Leviticus 18
1 Yahweh also said to Moses/me,
Ja Herra puhui Mosekselle, sanoen:
2 “Speak to the Israeli people and tell them [that I, Yahweh, say this] this: I am Yahweh, your God.
Puhu Israelin lapsille, ja sano heille. Minä olen Herra teidän Jumalanne.
3 [So you must do what I want you to do]; you must not do the things that the people in Egypt, where you lived previously, do; and you must not do what is done by the people in Canaan, the land to which I am taking you. Do not imitate their behavior.
Ei teidän pidä tekemän Egyptin maan työn jälkeen, joss te asuitte, ei myös teidän pidä tekemän Kanaanin maan työn jäkeen, johonka minä tiedän vien, ei teidän myös pidä heidän säädyissänsä vaeltaman.
4 You must obey all of my laws [DOU], because it is I, Yahweh your God, [who am commanding those laws].
Vaan tehkäät minun oikeuteni, ja pitäkäät minun säätyni, vaeltaaksenne niissä; (sillä) minä olen Herra teidän Jumalanne.
5 If you obey all my laws and decrees, you will continue to remain alive [for a long time]. I, Yahweh, [am the one who is promising that to you]. [These are some of my laws]:
Sentähden pitää teidän minun säätyni pitämän ja minun oikeuteni: se ihminen, joka niitä tekee, hän elää niissä; sillä minä olen Herra.
6 “Do not have sex with any of your close relatives. It is I, Yahweh, [who am commanding that].
Ei kenenkään pidä lähimmäistä lankoansa lähestymän, hänen häpyänsä paljastaman; sillä minä olen Herra.
7 “Do not disgrace your father by having sex with your mother [DOU].
Sinun isäs häpyä, ja äitis häpyä ei sinun pidä paljastaman. Se on sinun äitis, älä siis hänen häpyänsä paljasta.
8 “Do not have sex with any of your father’s [other] wives, because that would disgrace your father.
Ei sinun pidä paljastaman isäs emännän häpyä; sillä se on isäs häpy.
9 “Do not have sex with your sister or your stepsister; it does not matter whether she was born in your house or somewhere else.
Sinun sisares häpyä, isäs tyttären, eli äitis tyttären, kotona taikka ulkona syntyneen, ei sinun pidä paljastaman heidän häpyänsä.
10 “Do not have sex with your granddaughter, because that would disgrace you.
Ei sinun pidä paljastaman poikas tyttären, eli tyttäres tyttären häpyä; sillä se on sinun häpys.
11 “Do not have sex with your half-sister, because she is your sister.
Ei sinun pidä paljastaman äitipuoles tyttären häpyä, joka isälles syntynyt on; sillä se on sinun sisares.
12 “Do not have sex with your father’s sister, because she is your father’s close relative.
Ei sinun pidä paljastaman isäs sisaren häpyä; sillä se on isäs lähimmäinen.
13 “Do not have sex with your mother’s sister, because she is your mother’s close relative.
Ei sinun pidä paljastaman äitis sisaren häpyä, sillä se on sinun äitis lähimmäinen.
14 “Do not disgrace your (uncle/father’s brother) by having sex with his wife, because she is your aunt.
Ei sinun pidä paljastaman setäs häpyä, niin ettäs lähestyt hänen emäntäänsä; sillä se on sinun setäs emäntä.
15 “Do not have sex with [DOU] your daughter-in-law, because she is your son’s wife.
Ei sinun pidä paljastaman miniäs häpyä; sillä hän on poikas emäntä, sentähden ei sinun pidä hänen häpyänsä paljastaman.
16 “Do not have sex with your brother’s wife, because that would disgrace your brother.
Ei sinun pidä paljastaman veljes emännän häpyä; sillä se on sinun veljes häpy.
17 “Do not have sex with the daughter or granddaughter of any woman whom you have previously had sex with; they are [her] (OR, [your]) close relatives. Having sex with any of them would be a wicked thing to do.
Ei sinun pidä sinun emäntäs ynnä hänen tyttärensä häpyä paljastaman, eikä hänen poikansa tytärtä, eli tyttären tytärtä ottaman, heidän häpyänsä paljastamaan; sillä ne ovat hänen lähimmäisensä, ja se on kauhistus.
18 “While your wife is still living, do not marry your wife’s sister and have sex with her.
Ei sinun pidä myös ottaman sinun emäntäs sisarta, häntä vaivaamaan, hänen häpyänsä paljastamaan, veilä hänen eläissänsä.
19 “Do not have sex with any woman while she is having her monthly menstrual period.
Vaimon tykö, niin kauvan kuin hän saastaisuutensa sairautta kärsii, ei sinun pidä lähestymän, hänen häpynsä paljastamaan.
20 “Do not (defile yourself/make yourself unacceptable to me) by having sex with someone else’s wife.
Ei sinun pidä myös makaaman lähimmäises emännän tykönä, häneen ryhtymän, jolla itses häneen saastutat.
21 “Do not give any of your children to be burned to be a sacrifice to the god Molech, because that would show that you do not revere me [MTY], Yahweh, your God.
Ei sinun pidä siemenestäs antaman Molekille poltettaa, ettes häpäisisi sinun Jumalas nimeä; sillä minä olen Herra.
22 “No man should have sex with another man; that is detestable.
Ei sinun pidä miehenpuolen kanssa makaaman, niinkuin vaimon kanssa; sillä se on kauhistus.
23 “No one, man or woman, should (defile himself/cause himself to become unacceptable to me) by having sex with an animal; that is a perverse act.
Ei sinun pidä myös eläimen kanssa makaaman, ettes itsiäs sen kanssa saastuttais. Ja ei yksikään vaimo pidä eläimeen ryhtymän, yhdistymään sen kanssa; sillä se on kauhistus.
24 “Do not (defile yourselves/cause yourselves to become unacceptable to me) in any of those ways, because doing those things is how the people of the nations that I expelled as you advanced became (unacceptable to me/defiled).
Ei teidän pidä yhdessäkään näissä itsiänne saastuttaman; sillä näissä kaikissa ovat pakanat heitänsä saastuttaneet, jotka minä ajan pois teidän edestänne.
25 They even caused the land to become defiled, so I punished them for their sins, and [it was as though] the land vomited out the people who lived there.
Ja maa on sillä saastutettu, ja minä etsiskelen sen pahat teot, niin että sen maan pitää asujansa oksentaman.
26 You must all obey my laws and decrees. That includes you people who were born here and the foreigners who live among you.
Sentähden pitäkäät minun säätyni ja oikeuteni, ja älkäät näistä kauhistuksista yhtäkään tehkö: ei omainen, eikä vieras, joka teidän seassanne muukalainen on.
27 All those detestable things were done by the people who lived in this land before you came here, and they caused the land to become defiled.
Sillä kaikkia näitä kauhistuksia ovat tämän maan kansat tehneet, jotka teidän edellänne olivat, ja ovat maan saastuttaneet,
28 So if you defile the land, I will get rid of [MET] you like I got rid of the people of those nations that were here before you came.
Ettei se maa myös teitä oksentaisi, jos te sitä saastutatte, niinkuin se on oksentanut kansan, joka teidän edellänne oli.
29 “You must not allow people who do any of those detestable things to associate with you who are my people.
Sillä kuka ikänänsä näitä kauhistuksia tekee, sen sielu pitää hävitettämän kansastansa.
30 Obey everything that I command you to do, and do not defile yourselves by practicing any of the detestable customs that were practiced [by the people who were there] before you came. I, Yahweh your God, [am the one who is commanding these things].”
Sentähden pitäkäät minun käskyni, ettette tekisi kauhistavaisten tapain jälkeen, joita ne tekivät, jotka teidän edellänne olivat: ettette itsiänne niillä saastutaisi; sillä minä olen Herra teidän Jumalanne.
