Job 1
1 In the land named Uz, there was a man named Job. He was a very godly/righteous [DOU] man, who greatly respected/revered God and always avoided doing evil things.
उज़ देश में अय्योब नामक एक व्यक्ति थे. वे सीधे, खरे, परमेश्वर के श्रद्धा युक्त तथा बुराई से दूर थे.
2 He had seven sons and three daughters.
उनके सात पुत्र एवं तीन पुत्रियां थीं,
3 He owned 7,000 sheep, 3,000 camels, 1,000 oxen, and 500 female donkeys. He also had many servants. He was the richest man in all the area east [of the Jordan River].
उनके पास सात हजार भेड़ें, तीन हजार ऊंट, पांच सौ जोड़े बैल, पांच सौ गधियां तथा अनेक-अनेक दास-दासियां थीं. पूर्वी देशों में कोई भी उनके तुल्य धनवान न था.
4 Each year, Job’s sons made feasts [in their houses] to celebrate their birthdays. Whenever each one made a feast, he would invite [all his brothers and] his three sisters to come and eat together.
उनके पुत्र अपने-अपने जन्मदिन पर अपने घरों में दावत का आयोजन करते थे, जिसमें वे अपनी तीनों बहनों को भी आमंत्रित किया करते थे, कि वे भी भोज में सम्मिलित हों.
5 When each celebration ended, Job would summon them. He would get up early in the morning and kill animals and burn them on the altar as sacrifices, one for each of his children. He said to himself, “Perhaps [one of] my sons has sinned and said something evil about God in his heart.”
जब उत्सवों का समय समाप्त हो जाता था, तब अय्योब अपनी इन संतानों को अपने यहां बुलाकर उन्हें पवित्र किया करते थे. वह बड़े भोर को उठकर उनकी संख्या के अनुरूप होमबलि अर्पित करते थे. उनकी सोच थी, “संभव है मेरे पुत्रों से कोई पाप हुआ हो और उन्होंने अपने हृदय में ही परमेश्वर के प्रति अनिष्ट किया हो और परमेश्वर को छोड़ दिया हो.” अय्योब यह सब नियमपूर्वक किया करते थे.
6 One day, the angels came and gathered together in front of Yahweh, and Satan came too.
यह वह दिन था, जब परमेश्वर के पुत्र ने स्वयं को याहवेह के सामने प्रस्तुत किया और शैतान भी उनके साथ आया हुआ था.
7 Yahweh asked Satan, “Where have you come from?” Satan replied, “I have come from the earth, where I been traveling back and forth, seeing what is happening.”
याहवेह ने शैतान से पूछा, “तुम कहां से आ रहे हो?” शैतान ने याहवेह को उत्तर दिया, “पृथ्वी पर इधर-उधर घूमते-फिरते हुए तथा डोलते-डालते आया हूं.”
8 Yahweh said to Satan, “Have you (noticed/thought about) my [faithful] servant Job? He is very godly/righteous [DOU], he greatly respects/reveres me, and he always avoids doing evil things. There is no one else on the earth like him.”
याहवेह ने शैतान से प्रश्न किया, “क्या तुमने अय्योब, मेरे सेवक पर ध्यान दिया है? कि सारी पृथ्वी पर कोई भी उसके तुल्य नहीं है. वह सीधा, खरा, परमेश्वर के प्रति श्रद्धा युक्त तथा बुराई से दूर है.”
9 Satan replied to Yahweh, “[What you say is true], but Job greatly respects you [only] because of what [you have done for him] [RHQ].
शैतान ने याहवेह से पूछा, “क्या अय्योब परमेश्वर के प्रति श्रद्धा बिना लाभ के मानता है?
10 You have always [RHQ] protected [MET] him and his family and everything that he owns. You have made him very prosperous/rich. He has livestock all over this land.
आपने उसके घर के और उसकी संपत्ति के चारों ओर अपनी सुरक्षा का बाड़ा बांध रखा है? आपने उसके श्रम को समृद्ध किया है. उसकी संपत्ति इस देश में फैलती जा रही है.
11 But if you take away [MTY] everything that he has, he will curse you openly. [IDM]”
आप हाथ बढ़ाकर उसकी समस्त संपत्ति को छुएं, वह निश्चय आपके सामने आपकी निंदा करने लगेगा.”
12 Yahweh replied to Satan, “(All right/Okay), I will permit you to take away everything that he has. But do not harm him.” Then Satan left, [and he prepared to cause many disastrous things to happen to Job].
याहवेह ने शैतान से कहा, “अच्छा सुनो, उसकी समस्त संपत्ति पर मैं तुम्हें अधिकार दे रहा हूं, मात्र ध्यान दो, तुम उसको स्पर्श मत करना.” शैतान याहवेह की उपस्थिति से चला गया.
13 One day [after that], Job’s sons and daughters were feasting and drinking wine at the home of their oldest brother.
जिस दिन अय्योब के पुत्र-पुत्रियां ज्येष्ठ भाई के घर पर उत्सव में व्यस्त थे,
14 While they were doing that, a messenger arrived at Job’s home and said to him, “While your oxen were plowing [the fields] and the donkeys were grazing nearby,
एक दूत ने अय्योब को सूचित किया, “बैल हल चला रहे थे तथा निकट ही गधे चर रहे थे,
15 a group of men from [the] Sheba [area] came and attacked us. They killed all your servants [who were working in the fields] and took away all the oxen and donkeys! I am the only one who escaped to [come and] tell you what happened.”
कि शीबाईयों ने आक्रमण किया और इन्हें लूटकर ले गए. उन्होंने तो हमारे दास-दासियों का तलवार से संहार कर दिया है, मात्र मैं बचते हुए आपको सूचित करने आया हूं!”
16 While he was still talking to Job, another messenger arrived. He said to Job, “Lightning from the sky [MTY] struck and killed all the sheep and all the men who were taking care of the sheep! I am the only one who escaped to [come and] tell you [what happened].”
अभी उसका कहना पूर्ण भी न हुआ था, कि एक अन्य दूत ने आकर सूचना दी, “आकाश से परमेश्वर की ज्वाला प्रकट हुई और हमारी भेड़ें एवं दास-दासियां भस्म हो गए, मैं बचते हुए आपको सूचित करने आया हूं!”
17 While he was still talking to Job, another messenger arrived. He said to Job, “Three groups [of robbers/bandits] from Chaldea [land] came and attacked us. They stole all the camels and killed all the men who were taking care of them. I am the only one who escaped to [come and] tell you [what happened].”
उसका कहना अभी पूर्ण भी न हुआ था, कि एक अन्य दूत भी वहां आ पहुंचा और कहने लगा, “कसदियों ने तीन दल बनाकर ऊंटों पर छापा मारा और उन्हें ले गए. दास-दासियों का उन्होंने तलवार से संहार कर दिया है, मात्र मैं बचते हुए आपको सूचित करने आया हूं!”
18 While he was still talking to Job, another messenger arrived and reported this to Job: “Your sons and daughters were feasting in the home of their oldest brother.
वह अभी कह ही रहा था, कि एक अन्य दूत भी वहां आ पहुंचा और उन्हें सूचित करने लगा, “आपके ज्येष्ठ पुत्र के घर पर आपके पुत्र-पुत्रियां उत्सव में खा-पी रहे थे,
19 Suddenly a (very strong wind/tornado) came from the desert and struck the house. The house collapsed on your sons and daughters and killed them all! I am the only one who escaped to [come and] tell you [what happened].”
कि एक बड़ी आंधी चली, जिसका प्रारंभ रेगिस्तान क्षेत्र से हुआ था, इसने उस घर पर चारों ओर से ऐसा प्रहार किया कि दब कर समस्त युवाओं की मृत्यु हो गई. मात्र मैं बचकर आपको सूचना देने आया हूं!”
20 Job stood up, and tore his robe and shaved his head [because he was very sad/grieved]. Then he prostrated himself on the ground [to worship God].
अय्योब यह सुन उठे, और अपने वस्त्र फाड़ डाले, अपने सिर का मुंडन किया तथा भूमि पर दंडवत किया.
21 He said, “When I was born, I had no clothes on. When I die, I will not take any clothes with me. Yahweh gave me [everything that I possessed], and [now] he has taken it all away. But (we should/I will) always praise Yahweh [anyway]! [MTY]”
उनके वचन थे: “माता के गर्भ से मैं नंगा आया था, और मैं नंगा ही चला जाऊंगा. याहवेह ने दिया था, याहवेह ने ले लिया; धन्य है याहवेह का नाम.”
22 In spite of all these [things that happened to] Job, [he] did not sin by saying that what God had done was wrong.
समस्त घटनाक्रम में अय्योब ने न तो कोई पाप किया और न ही उन्होंने परमेश्वर की किसी भी प्रकार की निंदा की.
