Jeremiah 41
1 Ishmael was a member of the king’s family. He had been one of King Zedekiah’s important officials. In October of that year, he went to Mizpah with ten other men to [talk with] Gedaliah. While they were eating together,
௧பின்பு ஏழாம் மாதத்தில் ராஜவம்சத்தில் பிறந்தவனும், எலிஷாமாவின் மகனாகிய நெத்தானியாவின் மகனுமான இஸ்மவேலும், அவனுடன் ராஜாவின் பிரபுக்களான பத்துப்பேரும் மிஸ்பாவுக்கு அகீக்காமின் மகனாகிய கெதலியாவினிடத்தில் வந்து, அங்கே ஒன்றாக உணவு சாப்பிட்டார்கள்.
2 Ishmael and the other ten men jumped up, and with their swords they killed Gedaliah—the man whom the king of Babylon had appointed to be their governor!
௨அப்பொழுது நெத்தானியாவின் மகனாகிய இஸ்மவேலும், அவனோடிருந்த பத்துப்பேரும் எழும்பி, பாபிலோன் ராஜா தேசத்தின்மேல் அதிகாரியாக வைத்த சாப்பானின் மகனாகிய அகீக்காமின் மகனான கெதலியாவைப் பட்டயத்தால் வெட்டினார்கள்.
3 Ishmael [and the other men] also killed all the Jews and the soldiers from Babylonia who were with Gedaliah at Mizpah.
௩மிஸ்பாவிலே கெதலியாவினிடத்தில் இருந்த எல்லா யூதரையும், அங்கே காணப்பட்ட போர்வீரர்களாகிய கல்தேயரையும் இஸ்மவேல் வெட்டிப்போட்டான்.
4 The next day, before anyone had found out that Gedaliah had been murdered,
௪அவன் கெதலியாவைக் கொன்றபின்பு, மறுநாளில் அதை ஒருவரும் இன்னும் அறியாதிருக்கையில்:
5 eighty men from Shechem, Shiloh, and Samaria [cities] came to worship at the temple of Yahweh [in Mizpah]. They had shaved off their beards and torn their clothes and cut themselves [to show that they were mourning]. And they had brought grain offerings and incense [to burn on the altar].
௫தாடியைச் சிரைத்து, உடைகளைக் கிழித்து, தங்களைக் கீறிக்கொண்டிருந்த எண்பதுபேர் சீகேமிலும் சீலோவிலும் சமாரியாவிலுமிருந்து, தங்கள் கைகளில் காணிக்கைகளையும் நறுமணப்பொருட்களையும், யெகோவாவுடைய ஆலயத்திற்குக் கொண்டுபோகும்படி வந்தார்கள்.
6 Ishmael went out of the city to meet them, crying as he went. When he reached them, he said, “Come [and see what has happened to] Gedaliah!”
௬அப்பொழுது நெத்தானியாவின் மகனாகிய இஸ்மவேல் மிஸ்பாவிலிருந்து புறப்பட்டு, அவர்களுக்கு எதிராக அழுதுகொண்டே நடந்துவந்து, அவர்களைச் சந்தித்தபோது, அவர்களை நோக்கி: அகீக்காமின் மகனாகிய கெதலியாவினிடத்தில் வாருங்கள் என்றான்.
7 But as soon as they had all entered the town, Ishmael and his men killed [most of] them and threw their corpses into a well.
௭அவர்கள் நகரத்தின் மத்தியில் வந்தபோது, நெத்தானியாவின் மகனாகிய இஸ்மவேலும், அவனுடன் இருந்த மனிதரும் அவர்களை வெட்டி ஒரு பள்ளத்தில் தள்ளிப்போட்டார்கள்.
8 There were [only] ten of them whom they (spared/did not kill). They were not killed because they promised to Ishmael that [if he allowed them to remain alive, they would bring him] lots of wheat and barley and olive oil and honey that they had hidden.
௮ஆனாலும் அவர்களில் பத்துப்பேர் மீந்திருந்தார்கள்; அவர்கள் இஸ்மவேலைப்பார்த்து: எங்களைக் கொலைசெய்யவேண்டாம்; கோதுமையும், வாற்கோதுமையும், எண்ணெயும், தேனுமுள்ள புதையல்கள் எங்களுக்கு நிலத்தின்கீழ் இருக்கிறது என்றார்கள்; அப்பொழுது அவர்களை அவர்கள் சகோதரர்களைக் கொலைசெய்யாமல் விட்டுவைத்தான்.
9 The well where Ishmael’s men had thrown the corpses of the men whom they had murdered was the deep well that King Asa’s [men] had dug [in order that they would have water in the city] if the army of King Baasha of Israel would surround the city. Ishmael’s men filled that well with corpses.
௯இஸ்மவேல் கெதலியாவிற்காக வெட்டின மனிதருடைய பிரேதங்களையெல்லாம் எறிந்துபோட்ட பள்ளமோவெனில், ஆசா என்னும் ராஜா இஸ்ரவேலின் ராஜாவாகிய பாஷாவுக்காக உண்டாக்கின பள்ளந்தானே; அதை நெத்தானியாவின் மகனாகிய இஸ்மவேல் வெட்டப்பட்டப் பிரேதங்களால் நிரப்பினான்.
10 Then Ishmael [and his men] captured the king’s daughters and some of the other people who had been left in Mizpah by Nebuzaradan in order that Gedaliah would take care of them. Ishmael and his men took those people and started back toward the Ammon area.
௧0பின்பு இஸ்மவேல் மிஸ்பாவில் இருக்கிற மீதியான மக்கள் அனைவரையும் சிறைப்படுத்திக்கொண்டு போனான்; ராஜாவின் மகள்களையும் காவற்சேனாதிபதியாகிய நேபுசராதான் அகீக்காமின் மகனாகிய கெதலியாவின் விசாரிப்புக்கு ஒப்புவித்துப்போன மிஸ்பாவிலுள்ள மீதியான எல்லா மக்களையும் நெத்தானியாவின் மகனாகிய இஸ்மவேல் சிறைப்படுத்திக்கொண்டு அம்மோன் மக்களிடத்தில் போகப் புறப்பட்டான்.
11 But Johanan and all the other leaders of the Israeli soldiers who had not surrendered to the army of Babylonia heard about what Ishmael [and his men] had done.
௧௧நெத்தானியாவின் மகனாகிய இஸ்மவேல் செய்த பொல்லாப்பையெல்லாம் கரேயாவின் மகனாகிய யோகனானும், அவனுடன் இருந்த எல்லாப் போர்வீரர்களும் கேட்டபோது,
12 So they [immediately] went with all their men to stop them. They caught up with them at the large pool near Gibeon [city].
௧௨அவர்கள் ஆண்களையெல்லாம் அழைத்துக்கொண்டு, நெத்தானியாவின் மகனாகிய இஸ்மவேலோடு போர்செய்யப்போய், அவனைக் கிபியோனிலிருக்கும் பெருங்குளத்துத் தண்ணீர் அருகில் கண்டார்கள்.
13 When all the people whom Ishmael and his men had captured saw Johanan and the soldiers who were with him, they [shouted] joyfully.
௧௩அப்பொழுது இஸ்மவேலுடனிருந்த எல்லா மக்களும் கரேயாவின் மகனாகிய யோகனானையும், அவனோடிருந்த எல்லா போர்வீரர்களையும் கண்டு சந்தோஷப்பட்டு,
14 So all those who had been captured in Mizpah escaped, and they started to help Johanan.
௧௪இஸ்மவேல் மிஸ்பாவிலிருந்து சிறைப்பிடித்துக்கொண்டுபோன மக்களெல்லாம் பின்வாங்கித் திரும்பி, கரேயாவின் மகனாகிய யோகனானிடத்தில் வந்துவிட்டார்கள்.
15 But Ishmael and eight of his men escaped and fled to the Ammon area.
௧௫நெத்தானியாவின் மகனாகிய இஸ்மவேலோ, எட்டுப்பேருடன் யோகனானின் கைக்குத் தப்பி, அம்மோன் மக்களிடத்தில் போனான்.
16 Then Johanan and the men who were with him [gathered together] all the people whom they had rescued at Gibeon. They included soldiers and women and children and some of the king’s palace officials. They were all people whom Ishmael [and his men] had captured after they had killed Gedaliah.
௧௬கரேயாவின் மகனாகிய யோகனானும், அவனுடன் இருந்த எல்லா போர்வீரர்களும், அகீக்காமின் மகனாகிய கெதலியாவை வெட்டிப்போட்ட நெத்தானியாவின் மகனாகிய இஸ்மவேல் கொண்டுபோனதும், தாங்கள் கிபியோனிலே விடுதலையாக்கித் திரும்பச்செய்ததுமான மீதியான எல்லா மக்களாகிய போர்வீரர்களையும், பெண்களையும், குழந்தைகளையும், அரண்மனை அதிகாரிகளையும் சேர்த்துக்கொண்டு,
17 They took them all to Geruth-Kimham [village] near Bethlehem. And they all prepared to go to Egypt.
௧௭பாபிலோன் ராஜா தேசத்தின்மேல் அதிகாரியாக்கின கிம்காமின் மகனாகிய கெதலியாவை நெத்தானியாவின் மகனாகிய இஸ்மவேல் வெட்டிப்போட்டதற்காக கல்தேயருக்குப் பயந்தபடியினால்,
18 They were worried about what the soldiers of Babylonia [would do to them when they found out] that Ishmael had killed Gedaliah, who had been appointed by the King of Babylonia to be their governor.
௧௮தாங்கள் எகிப்திற்குப் போகப்புறப்பட்டு, பெத்லெகேம் ஊருக்கு அருகிலுள்ள கிம்காமின் பேட்டையில் தங்கியிருந்தார்கள்.
