Job 8
1 Then Bildad, from [the] Shuah [area], spoke to Job. He said,
Alors Bildad Suhite prit la parole, et dit:
2 “Job, how much longer will you talk like this? What you say is [only] hot air.
Jusqu'à quand parleras-tu ainsi, et les paroles de ta bouche seront-elles comme un vent impétueux?
3 Almighty God certainly never does [RHQ] what is unfair/unjust. He always does [LIT] what is right/fair.
Le [Dieu] Fort renverserait-il le droit, et le Tout-puissant renverserait-il la justice?
4 So, it is evident that your children have sinned against him, therefore he has caused them to be punished for evil things that they have done.
Si tes enfants ont péché contre lui, il les a aussi livrés en la main de leur crime.
5 But, if you will [now] earnestly request [DOU] Almighty [God] to help you,
[Mais] si tu recherches le [Dieu] Fort de bon matin, et que tu demandes grâce au Tout-puissant;
6 and if you are pure and honest/righteous, he will surely do something good for you and reward you by giving your family back to you and enabling you to prosper.
Si tu es pur et droit, certainement il se réveillera pour toi, et fera prospérer la demeure de ta justice.
7 And even though you [think that you] were not very prosperous/wealthy before, during the last part of your life you will become very wealthy.
Et ton commencement aura été petit, mais ta dernière condition sera beaucoup accrue.
8 “I request you to think about what happened long ago and consider what our ancestors found out.
Car, je te prie, enquiers-toi des générations précédentes, et applique-toi à t'informer soigneusement de leurs pères.
9 [It seems as though] we were born only yesterday and we know very little [HYP]; our time here on the earth [disappears quickly, like] a shadow [MET].
Car nous ne sommes que du jour d'hier, et nous ne savons rien; parce que nos jours sont sur la terre comme une ombre.
10 So, why do you not allow your ancestors to teach you and tell you something? Allow them to tell you from what they learned!
Ceux-là ne t'enseigneront-ils pas, ne te parleront-ils pas, et ne tireront-ils pas des discours de leur cœur?
11 Papyrus can certainly not [RHQ] grow in places where there is no marsh/swamp; reeds certainly cannot [RHQ] flourish/grow where there is no water.
Le jonc montera-t-il sans qu'il y ait du limon? l'herbe des marais croîtra-t-elle sans eau?
12 [If they do not have enough water], while they are still blossoming, they wither more quickly than other plants wither.
Ne se flétrira-t-elle pas même avant toute herbe, bien qu'elle soit encore en sa verdure, et qu'on ne la cueille point?
13 Those who do not pay attention to what God says are like those [reeds]; godless people stop confidently expecting [that good things will happen to them].
Il en sera ainsi des voies de tous ceux qui oublient le [Dieu] Fort; et l'espérance de l'hypocrite périra.
14 The things they confidently expect to happen do not happen; things they trust [will help them] are [as fragile as] [MET] a spider’s web.
Son espérance sera frustrée, et sa confiance sera [comme] une toile d'araignée.
15 If they lean against a house (OR, trust in their wealth; OR, lean on a spider web), it does not (endure/protect them) [LIT]; they cling to things [to be protected], but those things do not remain firm.
Il s'appuiera sur sa maison, et elle n'aura point de fermeté; il la saisira de la main, et elle ne demeurera point debout.
16 Godless people [are like plants] [MET] that are watered before the sun rises; their shoots spread all over the gardens.
Mais [l'homme intègre] est plein de vigueur étant exposé au soleil, et ses jets poussent par dessus son jardin.
17 The roots of those plants twist around piles of stones and cling tightly to rocks.
Ses racines s'entrelacent près de la fontaine, et il embrasse le bâtiment de pierre.
18 But if those plants are pulled out, [it is as though] the place where they were planted says ‘They were never here!’ [And that is what happens to wicked people who do not heed what God says].
Fera-t-on qu'il ne soit plus en sa place, et que [le lieu où il était] le renonce, [en lui disant]: Je ne t'ai point vu?
19 Truly, evil people [MET] are not joyful [IRO] for a long time; other people come and take their places.
Voilà, quelle est la joie qu'il a de sa voie, même il en germera d'autres de la poussière.
20 :So, [I tell you, Job], God will not reject you if you are truly godly/righteous, but he does not help [IDM] evil people.
Voilà, le [Dieu] Fort ne rejette point l'homme intègre; mais il ne soutient point la main des méchants.
21 He will enable you [MTY] to continually laugh and to always shout [joyfully].
De sorte qu'il remplira ta bouche de ris, et tes lèvres de chants d'allégresse.
22 But those who hate you will be very ashamed, and the homes of wicked people will disappear.”
Ceux qui te haïssent seront revêtus de honte, et le tabernacle des méchants ne sera plus.
