Joshua 21
1 While Eleazar the Supreme Priest and Joshua and the leaders of all the Israeli tribes were at Shiloh, the leaders of the clans of the tribe of Levi went to them and said, “Yahweh commanded Moses that you should give us towns where we can have pasture/fields/grassland for our animals, [but you have not done these things yet].”
লেবীয়দের পিতৃকুলপতিরা যাজক ইলীয়াসর, নূনের ছেলে যিহোশূয় ও ইস্রায়েলী অন্যান্য গোষ্ঠীপ্রধানদের কাছে এলেন।
তাঁরা কনান দেশের শীলোতে তাঁদের বললেন, “সদাপ্রভু মোশির মাধ্যমে আদেশ দিয়েছিলেন যে, আপনি আমাদের বসবাস করার জন্য নগর ও আমাদের পশুপালের জন্য চারণভূমি দেবেন।”
3 So the Israeli leaders obeyed this command from Yahweh. They agreed to give towns and pasturelands to the tribe of Levi.
তাই, সদাপ্রভুর আদেশানুসারে, ইস্রায়েলীরা তাদের উত্তরাধিকার থেকে এই সমস্ত নগর ও চারণভূমি লেবীয়দের দান করল:
4 [First] they allotted some cities to the Kohath clans, who belonged to the tribe of Levi. To those who were descendants of the first Supreme Priest Aaron, they allotted 13 towns in the areas that had been allotted to the tribes of Judah, Simeon, and Benjamin.
প্রথম গুটিকাপাতের দানটি তাদের বংশানুসারে উঠল কহাতীয় গোষ্ঠীর নামে। লেবীয়েরা ছিল যাজক হারোণের বংশধর। তাদের যিহূদা, শিমিয়োন ও বিন্যামীন গোষ্ঠীর বংশধরদের থেকে তেরোটি নগর দেওয়া হল।
5 To the other members of the Kohath clan they allotted ten cities in the areas that had been allotted to the tribes of Ephraim, Dan, and the part of the tribe of Manasseh [that lives on the west side of the Jordan River].
কহাতের অবশিষ্ট বংশধরদের জন্য ইফ্রয়িম, দান ও মনঃশির অর্ধ গোষ্ঠীর বংশধরদের থেকে দশটি নগর দেওয়া হল।
6 The people from the Gershon clans were allotted 13 cities in the areas that had been allotted to the tribes of Issachar, Asher, Naphtali, and the part of the tribe of Manasseh that lives on the east side of the Jordan [River].
গের্শোনের বংশধরদের দেওয়া হল তেরোটি নগর। তারা ইষাখর, আশের, নপ্তালি ও বাশনের মনঃশির অর্ধ গোষ্ঠীর বংশধরদের কাছ থেকে এই নগরগুলি পেল।
7 The people from the Merari clans were allotted twelve cities in the areas that had been allotted to the tribes of Reuben, Gad, and Zebulun.
মরারির বংশধরেরা রূবেণ, গাদ ও সবূলূন গোষ্ঠী থেকে বংশ অনুসারে বারোটি নগর পেল।
8 So the Israeli leaders gave cities and pastureland to the tribe of Levi, just as Yahweh had commanded Moses that they should do.
এইভাবে ইস্রায়েলীরা চারণভূমিসহ এই সমস্ত নগর লেবীয়দের দিল, যেমন সদাপ্রভু মোশির মাধ্যমে আদেশ দিয়েছিলেন।
9 These are the names of the cities and surrounding pasturelands that were allotted to them, that were in the areas where the tribes of Judah and Simeon lived.
যিহূদা ও শিমিয়োন গোষ্ঠী থেকে তারা এই নামবিশিষ্ট নগরগুলি বরাদ্দ করল।
10 First, they allotted cities to the members of the Kohath clans.
এই নগরগুলি হারোণের সেই বংশধরদের দেওয়া হল, যারা ছিল লেবীয় গোষ্ঠীভুক্ত কহাতীয় গোত্র, যেহেতু প্রথম গুটিকাপাতের দান তাদের নামেই উঠেছিল:
11 They allotted to them Kiriath-Arba (which is [now named] Hebron), in the hilly area of Judah. Arba received its name because Arba was the ancestor of [the giants of] the Anak people-group.
যিহূদার পার্বত্য প্রদেশে তারা চারণভূমিসহ তাদের কিরিয়ৎ-অর্ব (অর্থাৎ, হিব্রোণ) নগরটি দিল। (অর্ব ছিল অনাকীয়দের পূর্বপুরুষ)
12 But the fields and villages surrounding Arba had already been allotted to Caleb.
কিন্তু ওই নগরের মাঠগুলি ও চারপাশের সব গ্রাম তারা উত্তরাধিকারস্বরূপ যিফূন্নির ছেলে কালেবকে দিয়েছিল।
13 They allotted to them Hebron, which was one of the cities to which people could run/escape to be safe/protected. They also allotted to the Kohath clan the cities of Libnah,
এভাবে তারা যাজক হারোণের বংশধরদের দিল চারণভূমিসহ হিব্রোণ (নগরটি ছিল নরহত্যার দায়ে অভিযুক্তের জন্য আশ্রয়-নগর), লিব্না,
14 Jattir, Eshtemoa,
যত্তীর, ইষ্টিমোয়,
15 Holon, Debir,
হোলোন, দবীর,
16 Ain, Juttah, and Beth-Shemesh. Altogether they were allotted those nine cities which were located in the areas that had been allotted to the tribes of Judah and Simeon.
ঐন্, যুটা ও বেত-শেমশ—এই দুই গোষ্ঠী থেকে নয়টি নগর দেওয়া হল।
17 The Kohath clan was also allotted these four cities: Gibeon, Geba,
আর বিন্যামীন গোষ্ঠী থেকে তারা দিল: চারণভূমিসহ গিবিয়োন, গেবা,
18 Anathoth, and Almon. Those cities were in the area that had been allotted to the tribe of Benjamin.
অনাথোৎ ও অল্মোন—এই চারটি নগর।
19 Altogether those 13 towns and surrounding pastureland were allotted to the priests who were descended from Aaron.
চারণভূমিসহ মোট তেরোটি নগর হারোণের বংশধর যাজকদের অধিকার হল।
20 The other members the Kohath clan were allotted four cities and the surrounding pastureland in the area that had been allotted to the tribe of Ephraim.
লেবীয় গোষ্ঠীভুক্ত কহাতীয় গোত্রের অবশিষ্টদের জন্য ইফ্রয়িম গোষ্ঠী থেকে নগর বরাদ্দ করা হল:
21 Those cities were Shechem (which was one of the cities to which people could run/escape to be safe/protected), Gezer,
ইফ্রয়িমের পার্বত্য প্রদেশে তাদের দেওয়া হল: চারণভূমিসহ শিখিম (নরহত্যার দায়ে অভিযুক্তের জন্য একটি আশ্রয়-নগর) ও গেষর,
22 Kibzaim, and Beth-Horon.
কিবসয়িম ও বেথ-হোরোণ—মোট চারটি নগর।
23 They were also allotted four cities and surrounding pastureland in the area that had been allotted to the tribe of Dan. Those cities were Eltekeh, Gibbethon,
সেই সঙ্গে দান গোষ্ঠী থেকে তারা পেল: চারণভূমিসহ ইল্তকী, গিব্বথোন,
24 Aijalon, and Gath-Rimmon.
অয়ালোন ও গাৎ-রিম্মোণ—এই চারটি নগর।
25 They were also allotted two towns and surrounding pastureland that had been allotted to [the] part of the tribe of Manasseh [that lived on the west side of the Jordan River]. Those cities were Taanach and Gath-Rimmon.
মনঃশির অর্ধ গোষ্ঠী থেকে তারা পেল: চারণভূমিসহ তানক ও গাৎ-রিম্মোণ—এই দুটি নগর।
26 Those were the ten cities and surrounding pastureland that were allotted to the other members of the Kohath clan.
চারণভূমিসহ এই দশটি নগর কহাতীয়দের অবশিষ্ট গোত্রদের দেওয়া হল।
27 They also allotted towns and the surrounding pastureland to the Gershon clans. Those clans were also descended from Levi. They were allotted two cities from the area that had been allotted to the tribe of Manasseh [that is on the east side of the Jordan River]. Those cities were Golan in the Bashan region, which was one of the cities to which people could run/escape to be safe/protected, and Be-Eshtarah.
লেবীয় গোষ্ঠীভুক্ত গের্শোনীয় গোত্রকে এই নগরগুলি দেওয়া হল: মনঃশির অর্ধ গোষ্ঠী থেকে: চারণভূমিসহ বাশনের গোলন (নরহত্যার দায়ে অভিযুক্তের জন্য একটি আশ্রয়-নগর) ও বে-এস্তেরা—এই দুটি নগর;
28 From the area that had been allotted to the tribe of Issachar they were allotted four cities. Those cities were Kishion, Daberath,
ইষাখর গোষ্ঠী থেকে দেওয়া হল: চারণভূমিসহ কিশিয়োন, দাবরৎ,
29 Jarmuth, and En-Gannim.
যর্মুৎ ও ঐন-গন্নীম—এই চারটি নগর;
30 From the area that had been allotted to the tribe of Asher they were allotted four cities. Those cities were Mishal, Abdon,
আশের গোষ্ঠী থেকে দেওয়া হল: চারণভূমিসহ মিশাল, আব্দোন,
31 Helkath, and Rehob.
হিল্কৎ ও রাহব—এই চারটি নগর;
32 From the area that had been allotted to the tribe of Naphtali they were allotted three cities. Those cities were Kedesh in the Galilee region (it was one of the cities to which people could run/escape to be safe/protected), Hammoth-Dor, and Kartan.
নপ্তালি গোষ্ঠী থেকে দেওয়া হল: চারণভূমিসহ গালীলের কেদশ (নরহত্যার দায়ে অভিযুক্তের জন্য একটি আশ্রয়-নগর), হম্মোৎ-দোর ও কর্তন—এই তিনটি নগর।
33 So altogether the Gershon clans were allotted 13 cities and the surrounding pasturelands.
গের্শোনীয় গোত্রদের জন্য ছিল চারণভূমিসহ মোট তেরোটি নগর।
34 The other descendants of Levi, the ones who belonged to the Merari clans, were also allotted towns and their surrounding pasturelands. From the area that had been allotted to the tribe of Zebulun they were allotted four cities. They were Jokneam, Kartah,
(অবশিষ্ট লেবীয় গোষ্ঠীর মধ্যে) মরারীয় গোষ্ঠীকে দেওয়া হল: সবূলূন গোষ্ঠী থেকে: চারণভূমিসহ যক্নিয়াম, কার্তা,
35 Dimnah, and Nahalal.
দিম্না ও নহলাল—এই চারটি নগর;
36 From the area that had been allotted to the tribe of Reuben they were allotted four cities. They were Bezer, Jahaz,
রূবেণ গোষ্ঠী থেকে: চারণভূমিসহ বেৎসর, যহস,
37 Kedemoth, and Mephaath.
কদেমোৎ ও মেফাৎ—এই চারটি নগর;
38 From the area that had been allotted to the tribe of Gad they were allotted four cities. They were Ramoth, which was one of the cities in the Gilead region to which people could run/escape to be safe/protected, Mahanaim,
গাদ গোষ্ঠী থেকে: চারণভূমিসহ গিলিয়দের রামোৎ (নরহত্যার দায়ে অভিযুক্তের জন্য একটি আশ্রয়-নগর), মহনয়িম,
39 Heshbon, and Jazer.
হিষ্বোন ও যাসের—মোট এই চারটি নগর।
40 Altogether twelve cities were allotted to the Merari clans.
লেবীয় গোষ্ঠীভুক্ত অবশিষ্ট মরারীয় গোত্রগুলির জন্য বণ্টন করা হল এই বারোটি নগর।
41 So altogether 48 cities were allotted to the tribe of Levi,
ইস্রায়েলীদের দখলীকৃত এলাকা থেকে লেবীয়দের জন্য নির্দিষ্ট চারণভূমিসহ নগরগুলির সংখ্যা মোট আটচল্লিশটি।
42 and each city had surrounding pastureland.
এসব নগরের চারপাশে ছিল চারণভূমি। সমস্ত নগরের ক্ষেত্রেই একথা সত্যি ছিল।
43 In that way Yahweh allotted to the Israeli people all the land that he had promised to give to their/our ancestors. The Israeli people took control of [most of] those areas and started to live there.
এভাবে সদাপ্রভু ইস্রায়েলের পূর্বপুরুষদের কাছে যে দেশ দেওয়ার প্রতিশ্রুতি দিয়েছিলেন, তা তাদের দিলেন ও তারা ওই দেশের দখল নিয়ে সেখানে বসতি স্থাপন করল।
44 Just like he had promised our ancestors, Yahweh allowed them/us to have peace with the enemies that surrounded them/us. Yahweh enabled the Israelis/us to defeat their/our enemies.
সদাপ্রভু চারদিক থেকে তাদের বিশ্রাম দিলেন, যেমন তিনি তাদের পূর্বপুরুষদের কাছে শপথ করেছিলেন। তাদের কোনও শত্রু তাদের সামনে দাঁড়াতে পারল না। সদাপ্রভু তাদের সব শত্রুকে তাদের হাতে সমর্পণ করলেন।
45 Yahweh did all the things that he had promised to the Israeli people/us. Everything that he said would happen did happen.
ইস্রায়েল কুলকে সদাপ্রভুর দেওয়া সমস্ত সুন্দর প্রতিশ্রুতির মধ্যে একটিও ব্যর্থ হয়নি; সব প্রতিশ্রুতিই পূর্ণ হল।
