Lamentations 4
1 [Previously our people were like] [MET] pure gold, but now they are worthless. [Like] [MET] the sacred stones in the temple have been scattered, [our young men have been scattered].
૧સોનું કેવું ઝાંખું પડ્યું છે અને બદલાઈ ગયું છે. પવિત્રસ્થાનના પથ્થરો શેરીઓના ખૂણે વિખેરાયેલા છે.
2 The young men of Jerusalem were as valuable as [MET] large amounts of gold, but now people consider that they are as worthless as [ordinary] clay pots.
૨સિયોનના અમૂલ્ય પુત્રો, જેઓનું મૂલ્ય સોના કરતાં પણ વધારે હતું. પણ તેઓ કુંભારના હાથે ઘડેલા માટલાં જેવા કેમ ગણાય છે?
3 Even the [female] jackals/wolves feed their pups, but my people act cruelly [toward their children]; they are like [SIM] ostriches in the desert [that abandon their eggs].
૩શિયાળ પણ પોતાનાં બચ્ચાંને સ્તનપાન કરાવે છે, પણ મારા લોકોની દીકરીઓ અરણ્યમાંની શાહમૃગી જેવી નિર્દય થઈ છે.
4 [My people’s] infants’ tongues cling to the roofs/tops of their mouths because they are [extremely] thirsty; the children plead for some food, but no one gives them [any].
૪સ્તનપાન કરતાં બાળકોની જીભ તરસને કારણે તાળવે ચોંટી રહે છે; બાળકો રોટલી માગે છે, પણ કોઈ તેમને કશું પણ આપતું નથી.
5 People who [previously] ate fine food are [now] starving in the streets; those who previously lived luxuriously [MTY] [now] paw/dig through rubbish heaps [to find some food].
૫જેઓ મિષ્ટાન્ન ખાતા હતા, તેઓ શેરીઓમાં નિરાધાર થયા છે; જેઓ રેશમી વસ્ત્રો પહેરતા હતા તેઓ ઉકરડા પર ગંદકીમાં આળોટે છે.
6 [The people of] Sodom were struck with a disaster very suddenly, and there was no one to rescue them; but my people have been punished more severely than [the people of] Sodom were punished.
૬મારા લોકોએ સદોમ કરતાં વધારે પાપ કર્યાં છે. સદોમમાં તો એક જ ક્ષણમાં બધું જ નાશ પામ્યું હતું, તેના અન્યાય કરતાં મારા લોકોની દીકરીઓનો અન્યાય મોટો છે.
7 Our leaders’ [behavior] was [previously] very pure, whiter [and brighter] than snow and milk; their bodies were redder than [red] coral/stones; they were very strong and healthy [MET].
૭તેના સરદારો બરફ કરતાં સ્વચ્છ હતા, તેઓ દૂધ કરતાં સફેદ હતા. તેઓનાં શરીરો માણેક કરતાં રાતાં હતાં, તેઓનું રૂપ નીલમ જેવું હતું.
8 But now their faces are blacker than soot, and no one recognizes them in the streets. Their skin has shriveled on their bones, and it has become as dry as [SIM] a wooden [stick].
૮પણ હાલ તેઓનું મુખ કોલસા કરતાં કાળું થયું છે અને તેઓ ફળિયાંઓમાં ઓળખાતા નથી, તેઓની ચામડી તેઓનાં હાડકાંને વળગી રહેલી છે. તે સુકાઈને લાકડા જેવી થઈ ગઈ છે!
9 It is better to die in a battle [MTY] than to die of hunger. There was no food to harvest in the fields, so the people slowly starved until they died.
૯જેઓ તલવારથી માર્યા ગયા તેઓ ભૂખે મરનાર કરતાં સુખી છે, કેમ કે ભૂખ્યા માણસો ખેતરમાં પાક ન થવાથી બળહીન થઈને ઝૂરે છે.
10 Women who [usually/previously] were very kind have [killed and] cooked their own children; they ate them [when there was no other food], when Jerusalem was surrounded [by enemy soldiers].
૧૦દયાળુ સ્ત્રીઓએ પોતાને હાથે પોતાના બાળકોને બાફ્યાં છે, મારા લોકોની દીકરીના નાશને સમયે એ જ તેઓનો ખોરાક હતો.
11 Yahweh has shown that he was extremely angry; [it is as though] he started/ignited a fire in Jerusalem that burned everything to ashes.
૧૧યહોવાહે પોતાનો ક્રોધ પૂરો કર્યો છે. તેમણે પોતાનો ભારે કોપ વરસાવ્યો છે; તેમણે સિયોનમાં તેના પાયાઓને ખાઈ જાય એવો અગ્નિ સળગાવ્યો છે.
12 None of the kings on the earth or anyone else believed that any of our enemies could enter the gates of Jerusalem.
૧૨શત્રુ કે વૈરી યરુશાલેમના પ્રવેશદ્વારમાં પેસશે, એવું પૃથ્વીના રાજાઓ તથા પૃથ્વીના રહેવાસીઓ માનતા નહોતા.
13 [But that is what happened]; it happened because the prophets sinned; and the priests [also] sinned by causing innocent people to be executed [MTY].
૧૩પણ પ્રબોધકોના પાપના કારણે અને યાજકોના અન્યાયને કારણે; તેઓએ તેમાં ન્યાયીઓનું રક્ત વહેવડાવ્યું છે.
14 The prophets and priests wandered through the streets [as though they were] blind. No one would touch them because their clothes were stained with the blood [of people who had been killed].
૧૪તેઓ આંધળાઓની જેમ મહોલ્લે મહોલ્લે ભટક્યા. તેઓ લોહીથી એવા તો લથબથ હતા કે કોઈ તેઓનાં વસ્ત્રોને અડકી શકતું ન હતું.
15 The people [who were alive] shouted, “Stay away [from us] [DOU]! You are defiled/untouchable! Do not touch us!” So the prophets and priests fled [from Israel], and they wandered around from one country to another, because people [in each country] kept saying to them, “You cannot stay here!”
૧૫“હઠો, હે અશુદ્ધો!” એવું લોકોએ તેઓને પોકારીને કહ્યું, “હઠો, હઠો! અને અમને અડકશો નહિ!” તેઓ નાસીને ભટકવા લાગ્યા ત્યારે વિદેશીઓએ કહ્યું, “તેઓ ફરીથી અહીં વિદેશીઓની જેમ મુકામ કરશે નહિ!”
16 It is Yahweh himself who has scattered them; he no longer is concerned about them. People do not respect [our] priests or leaders.
૧૬યહોવાહના કોપે તેઓને એકબીજાથી જુદા પાડ્યા છે; તે તેઓ પર ફરી દ્રષ્ટિ કરશે નહિ. તેઓએ યાજકોનું મન રાખ્યું નહિ અને તેઓએ વડીલો પર કૃપા કરી નહિ.
17 We [SYN] continued to look for someone to help [us], but it was useless. We continued to watch to see if one of our allies would save us, but none of the nations that we were waiting for could help [us].
૧૭અમારી આંખો નિરર્થક સહાયની રાહ જોઈ જોઈને થાકી ગઈ છે, અમને બચાવી શકે એવા પ્રજાની અમે ઘણી અપેક્ષા કરી છે, પણ તે વ્યર્થ થઈ છે.
18 [Our] enemies were hunting for us, so we could not [even] walk in our streets [lest they seize us]. We were about to be captured; it was time for us to be killed.
૧૮દુશ્મનો અમારી પાછળ પડ્યા હતા અને અમે રસ્તે ચાલી નહોતા શકતા. અમારો અંત નજીક આવ્યો હતો અને અમારા દિવસો પૂરા થયા હતા, કેમ કે અમારો અંતકાળ આવ્યો છે.
19 Those who pursued us were faster than eagles [flying] in the sky. Even if we fled to the mountains or hid in the desert, they [went there ahead of us and] waited [to attack] us.
૧૯અમારી પાછળ પડનારાઓ આકાશના ગરુડો કરતાં વેગવાન હતા. પર્વતો પર તેમણે અમારો પીછો કર્યો અને અરણ્યમાં પણ અમારી પર તરાપ મારવા સંતાઈ ગયા.
20 [Our king, ] whom Yahweh appointed, was the one who enabled us to remain alive [MTY]; he was the one whom we trusted to protect us [IDM] from [the armies of] other nations. But he was [captured] [like animals are] [MET] caught in a pit.
૨૦યહોવાહથી અભિષિક્ત થયેલો જે અમારા મુખનો શ્વાસ, અમારો રાજા, જેના વિષે અમે કહ્યું કે, “તેની છાયામાં અમે દેશોમાં જીવીશું, તે તેઓના ફાંદાઓમાં પકડાયો.”
21 You people of [IDM] Edom and Uz, [you may] be happy [about what is happening to us now], but [Yahweh] will be punishing [MTY] you [also]. You will become drunk and will be ashamed [because your enemies] will have stripped off your clothes.
૨૧અરે અદોમની દીકરી, ઉસ દેશમાં રહેનારી, તું હર્ષ તથા આનંદ કર, તારી પાસે પ્યાલો આવશે. તું ચકચૂર થઈને પોતાને નિર્વસ્ત્ર કરીશ.
22 You [people of] [APO] Jerusalem, the time of your being punished will end; Yahweh will not allow you to continue to live in (exile/foreign countries). But [you people of] [APO] Edom, Yahweh will punish [you]; he will reveal the wicked things that you have done.
૨૨રે સિયોનની દીકરી, તારા અન્યાયની સજા પૂરી થઈ છે. તે તને ફરી બંદીવાસમાં લઈ જશે નહિ. રે અદોમની દીકરી, તે તારા અન્યાયની સજા કરશે. તે તારાં પાપ પ્રગટ કરશે.
