Lamentations 4
1 [Previously our people were like] [MET] pure gold, but now they are worthless. [Like] [MET] the sacred stones in the temple have been scattered, [our young men have been scattered].
सोना कैसा बेआब हो गया! कुन्दन कैसा बदल गया! मक़्दिस के पत्थर तमाम गली कूचों में पड़े हैं!
2 The young men of Jerusalem were as valuable as [MET] large amounts of gold, but now people consider that they are as worthless as [ordinary] clay pots.
सिय्यून के 'अज़ीज़ फ़र्ज़न्द, जो ख़ालिस सोने की तरह थे, कैसे कुम्हार के बनाए हुए बर्तनों के बराबर ठहरे!
3 Even the [female] jackals/wolves feed their pups, but my people act cruelly [toward their children]; they are like [SIM] ostriches in the desert [that abandon their eggs].
गीदड़ भी अपनी छातियों से अपने बच्चों को दूध पिलाते हैं; लेकिन मेरी दुख़्तर — ए — क़ौम वीरानी शुतरमुर्ग़ की तरह बे — रहम है।
4 [My people’s] infants’ tongues cling to the roofs/tops of their mouths because they are [extremely] thirsty; the children plead for some food, but no one gives them [any].
दूध पीते बच्चों की ज़बान प्यास के मारे तालू से जा लगी; बच्चे रोटी मांगते हैं लेकिन उनको कोई नहीं देता।
5 People who [previously] ate fine food are [now] starving in the streets; those who previously lived luxuriously [MTY] [now] paw/dig through rubbish heaps [to find some food].
जो नाज़ पर्वरदा थे, गलियों में तबाह हाल हैं; जो बचपन से अर्ग़वानपोश थे, मज़बलों पर पड़े हैं।
6 [The people of] Sodom were struck with a disaster very suddenly, and there was no one to rescue them; but my people have been punished more severely than [the people of] Sodom were punished.
क्यूँकि मेरी दुख़्तर — ए — क़ौम की बदकिरदारी सदूम के गुनाह से बढ़कर है, जो एक लम्हे में बर्बाद हुआ, और किसी के हाथ उस पर दराज़ न हुए।
7 Our leaders’ [behavior] was [previously] very pure, whiter [and brighter] than snow and milk; their bodies were redder than [red] coral/stones; they were very strong and healthy [MET].
उसके शुर्फ़ा बर्फ़ से ज़्यादा साफ़ और दूध से सफ़ेद थे, उनके बदन मूंगे से ज़्यादा सुर्ख थे, उन की झलक नीलम की सी थी;
8 But now their faces are blacker than soot, and no one recognizes them in the streets. Their skin has shriveled on their bones, and it has become as dry as [SIM] a wooden [stick].
अब उनके चेहरे सियाही से भी काले हैं; वह बाज़ार में पहचाने नहीं जाते; उनका चमड़ा हड्डियों से सटा है; वह सूख कर लकड़ी सा हो गया।
9 It is better to die in a battle [MTY] than to die of hunger. There was no food to harvest in the fields, so the people slowly starved until they died.
तलवार से क़त्ल होने वाले, भूकों मरने वालों से बहतर हैं; क्यूँकि ये खेत का हासिल न मिलने से कुढ़कर हलाक होते हैं।
10 Women who [usually/previously] were very kind have [killed and] cooked their own children; they ate them [when there was no other food], when Jerusalem was surrounded [by enemy soldiers].
रहमदिल 'औरतों के हाथों ने अपने बच्चों को पकाया; मेरी दुख़्तर — ए — क़ौम की तबाही में वही उनकी खू़राक हुए।
11 Yahweh has shown that he was extremely angry; [it is as though] he started/ignited a fire in Jerusalem that burned everything to ashes.
ख़ुदावन्द ने अपने ग़ज़ब को अन्जाम दिया; उसने अपने क़हर — ए — शदीद को नाज़िल किया। और उसने सिय्यून में आग भड़काई जो उसकी बुनियाद को चट कर गई।
12 None of the kings on the earth or anyone else believed that any of our enemies could enter the gates of Jerusalem.
रू — ए — ज़मीन के बादशाह और दुनिया के बाशिन्दे बावर नहीं करते थे, कि मुख़ालिफ़ और दुश्मन येरूशलेम के फाटकों से घुस आएँगे।
13 [But that is what happened]; it happened because the prophets sinned; and the priests [also] sinned by causing innocent people to be executed [MTY].
ये उसके नबियों के गुनाहों और काहिनों की बदकिरदारी की वजह से हुआ, जिन्होंने उसमें सच्चों का खू़न बहाया।
14 The prophets and priests wandered through the streets [as though they were] blind. No one would touch them because their clothes were stained with the blood [of people who had been killed].
वह अन्धों की तरह गलियों में भटकते, और खू़न से आलूदा होते हैं, ऐसा कि कोई उनके लिबास को भी छू नहीं सकता।
15 The people [who were alive] shouted, “Stay away [from us] [DOU]! You are defiled/untouchable! Do not touch us!” So the prophets and priests fled [from Israel], and they wandered around from one country to another, because people [in each country] kept saying to them, “You cannot stay here!”
वह उनको पुकार कर कहते थे, दूर रहो! नापाक, दूर रहो! दूर रहो, छूना मत! “जब वह भाग जाते और आवारा फिरते, तो लोग कहते थे, 'अब ये यहाँ न रहेंगे।”
16 It is Yahweh himself who has scattered them; he no longer is concerned about them. People do not respect [our] priests or leaders.
ख़ुदावन्द के क़हर ने उनको पस्त किया, अब वह उन पर नज़र नहीं करेगा; उन्होंने काहिनों की 'इज़्ज़त न की, और बुज़ुगों का लिहाज़ न किया।
17 We [SYN] continued to look for someone to help [us], but it was useless. We continued to watch to see if one of our allies would save us, but none of the nations that we were waiting for could help [us].
हमारी आँखें बातिल मदद के इन्तिज़ार में थक गईं, हम उस क़ौम का इन्तिज़ार करते रहे जो बचा नहीं सकती थी।
18 [Our] enemies were hunting for us, so we could not [even] walk in our streets [lest they seize us]. We were about to be captured; it was time for us to be killed.
उन्होंने हमारे पाँव ऐसे बाँध रख्खे हैं, कि हम बाहर नहीं निकल सकते; हमारा अन्जाम नज़दीक है, हमारे दिन पूरे हो गए; हमारा वक़्त आ पहुँचा।
19 Those who pursued us were faster than eagles [flying] in the sky. Even if we fled to the mountains or hid in the desert, they [went there ahead of us and] waited [to attack] us.
हम को दौड़ाने वाले आसमान के उक़ाबों से भी तेज़ हैं; उन्होंने पहाड़ों पर हमारा पीछा किया; वह वीराने में हमारी घात में बैठे।
20 [Our king, ] whom Yahweh appointed, was the one who enabled us to remain alive [MTY]; he was the one whom we trusted to protect us [IDM] from [the armies of] other nations. But he was [captured] [like animals are] [MET] caught in a pit.
हमारी ज़िन्दगी का दम ख़ुदावन्द का मम्सूह, उनके गढ़ों में गिरफ़्तार हो गया; जिसकी वजह हम कहते थे, कि उसके साये तले हम क़ौमों के बीच ज़िन्दगी बसर करेंगे।
21 You people of [IDM] Edom and Uz, [you may] be happy [about what is happening to us now], but [Yahweh] will be punishing [MTY] you [also]. You will become drunk and will be ashamed [because your enemies] will have stripped off your clothes.
ऐ दुख़्तर — ए — अदोम, जो 'ऊज़ की सरज़मीन में बसती है, ख़ुश — और — ख़ुर्रम हो; ये प्याला तुझ तक भी पहुँचेगा; तू मस्त और बरहना हो जाएगी।
22 You [people of] [APO] Jerusalem, the time of your being punished will end; Yahweh will not allow you to continue to live in (exile/foreign countries). But [you people of] [APO] Edom, Yahweh will punish [you]; he will reveal the wicked things that you have done.
ऐ दुख़्तर — ए — सिय्यून, तेरी बदकिरदारी की सज़ा तमाम हुई; वह मुझे फिर ग़ुलाम करके नहीं ले जाएगा; ऐ दुख़्तर — ए — अदोम, वह तेरी बदकिरदारी की सज़ा देगा; वह तेरे गुनाह वाश करेगा।
