuzakhutshwa ndawonye lezinso.

16 The priest will burn those things on the altar to be an offering to Yahweh; [it will be as though] they will be a special food [given to Yahweh]. And the aroma while it burns will be pleasing to Yahweh. All the fat [of the animals that are sacrificed] belongs to Yahweh.

Umphristi uzakutshisela e-alithareni njengomhlatshelo wokudla, iphunga elimnandi. Wonke amahwahwa ngakaThixo.

17 ‘This is a command that must be obeyed by you and your descendants forever, wherever you live: You must not eat the fat or the blood [of any animal].’”

Lokhu kuzakuba yisimiso esingapheliyo ezizukulwaneni zenu zonke, kuzozonke izindawo elihlala kuzo. Akumelanga lidle yiloba ngumhlobo bani wamahwahwa kumbe igazi.’”
