Judges 13

1 Again the Israeli people did things that Yahweh said were very evil. So Yahweh enabled the people of Philistia to conquer them. They ruled over the Israelis for 40 years.

एक बार फिर इस्राएल वंशजों ने वह किया, जो याहवेह की नज़रों में गलत था. इस कारण याहवेह ने चालीस सालों के लिए उन्हें फिलिस्तीनियों के वश में कर दिया.

2 There was a man named Manoah from the descendants of Dan who lived in Zorah [town]. His wife was unable to become pregnant, so they had no children.

दान के गोत्र से एक ज़ोराहवासी आदमी था, जिसका नाम मानोहा था. उसकी पत्नी बांझ थी. उससे कोई संतान न हुई थी.

3 One day, Yahweh appeared to Manoah’s wife in the form of an angel, and said to her, “Even though you have not been able to give birth to any children until now, you will soon become pregnant and give birth to a son.

इस स्त्री के सामने याहवेह के दूत ने प्रकट होकर उससे कहा, “सुनो! तुम, जो बांझ हो, जिसके कोई संतान पैदा न हुई है, गर्भधारण करोगी और एक पुत्र को जन्म दोगी.

4 [From now until he is born], you must not drink any wine or other alcoholic/fermented drink, and you must not eat any food that will make you unacceptable to God.

अब तुम्हें यह सावधानी रखनी होगी कि तुम न तो अंगूर का रस पीओगी न दाखमधु, और न ही सांस्कारिक रूप से किसी भी अशुद्ध भोजन खाओगी.

5 After you give birth to your son, you must never allow his hair to be cut. He must be dedicated to God from the day he is born until the day he dies. He is the one who will rescue [many of] the Israeli people from the people of Philistia.”

क्योंकि तुम्हें याद रखना होगा कि तुम गर्भधारण करके एक पुत्र को जन्म दोगी. गर्भधारण के समय से ही वह परमेश्वर के लिए नाज़ीर होगा, इसलिये उसके सिर पर उस्तरा कभी न फेरा जाए. वही इस्राएल को फिलिस्तीनियों से छुड़ाने में नेतृत्व करेगा.”

6 The woman ran and told her husband, “A prophet came to me. He looked awesome, like an angel from God. I did not ask where he came from, and he did not tell me his name.

स्त्री ने जाकर अपने पति को बताया: “परमेश्वर का एक पुरुष मेरे पास आया था. उसका स्वरूप परमेश्वर के एक दूत के समान था—बहुत ही भयानक! न तो मैंने उससे यह पूछा कि वह कहां से आया है, और न ही उसने मुझे अपना नाम बताने की ज़रूरत समझी.

7 But he told me, ‘You will become pregnant and give birth to a son. Until then, you must not drink any wine or any alcoholic/fermented drink, and you must not eat any food that would make you unacceptable to God. Your son must be dedicated to God from the day he is born until the day he dies.’”

उसने मुझे बताया, ‘सुनो! तुम गर्भधारण करके एक पुत्र को जन्म दोगी. अब से तुम अंगूर का रस, दाखमधु और सांस्कारिक रूप से किसी भी अशुद्ध वस्तु का सेवन नहीं करोगी, क्योंकि जन्म से लेकर मृत्यु तक वह बालक परमेश्वर के लिए नाज़ीर होगा.’”

8 Then Manoah prayed to Yahweh, saying, “O Yahweh, I plead with you, allow that prophet whom you sent to us to come again, and teach us how we should raise the boy who will be born to us.”

यह सुन मानोहा ने याहवेह से विनती करते हुए कहा, “प्रभु, आपके द्वारा भेजे गए परमेश्वर के दूत को हमारे पास दोबारा भेज दीजिए, कि आनेवाले शिशु के लिए हमें क्या-क्या करना सही होगा वह हमें सिखा सके.”

9 God did what Manoah asked, and Yahweh again appeared to his wife in the form of an angel, while she was out in the field. But again her husband Manoah was not with her.

परमेश्वर ने मानोहा की विनती सुन ली, और परमेश्वर का दूत दोबारा उस स्त्री के पास आया. इस समय वह खेत में बैठी हुई थी. उसका पति मानोहा उस समय उसके साथ न था.

10 So she quickly ran and said to her husband, “The man who appeared to me a few days ago has come back again!”

सो वह स्त्री दौड़ी-दौड़ी गई और अपने पति को इसकी ख़बर दी, “सुनिए, उस दिन जो व्यक्ति मुझे दिखाई दिया था, मुझ पर दोबारा प्रकट हुआ है.”

11 Manoah ran back with his wife, and asked, “Are you the man who talked with my wife a few days ago?” He replied, “Yes, I am.”

मानोहा उठकर अपनी पत्नी के साथ चला गया. उस व्यक्ति के निकट पहुंचकर उसने प्रश्न किया, “क्या आप ही वह हैं, जिसने इस स्त्री से बातचीत की थी?” “हां, मैं ही हूं.” उसने उत्तर दिया.

12 Manoah asked him, “When what you promised occurs [and my wife gives birth to a son], what rules must he obey, and what work will he do [when he grows up]?”

मानोहा ने आगे पूछा, “जब आपकी कही हुई बातें पूरी होंगी, मेरे पुत्र की जीवनशैली कैसी होगी और क्या होगा उसका कार्य?”

13 Yahweh replied, “Your wife must obey all the instructions I gave her.

याहवेह के दूत ने मानोहा को उत्तर दिया, “मैंने स्त्री से जो कुछ कहा है, वह उसी का ध्यान रखे.

14 [Before the baby is born], she must not eat grapes, or drink wine or any other alcoholic/fermented drink, or eat anything that would make her unacceptable to God.”

वह अंगूर की किसी उपज को न खाए, न अंगूर का रस पिए न दाखमधु, और न सांस्कारिक रूप से किसी भी अशुद्ध वस्तु को खाए. ज़रूरी है कि वह मेरे द्वारा दिए गए आदेशों का पालन करे.”

15 Then Manoah said, “Please stay here until we can kill and cook a young goat for you.”

तब मानोहा ने याहवेह के दूत से विनती की, “हम विनती करके आपको यहां रोकना चाहते हैं कि हम आपके लिए भोजन तैयार करें.”

16 Yahweh replied, “I will stay here, but I will not eat anything. However, you may kill an animal and sacrifice it as a burned offering to Yahweh.” (Manoah did not realize that the [man he thought was an] angel was really Yahweh.)

याहवेह के दूत ने मानोहा से कहा, “मैं रुक तो जाऊंगा, किंतु भोजन नहीं करूंगा. हां, जब तुम भोजन तैयार कर ही रहे हो, तो इसे याहवेह को होमबलि चढ़ा देना.” मानोहा को यह बोध ही न था कि वह याहवेह का दूत था.

17 Then Manoah asked him, “What is your name? When what you have promised happens, we want to honor you.”

मानोहा ने याहवेह के दूत से पूछा, “आपका नाम क्या है? आपकी कही हुई बातें पूरी होने पर हम आपका आदर-सत्कार करना चाहते हैं.”

18 Yahweh replied, “(Why do you ask me my name?/You should not ask me my name.) [RHQ] It is (wonderful/it cannot be understood).”

याहवेह के दूत ने उसे उत्तर दिया, “क्यों पूछ रहे हो मेरा नाम, क्या इसलिये कि तुम्हें यह सब देख हैरानी हो रही है?”

19 Then Manoah killed a young goat and burned it on a rock, along with a grain offering, as a sacrifice to Yahweh. And Yahweh did an amazing thing while Manoah and his wife watched.

इस कारण मानोहा ने उसी चट्टान पर याहवेह को मेमना और अन्‍नबलि चढ़ाई. जब मानोहा और उसकी पत्नी यह सब देख ही रहे थे, याहवेह ने एक अद्भुत काम कर दिखाया:

20 Flames from the altar blazed up toward the sky, and Yahweh ascended in the flames. When Manoah and his wife saw that, they prostrated themselves on the ground.

जब वेदी से लपटें आकाश की ओर उठ रही थी, याहवेह का दूत वेदी की आग की लौ में होकर ऊपर चढ़ गया. यह देख मानोहा और उसकी पत्नी ने दंडवत होकर वंदना की.

21 Although Yahweh did not appear in the form of an angel to Manoah and his wife again, Manoah realized that the [man they thought was an] angel was really Yahweh.

इसके बाद याहवेह का दूत उन पर दोबारा प्रकट न हुआ. अब मानोहा को यह समझ गया कि वह याहवेह का दूत था.

22 So he said, “Now we will die, because we have seen God!”

मानोहा ने अपनी पत्नी से कहा, “अब हमारी मृत्यु तय है, हमने परमेश्वर को साक्षात देख लिया है.”

23 But his wife said, “No, we will not die, because if Yahweh intended to kill us, he would not have accepted the burned offering and the grain offering. And he would not have appeared to us and told us the wonderful thing that would happen to us, and he would not have performed this miracle.”

किंतु उसकी पत्नी ने उससे कहा, “यदि याहवेह का उद्देश्य हमारी मृत्यु ही होती तो वह हमारे द्वारा चढ़ाई होमबलि एवं अन्‍नबलि स्वीकार क्यों करते? या वह क्यों हम पर यह सब प्रकट करते? अथवा वह हमारे सामने इन सब की घोषणा करते?”

24 When their son was born, they named him Samson. Yahweh blessed him as he grew up.

उस स्त्री ने एक पुत्र को जन्म दिया, और उसका नाम शिमशोन रखा. बालक बड़ा हुआ. उस पर याहवेह की कृपादृष्टि थी.

25 And while he was in Mahaneh-Dan, which is between Zorah and Eshtaol [towns], Yahweh’s Spirit began to control him.

उस समय याहवेह का आत्मा उसे माहानेह-दान में, जो ज़ोराह तथा एशताओल के बीच में है, आत्मा उसे उभारने लगे.
