Leviticus 18
1 Yahweh also said to Moses/me,
Le Seigneur parla à Moïse, disant:
2 “Speak to the Israeli people and tell them [that I, Yahweh, say this] this: I am Yahweh, your God.
Parle aux enfants d’Israël et tu leur diras: Je suis le Seigneur votre Dieu:
3 [So you must do what I want you to do]; you must not do the things that the people in Egypt, where you lived previously, do; and you must not do what is done by the people in Canaan, the land to which I am taking you. Do not imitate their behavior.
Vous ne vous conduirez point selon la coutume de la terre d’Egypte, dans laquelle vous avez habité; et vous n’agirez point selon les mœurs du pays de Chanaan, dans lequel je dois moi-même vous introduire, et vous ne marcherez point dans leurs lois.
4 You must obey all of my laws [DOU], because it is I, Yahweh your God, [who am commanding those laws].
Vous exécuterez mes ordonnances, vous observerez mes préceptes et vous y marcherez. Je suis le Seigneur votre Dieu.
5 If you obey all my laws and decrees, you will continue to remain alive [for a long time]. I, Yahweh, [am the one who is promising that to you]. [These are some of my laws]:
Gardez mes lois et mes ordonnances; l’homme qui les accomplit, vivra par elles. Je suis le Seigneur.
6 “Do not have sex with any of your close relatives. It is I, Yahweh, [who am commanding that].
Nul homme ne s’approchera d’une femme qui est de son sang pour révéler sa nudité. Je suis le Seigneur.
7 “Do not disgrace your father by having sex with your mother [DOU].
Tu ne découvriras point la nudité de ton père et la nudité de ta mère: c’est ta mère; tu ne révéleras pas sa nudité.
8 “Do not have sex with any of your father’s [other] wives, because that would disgrace your father.
Tu ne découvriras point la nudité de la femme de ton père; car c’est la nudité de ton père.
9 “Do not have sex with your sister or your stepsister; it does not matter whether she was born in your house or somewhere else.
Tu ne révéleras point la nudité de ta sœur de père ou de mère, qui est née dans la maison ou au dehors.
10 “Do not have sex with your granddaughter, because that would disgrace you.
Tu ne révéleras point la nudité de la fille de ton fils ou de la fille de ta fille; parce que c’est ta nudité.
11 “Do not have sex with your half-sister, because she is your sister.
Tu ne révéleras point la nudité de la fille de la femme de ton père, qu’elle a enfantée à ton père; car elle est ta sœur.
12 “Do not have sex with your father’s sister, because she is your father’s close relative.
Tu ne découvriras point la nudité de la sœur de ton père, parce que c’est la chair de ton père.
13 “Do not have sex with your mother’s sister, because she is your mother’s close relative.
Tu ne révéleras point la nudité de la sœur de la mère, parce que c’est la chair de ta mère.
14 “Do not disgrace your (uncle/father’s brother) by having sex with his wife, because she is your aunt.
Tu ne révéleras point la nudité de ton oncle paternel, et tu ne t’approcheras point de sa femme, qui t’est unie par affinité.
15 “Do not have sex with [DOU] your daughter-in-law, because she is your son’s wife.
Tu ne révéleras point la nudité de ta belle-fille, parce que c’est la femme de ton fils, et tu ne découvriras point son ignominie.
16 “Do not have sex with your brother’s wife, because that would disgrace your brother.
Tu ne révéleras point la nudité de la femme de ton frère, parce que c’est la nudité de ton frère.
17 “Do not have sex with the daughter or granddaughter of any woman whom you have previously had sex with; they are [her] (OR, [your]) close relatives. Having sex with any of them would be a wicked thing to do.
Tu ne révéleras point la nudité de ta femme et de sa fille. Tu ne prendras point la fille de son fils et la fille de sa fille, pour révéler son ignominie, parce qu’elles sont sa chair, et une telle union est un inceste.
18 “While your wife is still living, do not marry your wife’s sister and have sex with her.
Tu ne prendras point la sœur de ta femme conjointement avec elle, et tu ne révéleras point sa nudité, elle encore vivante.
19 “Do not have sex with any woman while she is having her monthly menstrual period.
Tu ne t’approcheras point de la femme qui a ses mois, et tu ne révéleras point son impureté.
20 “Do not (defile yourself/make yourself unacceptable to me) by having sex with someone else’s wife.
Tu ne t’approcheras point de la femme de ton prochain, et tu ne te souilleras point par un mélange de sang.
21 “Do not give any of your children to be burned to be a sacrifice to the god Molech, because that would show that you do not revere me [MTY], Yahweh, your God.
Tu ne donneras point de tes enfants pour être consacrés à l’idole de Moloch, et tu ne souilleras point le nom de ton Dieu. Je suis le Seigneur.
22 “No man should have sex with another man; that is detestable.
Tu ne t’approcheras point d’un homme comme d’une femme, parce que c’est une abomination.
23 “No one, man or woman, should (defile himself/cause himself to become unacceptable to me) by having sex with an animal; that is a perverse act.
Tu ne t’approcheras d’aucune bête, et tu ne te souilleras point avec elle. Une femme n’ira point vers une bête et ne s’unira point avec elle, parce que c’est un crime.
24 “Do not (defile yourselves/cause yourselves to become unacceptable to me) in any of those ways, because doing those things is how the people of the nations that I expelled as you advanced became (unacceptable to me/defiled).
Ne soyez point souillés d’aucune de ces choses, dont ont été souillées toutes les nations, que je chasserai moi-même devant vous,
25 They even caused the land to become defiled, so I punished them for their sins, and [it was as though] the land vomited out the people who lived there.
Et dont a été souillée cette terre de laquelle je visiterai moi-même les crimes, afin qu’elle vomisse ses habitants.
26 You must all obey my laws and decrees. That includes you people who were born here and the foreigners who live among you.
Gardez mes lois et mes ordonnances, et ne faites aucune de ces abominations, tant l’indigène, que le colon qui séjournent chez vous.
27 All those detestable things were done by the people who lived in this land before you came here, and they caused the land to become defiled.
Car toutes ces exécrations, ils les ont commises, les habitants de cette terre qui ont été avant vous, et ils l’ont souillée.
28 So if you defile the land, I will get rid of [MET] you like I got rid of the people of those nations that were here before you came.
Prenez donc garde qu’elle ne vous vomisse vous aussi de même, lorsque vous ferez de pareilles choses, comme elle a vomi la nation qui a été avant vous.
29 “You must not allow people who do any of those detestable things to associate with you who are my people.
Tout homme qui fera quelque chose de ces abominations, périra du milieu de son peuple.
30 Obey everything that I command you to do, and do not defile yourselves by practicing any of the detestable customs that were practiced [by the people who were there] before you came. I, Yahweh your God, [am the one who is commanding these things].”
Gardez mes commandements. Ne faites point les choses qu’ont faites ceux qui ont été avant vous et ne soyez point souillés par elles. Je suis le Seigneur votre Dieu
