Joshua 21
1 While Eleazar the Supreme Priest and Joshua and the leaders of all the Israeli tribes were at Shiloh, the leaders of the clans of the tribe of Levi went to them and said, “Yahweh commanded Moses that you should give us towns where we can have pasture/fields/grassland for our animals, [but you have not done these things yet].”
Los jefes de familia de los levitas se acercaron al sacerdote Eleazar, a Josué hijo de Nun y a los jefes de familia de las tribus de los hijos de Israel.
Les hablaron en Silo, en la tierra de Canaán, diciendo: “Yahvé ordenó por medio de Moisés que nos dieran ciudades para habitar, con sus tierras de pastoreo para nuestro ganado.”
3 So the Israeli leaders obeyed this command from Yahweh. They agreed to give towns and pasturelands to the tribe of Levi.
Los hijos de Israel dieron a los levitas, de su herencia, según el mandato de Yahvé, estas ciudades con sus tierras de pastoreo.
4 [First] they allotted some cities to the Kohath clans, who belonged to the tribe of Levi. To those who were descendants of the first Supreme Priest Aaron, they allotted 13 towns in the areas that had been allotted to the tribes of Judah, Simeon, and Benjamin.
La suerte salió para las familias de los coatitas. Los hijos del sacerdote Aarón, que eran de los levitas, tuvieron trece ciudades por sorteo de la tribu de Judá, de la tribu de los simeonitas y de la tribu de Benjamín.
5 To the other members of the Kohath clan they allotted ten cities in the areas that had been allotted to the tribes of Ephraim, Dan, and the part of the tribe of Manasseh [that lives on the west side of the Jordan River].
Los demás hijos de Coat tenían diez ciudades por sorteo de las familias de la tribu de Efraín, de la tribu de Dan y de la media tribu de Manasés.
6 The people from the Gershon clans were allotted 13 cities in the areas that had been allotted to the tribes of Issachar, Asher, Naphtali, and the part of the tribe of Manasseh that lives on the east side of the Jordan [River].
Los hijos de Gersón tuvieron trece ciudades por sorteo de las familias de la tribu de Isacar, de la tribu de Aser, de la tribu de Neftalí y de la media tribu de Manasés en Basán.
7 The people from the Merari clans were allotted twelve cities in the areas that had been allotted to the tribes of Reuben, Gad, and Zebulun.
Los hijos de Merari, según sus familias, tenían doce ciudades de la tribu de Rubén, de la tribu de Gad y de la tribu de Zabulón.
8 So the Israeli leaders gave cities and pastureland to the tribe of Levi, just as Yahweh had commanded Moses that they should do.
Los hijos de Israel dieron estas ciudades con sus tierras de pastoreo por sorteo a los levitas, como lo ordenó el Señor por medio de Moisés.
9 These are the names of the cities and surrounding pasturelands that were allotted to them, that were in the areas where the tribes of Judah and Simeon lived.
Dieron de la tribu de los hijos de Judá, y de la tribu de los hijos de Simeón, estas ciudades que se mencionan por su nombre:
10 First, they allotted cities to the members of the Kohath clans.
y fueron para los hijos de Aarón, de las familias de los coatitas, que eran de los hijos de Leví; porque de ellos fue la primera suerte.
11 They allotted to them Kiriath-Arba (which is [now named] Hebron), in the hilly area of Judah. Arba received its name because Arba was the ancestor of [the giants of] the Anak people-group.
Les dieron Quiriat Arba, llamada así por el padre de Anac (también llamada Hebrón), en la región montañosa de Judá, con sus tierras de pastoreo alrededor.
12 But the fields and villages surrounding Arba had already been allotted to Caleb.
Pero dieron los campos de la ciudad y sus aldeas a Caleb, hijo de Jefone, para su posesión.
13 They allotted to them Hebron, which was one of the cities to which people could run/escape to be safe/protected. They also allotted to the Kohath clan the cities of Libnah,
A los hijos del sacerdote Aarón les dieron Hebrón con sus tierras de pastoreo, la ciudad de refugio para el matador de hombres, Libna con sus tierras de pastoreo,
14 Jattir, Eshtemoa,
Jattir con sus tierras de pastoreo, Estemoa con sus tierras de pastoreo,
15 Holon, Debir,
Holón con sus tierras de pastoreo, Debir con sus tierras de pastoreo,
16 Ain, Juttah, and Beth-Shemesh. Altogether they were allotted those nine cities which were located in the areas that had been allotted to the tribes of Judah and Simeon.
Ain con sus tierras de pastoreo, Jutá con sus tierras de pastoreo y Bet Semes con sus tierras de pastoreo: nueve ciudades de esas dos tribus.
17 The Kohath clan was also allotted these four cities: Gibeon, Geba,
De la tribu de Benjamín, Gabaón con sus tierras de pastoreo, Geba con sus tierras de pastoreo,
18 Anathoth, and Almon. Those cities were in the area that had been allotted to the tribe of Benjamin.
Anatot con sus tierras de pastoreo y Almón con sus tierras de pastoreo: cuatro ciudades.
19 Altogether those 13 towns and surrounding pastureland were allotted to the priests who were descended from Aaron.
Todas las ciudades de los hijos de Aarón, los sacerdotes, eran trece ciudades con sus tierras de pastoreo.
20 The other members the Kohath clan were allotted four cities and the surrounding pastureland in the area that had been allotted to the tribe of Ephraim.
Las familias de los hijos de Coat, los levitas, el resto de los hijos de Coat, tuvieron las ciudades de su lote de la tribu de Efraín.
21 Those cities were Shechem (which was one of the cities to which people could run/escape to be safe/protected), Gezer,

22 Kibzaim, and Beth-Horon.

23 They were also allotted four cities and surrounding pastureland in the area that had been allotted to the tribe of Dan. Those cities were Eltekeh, Gibbethon,

24 Aijalon, and Gath-Rimmon.
Ajalón con sus tierras de pastoreo, Gat Rimón con sus tierras de pastoreo: cuatro ciudades.
25 They were also allotted two towns and surrounding pastureland that had been allotted to [the] part of the tribe of Manasseh [that lived on the west side of the Jordan River]. Those cities were Taanach and Gath-Rimmon.
De la media tribu de Manasés, Taanac con sus tierras de pastoreo y Gat Rimón con sus tierras de pastoreo: dos ciudades.
26 Those were the ten cities and surrounding pastureland that were allotted to the other members of the Kohath clan.
Todas las ciudades de las familias del resto de los hijos de Coat fueron diez con sus tierras de pastoreo.
27 They also allotted towns and the surrounding pastureland to the Gershon clans. Those clans were also descended from Levi. They were allotted two cities from the area that had been allotted to the tribe of Manasseh [that is on the east side of the Jordan River]. Those cities were Golan in the Bashan region, which was one of the cities to which people could run/escape to be safe/protected, and Be-Eshtarah.
Dieron a los hijos de Gersón, de las familias de los levitas, de la media tribu de Manasés, Golán en Basán con sus tierras de pastoreo, la ciudad de refugio para el matador de hombres, y Be Esterá con sus tierras de pastoreo: dos ciudades.
28 From the area that had been allotted to the tribe of Issachar they were allotted four cities. Those cities were Kishion, Daberath,

29 Jarmuth, and En-Gannim.

30 From the area that had been allotted to the tribe of Asher they were allotted four cities. Those cities were Mishal, Abdon,
De la tribu de Aser, Mishal con sus tierras de pastoreo, Abdón con sus tierras de pastoreo,
31 Helkath, and Rehob.
Helkat con sus tierras de pastoreo, y Rehob con sus tierras de pastoreo: cuatro ciudades.
32 From the area that had been allotted to the tribe of Naphtali they were allotted three cities. Those cities were Kedesh in the Galilee region (it was one of the cities to which people could run/escape to be safe/protected), Hammoth-Dor, and Kartan.
De la tribu de Neftalí, Cedes en Galilea con sus tierras de pastoreo, la ciudad de refugio para el matador de hombres, Hamotdor con sus tierras de pastoreo y Kartán con sus tierras de pastoreo: tres ciudades.
33 So altogether the Gershon clans were allotted 13 cities and the surrounding pasturelands.
Todas las ciudades de los gersonitas, según sus familias, eran trece ciudades con sus tierras de pastoreo.
34 The other descendants of Levi, the ones who belonged to the Merari clans, were also allotted towns and their surrounding pasturelands. From the area that had been allotted to the tribe of Zebulun they were allotted four cities. They were Jokneam, Kartah,
A las familias de los hijos de Merari, el resto de los levitas, de la tribu de Zabulón, Jocneam con sus tierras de pastoreo, Kartah con sus tierras de pastoreo,
35 Dimnah, and Nahalal.

36 From the area that had been allotted to the tribe of Reuben they were allotted four cities. They were Bezer, Jahaz,
De la tribu de Rubén, Beser con sus tierras de pastoreo, Jahaz con sus tierras de pastoreo,
37 Kedemoth, and Mephaath.
Cedemot con sus tierras de pastoreo, y Mefat con sus tierras de pastoreo: cuatro ciudades.
38 From the area that had been allotted to the tribe of Gad they were allotted four cities. They were Ramoth, which was one of the cities in the Gilead region to which people could run/escape to be safe/protected, Mahanaim,
De la tribu de Gad, Ramot en Galaad con sus tierras de pastoreo, la ciudad de refugio para el matador de hombres, y Mahanaim con sus tierras de pastoreo,
39 Heshbon, and Jazer.
Hesbón con sus tierras de pastoreo, Jazer con sus tierras de pastoreo: cuatro ciudades en total.
40 Altogether twelve cities were allotted to the Merari clans.
Todas estas fueron las ciudades de los hijos de Merari según sus familias, el resto de las familias de los levitas. Su suerte fue de doce ciudades.
41 So altogether 48 cities were allotted to the tribe of Levi,
Todas las ciudades de los levitas entre las posesiones de los hijos de Israel eran cuarenta y ocho ciudades con sus tierras de pastoreo.
42 and each city had surrounding pastureland.
Cada una de estas ciudades incluía sus tierras de pastoreo alrededor de ellas. Así fue con todas estas ciudades.
43 In that way Yahweh allotted to the Israeli people all the land that he had promised to give to their/our ancestors. The Israeli people took control of [most of] those areas and started to live there.
El Señor dio a Israel toda la tierra que había jurado dar a sus padres. La poseyeron y vivieron en ella.
44 Just like he had promised our ancestors, Yahweh allowed them/us to have peace with the enemies that surrounded them/us. Yahweh enabled the Israelis/us to defeat their/our enemies.
El Señor les dio descanso en todo el territorio, según lo que había jurado a sus padres. Ni un solo hombre de todos sus enemigos se presentó ante ellos. El Señor entregó a todos sus enemigos en sus manos.
45 Yahweh did all the things that he had promised to the Israeli people/us. Everything that he said would happen did happen.
No faltó nada de lo bueno que el Señor había dicho a la casa de Israel. Todo se cumplió.
